Had my first WILD.. almost instantly, but have a couple questions

So I had my first WILD the other day. What happened was I set my cellphone for 3 hours after I fell asleep, and then set a second alarm for 10 minutes after that first one, since in the past, I've just turned it off and fallen right back asleep. Well again I ended up falling asleep, but after the second alarm I was a bit more alert, and decided to try WILD. All I basically did was lie back down, but try to keep my mind a little bit alert. Almost instantly I started seeing images, and I thought for sure I was going to end up lucid dreaming in the sandy beach scene I was seeing in my mind. What happened however was I started feeling (or seeing? kind of hard to describe), myself pull away from myself, I could sort of control it and make it stop, but I let it go all the way, and ended up having an OBE, and I ended up standing beside my bed, and could look at myself on the bed.

Now since in my opinion, and OBE is nothing more than a lucid dream in which you have an "intention" to see yourself on your bed, I tried to go to another place, by spinning, but when I stopped I was still in my room which was pretty boring, So I said "increase clarity", but nothing happened. Then I just conjured up a nice meal, that tasted really good, and I woke up. I think I might have woke up because I closed my eyes while I was eating? Not sure though.

So my question is this. How do I either 1) change the scene of the OBE/Dream, or two end up in whatever scene I was seeing in my mind (the HI I guess), since my bedroom is pretty boring.

Also I never did a reality check during the whole thing, since I was already sure that I was lucid, and it just didn't occur to me. Could that have been another reason why it was so short?

From what I've read (I only WILDed once, correct me anywhere I am wrong plz), it is a good idea that keep repeating to yourself 'I am dreaming, I am dreaming, etc.' while spinning because some lose lucidity while spinning.

Also, if saying 'clarity now' or 'increase clarity' doesn't work, try rubbing your hands together or have any feeling you are used to (breeze on the face, or whatever).

For changing places, 'teleportation' is the advanced way. You can always imagine the beach outside your house and leave the house and hope for the best

Once you are lucid, RCs are kinda useless. There are only meant to bring you lucidity. (Correct me if I'm wrong). BUT if you feel like you are losing lucidity and don't know what to do, an RC might help. Also, if you 'wake up', always RC because maybe you experienced a false awakening, where you wake up IN the dream.

There are many reasons why your OBE was short: maybe you were at the end of a REM cycle, maybe you got really excited for whatever reason and it woke you up, maybe because you closed your eyes...

      That's what I think!

At the moment, I've got to thinking that the opposite could be true:

I suspect that, if you get into the habit of doing constant RCs during LDs, then this is more likely to reinforce the behaviour than just doing RCs in waking life - thus you're more likely to do an RC in a non-lucid.

Something I'm also thinking may work is actively looking for dreamsigns in LDs. My reasoning being, if I get into the habit of looking for DSs in LDs, I may find the habit carries over to non lucids.

Most true. Didn't think of it.
