      Re: Help with WILD lucidity

Hey Otis, welcome to DV man!

      [quote]

I'm not sure what you mean by that. It sounds like you're saying that while you're in the beginning stages of WILD, you're basically paralysed, but you can't pass that phase because your eyes keep blinking away the imagery? So like, your eyes are open during this? Or your "dream eyes" are blinking?

Sorry, I just got confused a bit.

      Hey

I think he means like, when u start to see the colors and images and stuff, your eyes just reflexively blink, like when you try to close them when you're not tired. Even if you are tired, it just doesn't work, because a lot of times when I'm THINKING about doing a WILD my eyes do that. Its probably a psychological thingy or something. I've never gotten WILD to work because of it. My eyes just don't wanna cooperate Is that what you mean?

Perhaps you are trying a little too hard while you are lying there? It seems the more you let yourself get stressed about it, the harder it is.
Just keep trying, lie there and pretend you are watching a television program and the HI you see is really occurring on the TV.

Yeah the beagle is right that is my problem. Thanks Seeker I will try that tomorrow. I might just switch to MILD because I've heard that that is more dependable.

Yea I know what you mean..."Blinking" can set you back. Something interesting..does anyone think that in reality...your eyes blink to almost like reset everything. I notice when people wake up and they are like 1/2 sleep walking 1/2 awake they sit down wherever huddling their coffee and staring into nothingness. Its so relaxing. Also when you stare at anything...do you notice that it fades and blurrs and everything becomes one. Try it when your lying in bed right before sleep just stare without blinking (you have to be relaxed and just not think about it) It might help in getting you to relax when trying to Wild, but also notice how everything just darkens and sort of fades...its cool anyone else notice?

hey i tried wild last night but it didn't work my body started to feel really heavy (is the paralysis people talk about?) and i had some vibrations but not many. also, i'm not sure if my HI was genuine, because i remember it repeated itself a lot, so maybe i was consciously making them? any advice would be greatly appreciated guys

There is not a whole lot you can do so speed up the process, except practice. It still sounds like you are getting too tense to me. Just try to relax a little more and passively accept everything you are experienceing. You don't have to force things, in fact, forcing will ruin it

I had the easiest WILD last night I've ever had. Took about 45 seconds, I must have timed it just right. Here is what I did:

Woke up with a full bladder, around 3:45 or so
Quick trip to the toilet, but didn't allow myself to wake up fully
Back to bed, decided to try WILD
Layed there and started the "I am dreaming" chant
Said it maybe 4 times, felt mild vibrations, saw the patterns scrolling in front of my eyes.
When they stopped, I was lying on the grass looking up at the sky

I wasn't tense or didn't try to force it. My attitude was, hey, I'm awake, WTF I might as well try WILD. I wanted it to succeed, but wouldn't have been too tense if it had failed.

You will get it, I'm sure of that. Most of the older members know my story, THREE months of lying awake every night for 1+ hours before I got it!

i dunno, i just don't think i've gotten used to it yet. i remember the HI stops every now and then, but then nothing happens. do you know any way to clear your mind during wild, like the picturing your thoughts as clouds during meditation?

I used to have that problem. You're getting to excited so they go away. Don't go "OMG LOOK A DREAM OBJECT!!!!". Don't even think its a dream object, just look at it and realize its a dream object very calmly.

So, I'm just clarifying this for myself, can you do a WILD while being pretty tired?

Try picturing a relaxing activity, like floating on a raft in the ocean as gentle waves rock you, it has worked for others.

k will do. last night i think i got a lot closer but it was weird. basically i was picturing myself flying (is it okay to do this because as a result i didn't get any hi) and my body started to get vibrations i think, but every now and then i'd hear noises. i listened to the voices and i'd see the people talking but i left them to carry on flying, was this the right thing to do or should i have stayed with them?

I think you did the right thing. Giving too much attention the the dream constructs as they form always wakes you up.

I like to pretend I am flying down a long tunnel and each vibration I feel is my body breaking through an energy barrier.

Eventually, it is like I am sucked forward at enormous speed and deposited into the dream.

cool. i think i might try that instead of the raft on the ocean, i always feel myself concentrating too much when i'm imagining sitting on grass because i'm wondering does the grass go on to the horizon or am i just in a field, or maybe a garden. so i'm guessing i'd get the same if i was imagining myself on the ocean. i was just wondering, what happens when your dream starts? are you lucid from the beggining, or if not, is it easier to tell you're dreaming than usual?

BTW thanks so much for answering all my questions

You are lucid all the way in. No lapse of concious thought, that is what makes it so cool!

      Good luck tonight!

Its sometimes very very tricky to realize you are dreaming. Here is a real dream I had where I became lucid from questioning...

It was dark and my dad way driving a car minivan (which he doesnt have in "real life") So we are driving and he drops my brother and his friends off in this house that looks like its in Brooklyn. I knew he would enver do that and that my brother didnt have friends in Brooklyn. At that time friends of my dads left the house where my brother was entering and got into the car. I thought to myself what the fuck is going on...I cant take sitting with these guys in the car all the way home. So I got out of the car and decided to start walking...(This is where I started really being a detective...b/c in all reality...you dont want to be walking around Brooklyn late at night...So I thought to myself...if this is real...I am in deep shit) MY father than drove off and confirmed that it was a dream. I walked around and just stared shooting bullets form my fingers..floating...just fooling around really. Theres ur example I hope it helps!

one of my problem with wild is I dont know where I should create the images or scenery in my head or on my closed eye's... dont know if im totally clear

im finding really dificult to create an image I usually simply watch what my imagination produces and its not clear 90% of the picture is black and when i try to imagine a scenery in my head ex ( me watching the blue sky and sleeping over the green grass) this image seems to fuse with black of inside my closed eyes and its hard to keep the focus I always find myself thinking about something else that happened over the day

sorry for this mind blowing post but i found it hard to be more clearer

You know i have that same basic problem, when i see stuff its not really clear or doesn't look real and seems more black, they usually just seem vivid colors for a short period of time that form weird things. And the same problem with trying to picture something, like if i try to picture laying on the grass, i just see a vague scene of it, it's very hazy.

I might try MILD if someone could please tell me, all that being unable to move your body...

Can you just bolt up (you know like jump up) if it gets too scary, or is it impossible to do anything before you slip inot your sleep?
Lets all do something mental like steal a traffic cone.
