Let me start by explaining a few things. The reason for waking yourself up several hours after you go to sleep in order to WILD/WBTB is that so you can be in an REM-ready state, correct? This makes it easier to transition into a dream from waking life.

And the reason why you can't WILD/WBTB before getting any sleep is that you're not near an REM state yet.

However, one of the main reasons why it is difficult to attain lucidity just by a regular dream cycle is that the Logic center of the brain is mostly off, making it difficult to notice dream signs or things out of the ordinary.

But when you wake up in the middle of the night in order to WILD/WBTB you stay up long enough to become aware, and the logic center of your brain becomes active again, BUT you are also in an REM-like state, you now have the perfect combination, in theory, to attain lucidity rather effortlessly.

Why I bring this up, is when attempting to WILD this past friday, I got bored of waiting for HI and the like and just fell asleep, but almost immediately became lucid when I started dreaming. Is this because of the special combination I mentioned earlier, a new way to attempt lucidity, just a simple WBTB without waiting for any HI? If so this could be much simpler for others to become lucid without the hassle of WILD-ing. Maybe couple this with a MILD for greater chances for success.

Let me know your thoughts on this.
