Alarms that don't make you move when they go off

I've recently tried experimenting with the CAN-WILD technique in which you need to wake up from an alarm and not move so as to still be in SP without waiting for it. My problem was waking up from the alarm and not moving when I did. So I set two alarms during the night and hoped for the best. Unfortunately, I instinctively reached out to turn off the alarm before I disturbed anybody in my house. When my dad came to wake me up in the morning, my first thought was, "Darn I didn't get to try out the new technique." However, I realized that when he came to wake me up by moving me I did not move a muscle.

The next night I thought that maybe alarms with noise are not the way to go for me. I set up two alarms that vibrated and put my phone in my pocket. Again, I didn't move at all. I don't know if this is just me, but when I am awakened by touch rather than by sound I can stay still after awakening.

Is there a reason for this having to do with the way the body reacts to different situations? I would like to hear if anybody else on dreamviews reacts like this when they are awakened by touch or if im just weird haha

That's pretty interesting. I might try that out tonight. But for me, I think a standard alarm is terrible to wake up to. Like you said, you instinctively reach out to turn it off, the sound is just annoying and disturbing. But it makes sense, if you wake up from a gentle touch or vibration, it won't be as violent and sudden. I'll do that with my phone on vibrate tonight

It's kinda like a DEILD, where you DON'T move at all and can get into sleep paralysis quickly.

The canwild technique rocks for me.. This seems to be the one technique that just works again and again.. although, my hopes are to really become well rounded and become a more natural LD'er. I do think you are onto something with the touch thing.. I have noticed that when my alarm is on vibrate and against me it wakes me very subtle and I don't jerk awake and move... This is definitely an idea to try now.. I'm not sure why I hadnt thought of using this with my technique before but will definitely give it a go now.. thanks for posting this....

I can't use any sound or vibration because it will wake my wife. I put my mobile by the side of the bed facing me and cover the "speaker" with tape. When the alarm goes off a light comes on. This light is bright enough to wake me, but not my wife. Have only used it to wake up for WBTB but will experiment with different brightness (basically covering part of the mobile's display) for DEILD attempts, CAN-WILD and EILD.
My LDing record, if you want to hear about it, is about 4 WILDs, 1 DEILD, and the rest DILDs.

Something you can try, There is a free alarm app you can download for your pc/laptop it is programed by your pc's clock the good thing is you can program any sound you like as the alarm sound so,pick a short 3 or so second sound and one that will wake you up and not bother you and set it to not repeat, this way it will wake you up and quickly turn itself off.

I use it and find it to be very helpful. and you don't have to move at all

Here is the link for it:

      Hope this may help you
