Sylvia browne ..true seer or a fraud?

how many of you people know this woman ? shes a well respected psychic..ive seen her on montal williams couple of years ago..she freaked me out with her predictions..she wrote amazing books on how to tap into your own psychic powers and how to find your spirit guide that would lead you..she claims that she has a spirit guide who tells her stuff from the future..anyways i think shes a true seer

true she looks like a drag queen lol jk kidding but i think shes not a fraud

heres some of her predictions i found online''i dont nessecerly belive in them all but it would be cool if some of them actually happend

      1. Eradication of cancer as we know it, using sound waves, photo sensitive drug therapy, and "self-addicting" cells.
      2. Robotic houses, controlled by computerized switchboard.
      3. Electrical cars with flotation ability for water travel to bypass freeways.
      4. Houses made from pressed paper with plastic coatings; interchangeable walls
      5. Separate body parts cloned for organ transplants; not an entire body.
      6. New form of painless tooth extraction, using a type of suction, with immediate replacement of new tooth.
      7. Diagnostic chambers which map the body's electrical balance to predict health problems before the come.
      8. Cylindrical rooms in which people enter to see an automated projection of the clothing and color that would look good on them; select what you want, take your measurements, then two days later pick up the goods.
      9. Third floor of houses have rollback roofs to allow Hovercrafts to come and go.
      10. No more surgery with knives. Some type of molecular ionization device that knows how to take out the afflicted cells then seal the wound without a single scar.
      11. Remolding of the whole face structure, to duplicate any look that you wish.
      12. New exercise equipment that you sit or stand in, and it literally stimulates your muscles with electricity to achieve the same effect as physical exercise.
      13. Babies will be birthed in water all the time, with music, incense, and green and lavender lights.
      14. People will be able to simply "walk out" of their bodies upon death.
      15. There will be no US Presidency; our government will go back to a Greek Senate structure.
      16. No longer a single Pope, but a triumvirate of Popes, each assigned to a geographic collection of Catholics.
      17. Peace in the Middle East will prevail by 2050.
      18. West Coast goes under in 2026. Parts of the East Coast also get inundated. Tsunamis will wipe out a large portion of Japan. The Hawaiian Islands will have upheaval and be the site of a large new landmass.
      19. Atlantis will begin to show itself by 2023 and be fully visible by 2026.
      20. After 2050, the "Age of the Messiah" is upon us. People turn totally toward Spirituality, peace will rein for a long time. People will return to community living, loving each other, and working together.
      21. Treatment for depression and mood disorders will come from a "control chamber" that emits sensory stimulation gently to the brain, including certain smells, which will elevate mood.
      22. Medicine in pill form goes away; instead we have air-injected delivery through the skin.
      23. Atomic batteries will run cars.
      24. No more gas propelled rockets in space; we will have nuclear powered cylinder shaped objects that travel everywhere.
      25. A moon base is created for people to visit, and as a stopping place for further trips.
      26. By 2055 most people will live in domed cities due to poor atmospheric conditions.
      27. A virtual reality headset will stimulate brain waves so people can learn whole libraries of information within hours.
      28. Giant fruits and vegetables will be grown in hothouse environments. The nutrients will be synthesized into a highly condensed injection.
      29. Proteins are developed without animal meat, very powerful, builds immune system.
      30. Addictions will be a thing of the past because of a brain stimulation, which eradicates all addictions, with no side effects.
      31. Execution for the death penalty will become a complete vaporization of the body.
      32. No separate governments, one planetary government will form.
      33. Great earth changes will occur and germ warfare will be used before the world finds peace. But eventually from all of the bad comes good. The pendulum will swing back to humanity and love.
      34. No world war is coming, but lots of civil disorder and small skirmishes. No nuclear holocaust.
      35. Peace will last from 2050 until 2100, and then I see nothing beyond, which could mean "the end will come like a thief in the night."
      36. Toward the end of things, the veil separating our world from The Other Side will thin, so much so that most people will see decease loved ones and speak with their Spirit Guides.
      37. There will be many false prophets that rise up proclaiming to be Jesus on Earth, and try to lead people astray. We are already seeing this in the big rise of occultism.
      38. People will again find Spirituality, not so much in organized religion, but in the spiritual brotherhood of coming together and finding their Temple within.
      39. Four more comets will pass by before the end times.
      40. Aliens will begin to show themselves in the year 2010, they will not harm us, they simply want to see what we are doing to this planet. They will teach us how to use anti-gravity devices again, such as they did for the pyramids.

