      First RC ever

I actually first read about RCs last night. This is because I have often thought about taking control of my dreams, I.e having more lucid dreams. Anyhow this morning surprisingly during a dream I noticed something was odd or off -- and did in fact remember to perform a reality check. In my case I looked at some writing on the wall near a switch, and looked away and looked back at it-- sure enough the writings were different the second time. After which point of coarse I got excited and wondered what controls I might exert over the particular dream in question. However, I quickly noticed my heartbeat began to accelerate (which I felt in the dream), probably due to my excitement and lack of overall experience with lucid dreaming and quickly woke up.

At any rate, I know I need more practice withs RCs and all of it overall. Just thought it was worth sharing so I could generate a response and also it will serve as my personal introduction to the board, since this is my first post. I look forward to meeting you good folks. Thanks

Congratulations on your first one !
It was a DILD, when inside a dream, you realize you are dreaming, by reality checks or other means. With practice, it will surely become better.

I think as you get more and more used to lucid dreaming and the intense excitement fades you will be more able to prolong the dream and keep it. There are some methods for stability like touching things, rubbing your hands together and spinning.
