      Pain In dreams?

Have you ever had a dream where you felt real Pain? Iv had a couple of them...
nightmares I guess. I was in hospital or the dentists and he would pull my teeth
out, I felt everything, real pain. No extreme pain, but it was enough for me to
cringe. Normally in dreams you dont really feel much pain, but this was different.

      Anyone else had this?

To some degree, yeah. Mainly induced on purpose to test vividity of an LD. I find it kind of fascinating, so while I feel the pain, I don't really freak out. I got impaled through the hand and it only felt like a punch. But now when I pump up the vividity, I can feel the pricks of pine needles. I want to avoid getting hurt in that level of vividity, but it's not like it would cause any real damage.

I once had a dream where a monkey jumped on my back and started scratching me, and IT HURT.

Not to mooch off of Smurfy's thread, but as an addendum, has anyone ever started crying in a dream and woke up in tears? I have done that on several occasions.

I remember having a dream that I was in a classroom and this giant window in the back of the class broke and glass was like imbedded in my back. I felt EXTREME pain and woke up with tears in my eyes.
      Is it real . . . is it a dream . . . is it real . . . is it a dream

I think in lucid dreams you can feel pain, but it fades away very quickly, thats in my experince at least.

The only time I really feel "pain" is in dreams where either I get choked to death, or drowned.

Well, technically when u feel pain in real life, the cause of the pain is merely from chemicals being released and a signal sent through your spine to your brain to tell you that something is definately wrong with a certain part of the body, usually where there is damaged tissue or bone, etc. When dreaming, you can indeed feel pain if something tricks your mind into thinking something is wrong (like tissue damage for example)and causing those chemicals to be released and in so you can feel realistic pain.

I got shot in the arm by a poison arrow this morning! It hurt like hell. First I felt the arrow pierce through my arm, then this aweful burning, then weirdness going up my arm and into my body. I lost consciousness in my dream and thought I was dying. Soon after I thought, hmm, I think this is just putting me to sleep not killing me. Then I woke up.

Yes, pain. Didn't enjoy it at all, and was never lucid even as I was falling asleep in my sleep. Dana

I cant remember one single instance where I feel pain in my dreams. I can feel emotions but not pain. which is good really. But the strange thing is that I wake up with bruises and scratches and shit! I remember once I was bleeding but I think I was sleep walking. (I dont do that anymore) 8)

I have never felt pain in a non lucid dream. This could be from me not remebering the pain, not experiencing the pain, or not remembering a dream with pain in it.

However, when lucid round 2 started (wild) I tried to fly. Inside. Not smart. I hit my hand on the roof and felt an incredible, dull, pins and needles type pain in my hand. I was confused and decided to take the flying outside.

I think I can feel pain to some degree depending whats goin on in the dream. Like this one time a giant winged creature broke a window while flying through it and it's clawn sliced my faceright through my lips. I had this great idea that I can do the stitches mself and sewed my lips and face back up. It hurt like hell and I could feel the unevenness with my hand. When I woke up I keep touching my face to make sure it wasn't really there.

      Pain and healing

This actually just happened to me a couple days ago. I was flying
around in a forest, stopped on a huge boulder for a minute, then
tried to fly again but lost faith momentarily. So I fell, of course, on
to a bunch of sticks that jabbed into my right foot. It hurt pretty much
like it would in real life. Then, as I was looking at it, I just sort of
wished the wound away - just thought to myself, I wish I didn't have
this wound. And it healed up almost instantaneously - just closed
up right before my eyes (which was very cool to watch) - and the pain
was gone just as quickly. If I wasn't lucid, I probably would have just
woke up from the pain. Anyway, try healing yourself sometime. It's
pretty sweet. I also once dreamed that my cat was attacking my foot
and it wouldn't stop bleeding profusely. If memory serves correctly, I
believe I used that as a trigger.
Just a friendly reminder to do a reality check. : ) Are you dreaming? How do you know?

My experience is very much like irishcream's, that I got shot point blank range in the back, and I woke up with this horrible ache/pain in my lower back. VERY CREEPY lol That was a horrible dream but i was partially lucid at the end so I made it all better *wink wink* If you know what i mean. LOL

Don't tell me about it. I dremt that I was out driving, then I drove through this stable or some sort of a horse-ranch. This one horse saw me coming, so it sort of placed its foot towards me, it broke the glass in the front window and stamped me in the nuts, and the horse with its pressure stayed there while I drove on. It was so amazingly painful.

Actually, it's more like your sensory nerves feel a something they don't like, send a message to the brain (there are a couple of chemical joints there, called synapses, but they move very quickly and don't always last very long, but sometimes can last quite a while) and your brain says, \"Ouch.\" Your brain can ignore it, though, and make it so you can feel the sensation, but so that it doesn't hurt at all (ask my religions teacher, he did that when he got hit by a truck - a hellovalotta pain into no pain at all.) The intrepration of the nerve signal to pain is all in your head.

lmao, good idea (mental note: only fly OUTSIDE)

I heard of someone here that committed suicide in an LD and said dying really hurt him or her.

I remember this topic came about previously before, and I can say I've never felt pain in a dream. That doesn't mean Im completely disengaged from any feelings I have had other sensations that are good. I can feel wind, water, a touch and other natural feelings. I just never felt physical pain. I guess once Im Lucid I tend to revert back all the time, that everything around me is just all in my mind.

I've had a dream that has been recurring for 6 months in which I give birth. On several occasions I have awoken feeling the pain of labor, screaming and sobbing, believing I'm truly giving birth. It's been freaking me out.