Bradybaker did what I was going to do.

Fraud. Her predictions are full of shite, her website had a bunch, and the incorrect ones just mysteriously disappeared.

Oh, just thought I'd add this. She predicted that John Kerry was going to win the election. Oops:

From what i can see some of her preidictions just seem a bit too far fetched for example

      19. Atlantis will begin to show itself by 2023 and be fully visible by 2026.
      20. After 2050, the "Age of the Messiah" is upon us. People turn totally toward Spirituality, peace will rein for a long time. People will return to community living, loving each other, and working together.
      35. Peace will last from 2050 until 2100, and then I see nothing beyond, which could mean "the end will come like a thief in the night."

      7. Diagnostic chambers which map the body's electrical balance to predict health problems before the come.
      14. People will be able to simply "walk out" of their bodies upon death.

some other of her pridictions just seem like the logical evolution of exsisting technology

      1. Eradication of cancer as we know it, using sound waves, photo sensitive drug therapy, and "self-addicting" cells.
      2. Robotic houses, controlled by computerized switchboard.
      5. Separate body parts cloned for organ transplants; not an entire body.

      29. Proteins are developed without animal meat, very powerful, builds immune system.

to be honest the pridictions are intresting . would be nice to meet aliens in 2010

a few of them are what we'd expect, cures for cancer, robot houses, etc. The idea of aliens coming in 2010 i would believe, no world wars or nuclear halocausts is nice, no us presidency is good( there was something about this in some book)atomic batteries running cars i wouldnt trust, executition by vaporization sounds a bit odd "Matter cannot be destroyed nor created" i recall one law stating, what does vaporization actually do?convert to a fine dust?

It's just like wishful thinking, though. Sticking it down on a website dosen't really make it more true than anything else. Anyway, I think James Randi spotted that she used to delete old incorect predictions on her site, from the years before. Yeah.

      Legit or full of shit?

I have seen Sylvia Browne in PA, at Temple. Anyway there she was picking people to come up and have them aska question. Every person walked away as if they were in shock. She basically hit the nail on the head for each of them. I have read alot of her books, almost all of them except for the newest one. Yes very interesting books, great reads. On the other hand I can say I am very friendly with a psychic Glenn Dove on Long Island. He is great friends with John Edwards , another famou psychic one the Island. Anyway I've spoken to Glenn about her and he says that yes she is a areal psychic, but sometimes you dont always get an answer for everyone, it just might not come through. In that case, thats where Sylvia and GLenn differ. Glenn will just straight up tell you he doesnt know. Sylvia is more of a psychic "Bully" She will tell you something and thats how it is. Its set in stone, but many people arent going to speak up to a psychic. Who knows. I feel she is legit, but remember shes like a bully, I dont know how else to explain it.

How odd that you neglected to mention this extremely crucial point in your first post. Think you'd remember something like being picked by a very famous psyhic and then being surprised by her predictions - why, it almost comes across as if you happen to of just lied in my face!

I don't know much about Sylvia, except the few times I've seen her on Montel. It always seemed rather fishy to me, like she would say "I see someone important to you starting with an "S" or a "A", (that's the lady right?) After reading her list of predictions, most of them sound ridiculous and far fetched and some, as someone stated earlier, just seem like obviously likely scientific advancements based on the direction we are already heading. I believe in the psychic ability of some people, especially those who are willing to admit when they don't know something or were wrong about something. I don't know his name unfortunately, but my ex-boyfriend's mother knew a guy in New York that could make predictions based on a photograph, first name, and age. You send him this information and he makes a tape to send back to you. my photo along with my ex and several of her family members were sent and mine were surprisingly accurate. He knew things about me and certain health problems, that I had a college degree I was not doing anything with (which I was), and predicted I would lose a child which I did. It was quite eerie. But back to Sylvia Browne, I'm looking at the Randi site and I think she make have some psychic ability (otherwise she would not be famous) but she also uses fraudelent tactics and will not admit when she is incorrect, therefore I don't trust her.

      ?

