      A portal to a plane

On this forum, I have seen several usages of the words dream plane and astral plane. My question to you is, could one construct a portal to go to one of these planes if they are both real?

Put your insight in, who knows, maybe it is even possible.

      Thanks

Yes if you can get into a deep enough trance state. Pretend that the darkness behind your closed eyes is an empty three dimensional dark space and you are zooming through the darkness like a rocket. At some point you will see points of light. If you zoom into the lights they will start to look like doorways. When you get really close you will see a dream world/astral plane through the doorway. You can zoom in and out of these portals to visit different dream/astral planes. I have only managed it once but it is freaking awesome...

I meant something such as a portal in the real world. A doorway in my backyard that when I walk through, I automatically end up in the desired plane. Would something like this be possible?

I don't know. The ones I saw were random.

From what I know that's not possible, though I wish it was.
The only portals ive heard of, are ones created in real life, but then accessed through a dream.

Now let's think about this for a minute; Monster99d, you might be on to something.

I too read regularly here that these dream and astral "planes" are actual places, often with unique physics, occupants, even histories, and currently the only way we can construct portals to them is through the dream state. But it's never really discussed why dreams are the only way to access these apparently very real places. If they are real, why couldn't we all go Narnia and set up a doorway to them in our closet, or back yard?

Logically, it follows. I wonder if the inability to explain why access to these planes is limited only to dreams might betray the fact that these planes are not real, but rest completely within the vivid imaginations of the dreamers who visit them? That is of course not a bad thing, and I always applaud the ability of a person who can conjure such grand vision. But in the end is it a good thing to decide that your brilliant invention is a reality unto itself? I'm not sure.

Monster99d, you ask a very important question here, and I hope someone who believes these planes are real can join in and let us know why we can't access them from waking life...

Astral projection, which would presumably involve 'astral matter' on the 'astral plane', is definitely possible while awake. Under the right conditions a person could also have conventional lucid dreams while awake, it just wouldn't be a very good idea while driving.

I don't even see a decisive distinction between 'awake' and 'dreaming' in this context. 'Orb' would be an example of a person who sees 'astral' stuff in normal waking life. Likewise for people who see auras.

I think the use of the word 'plane' is more literal, or maybe less literal, than most people mean it. Its like the worlds 'dimension' or 'vibration' which people use when they are not really talking about those things. But of course that doesn't mean that there isn't something real about it.

Kind of along the same lines....I've become convinced (tentatively of course) that people who experience a transcendent, universal consciousness are mostly just remapping their usual sense of consciousness relative to their internal spatial projection. I don't think what they're aware of is more 'direct' or real than an average person's thought of being in the body. If anything, the I-am-in-the-body thought more accurately models a person's power to manipulate their body and process information that comes in through their eyes. But at the same time, the transcendent, universal-self kind of imagination must have some relation to something real, because learning to do that can have objectively verifiable effects.
