      Animal help to attain Lucidity

Yes you read it correctly: Animals to help Lucidity.

After last night I realised that animals can be a great help of maintaining a higher level of awareness during dreamtime. Here's how

I was visiting my mother and I slept over. I fell asleep on the Coutch in the living room. In this living room with me was a cage with 4 parakeets(which I find endlessly depressing since birds are supposed to be free and fly)

That night the birds occasionally sang and chatted. (As parakeets do) I guess this must have been the reason why I suddenly broke my dream-dryspell of aout 3 years(!)and had a night full of intensely vivid, well remembered dreams.
I awoke early in the morning, due to it being a sunny day and the birds becomming hyperactive and extremely loud singing and talkative.

I was so extremely exhausted however, that I could not yet get up and fell asleep again pretty soon. The birds were singing REALLY loud and immitating human chatter non-stop, but I was so exhausted it didn't stop me from falling asleep. Then I had one of the most vivid, well remembered dreams I'd had in years. It was dreamt in such a high awareness that it was just an inch away from a lucid dream.
I awoke and was amazed by my superb dream recall and the bizarreness of my dreams. I even remember hearing the birds do their usual chatter trying to immitate human conversations in my DREAMS.

And in my nighttime dreams I actually percieved them as people talking to me. Whole sentences that made sense to me in the dream. Crazy!
And later, after I woke up briefly and fell back asleep in the morning, I dreamt of me and a friend flying low over my neighborhood using a sort of synthetic foam-wings. Yet again a sign that the sound of the Birds incubated "Birds" into my dream.

So needless to say this experience has inspired me incredibly to see Animals, especially birds, as means to help me dream with a higher awareness; increasing the chance to become lucid.

Also off course the birds have proven to be the ultimate aid in Dream incubation; If they can help me dream of Birds and bird related subjects(like flying) then I could sleep in a room with parakeets and look out for Birds(and anything bird-related) as Dreamsigns!

I hope to experiment more with these Birds and my Dreams. in fact I'm about to sleep on that coutch again so tomorrow I'll let you know how it influenced my dreams tonight and if it had the same success.

      Any thoughts?

How is it that they helped you in the first place? Is it that the noise helped you maintain a conscious mind but sleeping body?

yeah i noticed that i can hear stuff in my dreams as well. also the three years thing what the heck!? but anyway..., yeah i can also see halucinations as well (yeah i know that sounded odd but let me explain). i get migraines periodically and one of the symptoms of an oncomming migraine is a light haluciantion. basically it is an arangement of blinking lights where the arrangement is like herring bone. there was this one night where i got a migraine while i was in the midst of a dream so i saw the lights in my dream and when i woke up i could see them as usual. my night and next morning was ruined sadly.

Yeah it was the unpredictable and at times extremely loud noises the birds made that kept me mentally alert. In combination with sleep deprivation(went to sleep around 4 in the morning) assured my body nevertheless fell and stayed asleep.

I think the hightened awareness caused by the birds has to do with a very primitive natural defence mechanism.
We never quite sleep completely unconsciously: there's allways a thin red line of awareness. If we were sleeping during a heavy storm we would hear the howling wind, realise the wind isn't a direct danger to our survival and take no further notice of the howls while we slept. However if we hear another Human being, or other living being entered the room in which we are sleeping we are much more likely to take notice of it and "keep an eye" on that presence, just in case it is a threatening, malevolent presence. Humans with violent intents or carnivorous animals are a much more realistic, common threat to our survival.

So I guess I took note of the noise, tried to comfort myself thinking: "oh it's the birds" and allowed myself to continue sleeping. This notice must have kept me aware aswell as incubate into my dream in the form of human chatter and dream flight with wings.

I didn't have no dreamrecall for 3 years straights, but very poor dreamrecall. With easily 3 month periods with no dreamrecall followed up by an occasional fragment of dream recall ( amazing the evil that stress does ) and this continuing for 3 perhaps even 4 years ( I wasn't counting)

So my superb dreamrecall of late stood out.

This morning I was less successfull, but this was due to my mother waking me up and showing me a documentary: no chance to remember dreams: it was flushed away by all that information my mom overloaded me with this morning
