      Unintentional WBTB

Bit of background first, been attempting to LD for good 6 months now and have 3 short DILD's. Been putting efforts into improving dream recall and maintaining journal. So haven't been working on becoming lucid as of late.

Work up as usual requiring a visit to the gents at 04:30. I've a major incident with my business at the moment and was working through a particular scenario in my head. Fell asleep about 05:15 and had a succession of small but quite lucid dreams. I kept waking between each dream but would slip back into almost the same dream and instantly become lucid.

It seems to me that the 45 minutes I lay awake thinking through my particular problem was what allowed me to so easily become lucid. My mind was stimulated sufficiently that it remained alert when I fell back to sleep. I know this is the theory behind WBTB but I never had any initial intention of becoming lucid.

I'm gonna experiment to see just how long I need to remain awake in order to induce a state of mind to allow WBTB. Probably won't have time during the week as I rise at 06:15 so will have to wait till weekend.

Yeah I just couldn't get over the fact that you needed to stay awake during the WBTB for a little while at least to get the mind active (whilst keeping the body tired). My mistake has been trying to go back to sleep instantly (if I mess up a DEILD attempt).
