      Cool Bore Yourself

It is much easier to LD on days when life gets boring. There is not only less on one's mind (there is less distracting one from LDing) but there is more of an impetus to try to achieve some sort of excitement.

On the other hand, there is little motivation to LD when life is already interesting.

A very successful technique that I used for many years to boost creativity was to bore myself - my brain would come up with things to entertain itself. It makes sense that the same would apply for lucid dreaming.

      Discuss.

I agree. I think that the mind has to do more to entertain itself when we're bored, so our creativity goes up. I know that as I've been writing a novel, I'll suddenly get creative bursts when I'm bored. However, I don't think that I'll purposely induce boredom in order to have more creative lucids. I've had some pretty exciting dreams despite (or perhaps due to) great excitement in my life. (In fact, I think that when it comes to dreams, I have more vivid, creative, moments in them while I'm having exciting things happen in my life).
      ...And then to dream...

      Cool

Well my suggestion is not exactly to sit around and do nothing, but bore yourself... constructively. For instance, what I usually do is go through scientific literature and try to read it - this does the trick for me.

I agree that excitement in life can manifest itself in one's dreams, but I think it will make it harder to actually become lucid. I could be wrong, this is just an idea I had right now.

Ah! Right, enrich yourself AND become bored (perhaps I should just do my homework...nah!)

Yeah, I know what you mean... When life gets interesting I tend to forget all about lucid dreaming and don't reality check, because suddenly lucid dreaming seems less interesting.

Its hard to say whether thats a good or bad thing. Ahaha.
