Lucidity - the ULTIMATE tease !!

I just don't understand. I have been LDing for years now and I have yet to find a method that works every single time I use it.. and I have tried dozens!!

I mean if you want to put together a bike.. you get the instructions, follow them to the letter and you have have a bike. The next night, if you want to put together that SAME bike, you follow the same instructions and you get the same result.. the bike.

If you're lost and need to get somewhere, you get a map, you follow the directions and you get to your destination. The next day if you need to get back there and the road conditions are the same, you follow the same directions and you once again arrive at your destination.

Not with LUCID DREAMING !!! You try one method and, hallelujah, you have a lucid dream!! You think to yourself.. I know the secret now.. I can lucid dream whenever I want to!

So the next night, you happily prepare for lucidity. You follow the SAME method that you did before.. the same times, the same affirmations, the same freakin' everything... and it doesn't happen!?!?!

In all my years I don't think I've every been able to have a lucid dream two nights in a row even if I'm using the exact same methods both nights.

I KNOW there are probably logical reasons as to why lucidity is so hard to come by... it just frustrates the he$$ out of me sometimes.

Lucidity really does kick a$$ 'cuz I would have given up on anything else this difficult and unpredictable a long time ago.

Sorry for the rant.. I feel better now.. and yes, I'll be trying again soon.

I don't think I even have a method, I become lucid when I see something "out of the ordinary" when i'm dreaming. Sometimes I just all of a sudden become lucid for no reason at all.

Clairity, I've been wondering about the same thing since I started LDing 4 months ago.

Here's a not so serious thought: I know it sounds kind of "Castaneda-ish" but I wonder if we need to store or replace some kind of energy or "personal power" to a certain level before we lucid dream again? It either happens or it doesn't for me each night. I'd like to know why also.

Lucky27, that's how I become lucid most of the time in DILD's. Something isn't "right" and I ask myself if I'm dreaming. I rarely question my frequent dreamsigns even though they parade by me each night in my dreams.

Most of my recent LD's have been WILD's. I have a feeling WILD's will be the way to go for me as I've had them more frequently than DILD's.

Hey, I've been lding for just over two months now, with only 3 small ld's, one from MILd, and the other two were random. I took a break for a while, and now I am trying to repeart the same method for MILD everysingle day, with the hope that soon it will pay off - I think that the main reason it seems so hard is because I spend so much time switching between methods, and didn't get the chance to try solidly.

I think that given time I will be able to consistently produce them, and the only way to do that is through WILD - if you can step straight into a dream, you must be going prety good.

I like that idea.. like maybe you need a night of \"rest\" in between attempts. :-) As I said I've never been able to LD two nights in a row so maybe I'll try skipping a day or two between attempts and see what happens.

I too rarely question dreamsigns or things out of the ordinary.. I just rationalize and go with the dream.

99% of my LDs have been WILDs.. DILD just doesn't seem to work for me (I wish it did.. it would take a lot less effort)!

I can relate about switching methods.. I mean how long do you stick with a method until it works?
Then, how long do you stick with a method that worked once but not the next 4, 8 or 10 times?

There is a definate "art" to being able to WILD.. and when it works there's nothing like it! :-)

I would love to find a fixed method of LDing. That would be beautiful! Speaking of Casteneda, the last time I LDed was when I was reading his book "The Eagle's Gift"!I wasn't even trying to LD.....Anyway, it's been over a month ago...Well, anyway if anyone finds a method that works everytime for them, tell me. I'll give it a try.