Funny, somebody suggested her books to me recently, so I got one from the library and skimmed it. I have a dim view of commercial psychics, but there were a few beliefs that she presented that jibe with a few of my own (reincarnation, people with 'negative' souls, dual male and female godhead) and there were a few passages that struck a chord. There were also many parts that just made me shake my head.

I think that she has some insight (like ALL OF US to some degree) but I think that she is milking it. Her predictions are garbage (either extrapolating known science or regurgitating new-age memes.) I think that I read that she charges for membership in her "church."

Any 'psychic' that uses the first letters thing is using an old trick called planting. They get you to visualize a specific situation in your mind and then fish for more details using general info (growing the plant.) It doesn't work if you don't give away any information for the 'psychic' to use. Phone psychics and bad Tarot readers use the trick ad nauseum, and you don't need to be in on the trick to fall for it. It's psychology, not the paranormal.

A 'true' psychic would need to be able to make a prediction without outside assistance that is both accurate and independently scientifically verifiable. No psychic yet has been able to do all three, and heresay is not scientific proof.

      - that said, I believe in psychic phenomena, go figure?

i try to read a lot of the books that i sell at work, but S. Brown comes off to me as a commercial psychic. she's probably had some successes in helping people out, maybe even finding a missing person for the police. i didnt know her noteriety was from Montell's show. but she's probably let it go to her head.

i dont like John Edwards either

      Sylvia's Predictions

Of course, all pyschics are phonys, but Sylvia Browne and J Edward take the cake. Look at Sylvia's so-called predictions, for one thing. They are for the next 100 years! How can she go wrong? We will all be dead in 100 years, no one will still be around to prove her wrong.
How convenient! It's like watching a weather report, and the forecaster says " we're going to see some snow between now and 2006, and some rain" Ha. ( Imagine going to work, and telling your boss you'll have that report on his desk in 100years!) And people will still follow her. And even when her predictions were for a year, they were either out right wrong, and forgotten, or just plain obvious (like there will be an earthquake in Alaska, which has many every day; or the Pope will become ill). And then there's John Edward. This guy is such an obvious fraud, the people in his audience, must be complete morons. One show I was watching, he actually predicted that someone in the audience was eating in the car on the way to his show! Incredible. I tried to debate this on one of his fan club boards, but I was promptly banned. So much for open minds! " I'm getting a "C"! A "C" sounding name! They're telling me a "C" -- as in CANCELLED?

      Sylvia on Montel

Yes, Sylvia has me all spun up. After spending years researching her fraudulent behaver, I finally saw her on TV for the first time, a few weeks ago, on Montel. And I must say, she was actually much worse than I thought she would be. She seemed tired and annoyed. Typical audience member question:"My (insert whatever dead relative here) died years ago. Is he/she still with me?" Sylvia's response "Yeh. He's behind you. Right now. Every dead person is still with us" Then the next person would ask the same thing, and then the same answer was given!

$4.95 initial, $1.99 each additional minute

yessss! some of these psychics put out "bestsellers" and do the talk show circuit and then all of a sudden their full-on prophets. they dont ever predict anything relevant to humanity. and the questions people ask them are so ego-centric that all you have to do is stroke them the right way and they become suckers, i mean putty, no i do mean suckers.

      Sylvias latest mumbojumbo

Now Sylvia claims that ringing/buzzing in your ears is your Spirit Guide trying to contact you. I always thought it was the medical condition known as tinnitus! (sp?) Now I realize, after all those concerts I went to, the ringing in my ears wasn't hearing damage, it was my Spirit Guide! And it seemed to be loudest after seeing Ozzy Osbourne. Amazing! --I've been reading on one of Sylia's fan message boards, some of her fans are going crazy, trying to relax enough so they can contact their Spirit Guides. And all they need to do is sit in a car and lite a fire cracker, I guarantee, your head will be abuzz with all the Spirit Guides you will ever need. --- And another thought: If Pyschics were for real, there wouldn't be any casinos or state lotteries. But of course, their followers would say"but they only use their powers for good! They wouldn't dream of cleaning out a casino, and giving the winnings to charity, and having the casino shut down for good, thereby sparing countless victims from losing their life savings" ---By the way, in case some of you don't know, Sylvia charges $700.00 for a 30 min phone reading.
