I don't really understand where you are going, but very interesting articles thanks for sharing!

What are you trying to point out tho? That the problems of the world could be solved if we changed our mind of work, and saw it as play?

Through dream work it is possible for one to enter a metanoic state. That's all I am really getting at.

really, really good stuff there on that jungian site. gosh, i didnt know Jung spitting out all that wise stuff
just a short quote about the dream part:
How to achieve the metanoia Jung calls for? One of the best ways, Jung felt, is working with dreams. A regular, disciplined dream work practice provides us with the necessary personal experience of our soul’s guidance, care, direction and love for us. This is the source of true stability and security, a “treasure” that can’t rust, be eaten or stolen from us. By internalizing a locus of security for ourselves we become psychologically free of dependence on externals, like those boards of directors and captains of industry and whatever antics, crimes or sins they may commit.
The regular practice of working with our dreams allows us to discover our inner life, and this discovery is a major counterweight to the materialism of our culture. When we watch the psyche’s creativity and insight unfold for us every night in our dreams no longer can we believe that matter is all there is in life. Nor can we remain as we were: we grow, we “individuate.”
An active dream practice also helps us to lead the “responsible life” that Jung saw as a consequence of individuation. As we become more and more who we truly are, in the process of individuation, we become more and more conscious of our duties to our community. The process, in other words, does not take us into isolation or estrangement from society, but rather makes us aware of how we all are one, in complex webs of interdependence.

Metanoia (psychology), the process of experiencing a psychotic "break down" and subsequent, positive psychological re-building or "healing"

hmm.. been there, done that! well.. still doing that

But I take it this wasn't your meaning of metanoia?

      Metanoia may refer to:

      * Metanoia (theology), repentance
      * Metanoia (rhetoric), correction, a rhetorical device
      * Metanoia (psychology), the process of experiencing a psychotic "break down" and subsequent, positive psychological re-building or "healing"
So, what exactly are you talking about? It's not like this is a common term, so if you're going to make a thread about an obscure subject, add a little content for discussion. Let us know why you are posting these links and what sort of discussion you are trying to engender. Otherwise threads like this are likely to be locked.

Well, I believe I have experienced a metanoia.

So, the first link is explanation of the term.
The second link gives you an idea about how to achieve a metanoia.
And the third link gives you an essay about the type of state that is metanoia.

I remember for myself that metanoia was a process of going beyond (meta) mind (noia). Beyond consciousness so to say to experience the "true nature of things."
Before I had this experience I was interested in Lucid Dreaming. What I recall about my experience is that dream and reality seemed to blend.
In my dreams I remember loosing stability and floating (levitating) and when I wanted two I would walk through walls. These things "seemed" to
transfer into reality and I remember feeling the floating sensation and the walking through wall sensation. (As if I actually levitated and walked through a wall.)
In the essay it talked about two things, Tibetan Dream Yoga and Sufi Spinning (Dance). I also recall an experience of this spinning affect as if the world was spinning.
I'll let you know that things did get a little uncouth at times as if it was a psychotic breakdown. An example is that a persons eyes were warped (large) and voices were amped (loud). Kind of God-like-ish.
Also I seem to loose my motor activity at times... I'm assuming you should read the links if you want to get the idea. Thanks.

Do you continue to experience these psychotic episodes? In any mild form or manner.

If so you may want to get some help.

Dreaming has the potential to take you beyond the mind (metanoia), realizing that it isn't all about a material existence.

Ya, but dreams aren't real my friend. If you experience these things in waking life it could be detrimental to your mental health, not helpful. I know it's pleasant to think your mind is repairing itself, but it's always good to employ some healthy skepticism.

I see what your saying Irken, that's correct. So one of best things you can do if you are in metanoia is just say to yourself, "Oh, this is just a delusion" and not be bothered by it and to try to retain your composure. That's all. I experienced metanoia 6 years ago, so I'm just trying to recall what happened. I don't know, read the articles. One is about the role of metanoia and the development of consciousness. Thanks.

I skimmed through the wiki article, so I'll be sure to read the rest. I'm still a little confused as to the connection between metanoia and dreaming. Or what metanoia really is for that matter. Good luck with whatever this is. Haha
