      Question Reverse Psychology

      Happy New Year everyone!

One day last week I did at least 40 reality checks whenever I saw the colour blue. I wanted to dream about a tropical island, so I looked at some pictures of the beach and stuff as well. I thought I would see blue in my dreams and therefore become lucid.

However, the last dream I had (just before I woke up) was in a desert setting with no water in sight. I was in some kind of megastructure with one window through which I could not see the sky. The colour scheme was reds, oranges and yellows. It's like my mind showed me the opposite of what could have made me lucid.

Have you had a problem like this? How do you use "reverse psychology" on your own subconscious?
      Thanks

or maybe the message from your subconscious was 'dont be so eager'

I've found that if, for instance, I go to sleep chanting 'I will have excellent dream recall' I tend to wake up and struggle to remember anything.

Perhaps the dreaming self responds more positively to our encouragement and interest..ie when we pay alot of attention to the dreams that are given by keeping a dream journal.

Your subconscious is very sensative to how you approach affirmations.

"I will have excellent dream recall" is a sentance that only reaffirms that you do NOT have excellent dream call now. Your saying that you WILL have it, implies that you do not have it now. Instead, perhaps try an approach that is more oriented around "Thank you for allowing me to develop excellent dream recall!"

Granted, affirmations in general don't always work right away. Over time, they work very well, in my experience.
