Concentration power (the ability to focus on whatever you deem relevant for as long as you want) is like a muscle - it can be strengthened with exercise.

Once you have strengthened your concentration power, you will be able to, for example, focus on your breathing as your thoughts churn along, without getting caught up in the thinking process.

There are many meditation techniques that will help you develop your concentration power IF you practice them diligently.

This. Sorry to say, the videos have scam written all over them, and the person making the videos is clearly making up his own vocabulary because he never bothered to read up on the current information on the subject.

Always be very wary of things you find on the internet which has information that is not found anywhere else. This is usually a red flag that the information is totally made up by one person or group. So usually, even googling the stuff is enough. If the same information is found on more reputable websites (say, LaBerg's website or IASD) then you know it's good. If you can only find references of people talking about it on forums and whatnot...then it's probably BS.

yeah I had started a forum with this (Lucidology).. I thought when i saw it i found a few things interesting, of course some didn't make much sense, but just a few useful tips... then i saw it had already been discussed.. since i couldn't delete the tread I changed it, to this little problem I'm having... thanks for the advice everyone, keep them coming!! , I believe my lack of concentration Has been a huge problem....

Also, I think when I tell myself, that "i willl realize that I'm dreaming", "I'll be conscious in my dreams", "I will notice the weird stuff and realize i'm dreaming", I have the feeling my mind doesn't really know what I'm talking about... I hope somebody understands what i'm saying... Its like the mind is sooo used to the waking life and its laws that, anything that happends when we sleep, it kinda gets blocked out... So when i tell myself I want to access it, to actually become lucid 'while my body sleeps' my mind goes like "What you talking about!!",
Also When I try to get into SP, I go like "My mind will stay awake, while my body sleeps...", I haven't been able to achieve it... Whenever I do that, i just stay awake completely...

So I guess My brain isn't understanding what I'm asking for... any thoughts?? hope somebody understands what i'm talking 'bout

One more thing, I just came up with this idea, because I have been failing so much, I started looking to see what is causing the problem, and I came up with this, I'm telling you this so you guys don't think that I'm just being negative and that my thinking that my mind doesn't understand what I'm asking for might be causing it...

If you want a book to read on how to focus your mind, I know a good one its called "The High Performace Mind by Anna Wise.

I have had problems with affirmations like you have mentioned. I remedied this by pretending I was writing an advertisement for lucid dreaming. I re-wrote these again and again changing them as often as I have to to create a more attractive advertisement/affirmation for my subconscious.

Now I enjoy reading writing & repeating my affirmations because they are fun to read & repeat.

You're right the affirmation needs to be clear. Try as well to write it as tho a child would understand it.

you know what i do? i first flex every muscle in my body so my body will relax. i then try and listen to my heart beat. after i can hear it, i try and feel my pulse in different areas of my body, say my feet, fingers, etc. works for me. i do all of this pulse feeling without moving of course.

Good ideas in this thread, goods posts and i found a couple of concentration exercises that will help stregnthen your concentration. You can focus on an object and think only about the object and do it for 3 minutes, then 5 then 10 and then 15. Another good one is to close your eyes and then of nothing for a few minutes.

I used to have the same problem. I'd try Reverse Blinking and slowing your breathing.

      Good luck

According to every dictionary I could find, Nexism isn't a word.

Yeah, quieting my mind quickly would be a great skill I'd love to learn. I suppose it comes from practise; then again, I find that actually being ready to go to sleep helps. If I go to sleep because I have to, I find that I'm just sitting in bed thinking of the past days events, what I'll be doing the next day, and other random things. Perhaps actually wanting to go to bed is key.

Yeah I'm a little confused about some of the things being talked about in relation to the subject.

Anyway, have you tried the classic counting to 100. You know, "1-1000, 2-1000, 3-1000" ect and picture the numbers in your head along while loosening up (since it would be hard to fall asleep with tension).

This usually helps me fall asleep.

Naaah... i tried... i get bored but thanks... its just I have a very childesh mind I guess i could put it that way..., I'll try that book, someone recommended..

The ad thing sounds interesting... to explain my mind on how it works and stuff... at least until i learn to control it a bit more...

I'm not very good at visualizing, which in my opinion, it makes it harder to learn to focus ... Any thoughts on how to learn to visualize?? or what to visualize??

OR!! guided self hypnosis, if someone knows of good free mp3 downloads on guided meditation or self hypnosis, i would appreciate it..

Thanks to everyone so far... I've found some useful tips here...
Talk to a dream character (X), Have a shared dream and go to the moon ( ), Go to the Bottom of the ocean in an Astral Projection ( ), Meet my higher self or a higher anything!! ( )...
