      suggestion from a newbie: SILD??

Hey everyone, I've seen several topics around called Sild, but this one is a whole new suggestion

SILD means: Speech Induced Lucid Dream.
The theory is: why not make an MP3 file, which is silent for like 45 minutes (don't know much about the REM cycle so you can suggest a better time) and then after 45 minutes, your own voice, saying at a very soft volume and voice: "hey, you are dreaming, why not become lucid?" or something similar. Since I haven't got much experience and also haven't had any LD's myself, is this a plausible method?

Conduct some research in the Research forum and find out.

You should be aware things like this have been attempted before. The results were rarely any good. Plus most people don't like it when you throw "ILD" onto the end of your "method." Be forewarned.

you have a good idea, but unfortunately its not original. its actually uncommon for anyone to come up with anything totally original. its just a little twist to something has already posted. but if you are interested in REM there are tons of resources on this site. the easiest to direct you to is this. but something more directly on the rem cycle could be found off site here. what you will find with rem is that it occurs ever 90 minutes in most cases. and every 90 minute the period of rem gets longer. at first its only about 5 minutes, but by the time youve had 4 cycles, or 360 minutes, or 6 hours, your rem can be well over 30 to 45 minutes. Thus the longer you wait to try techniques for lucidity, the higher the possibility. so the strategy for you would be to wake yourself up after 6 hours and then play the mp3 you made. but i would suggest using others that have already spent hours of research and time making. i would suggest this one. well i hoped somewhat. enjoy your times here on dreamviews! you will learn things exponentially as time goes on.

Anyways, wouldn't this just be an EILD (externally induced lucid dream)?

Ah here we go... something to add that is more helpful If you're interested in EILD, check out these mp3's made by one of our forum dream guides, ninja9578...

      Audio Aid Repository

It has some background research and 3 mixed files (about 1 hour long I believe) that are meant to be listened to before you go to sleep (but I believe he said it was okay to listen to them while you're sleeping, as well).

They are subliminal, so you won't hear him saying, "You're dreaming." It's buried under music.
