Why can't they donate the winnings to charity? That's always my response to that defense.

      Orbs

More nonsense - on Montel a few weeks ago, someone had a picture of an old house w/ some spots in the picture. Of course, any normal person would know that such things are caused by poor exposure, cheap cameras, sunlight reflecting off raindrops, or some other rational explanation (I am sure a pro photographer can offer a better explanation). Sylvia claims those are orbs and it is a "haunting". (on other shows, they are angels) The person who took the picture was in the audience, and totally shocked and awed by this explanation. I thought he was going to cry! Then came the clincher, Sylvia said the spirit's name is Eliza (or something like that) and the guy agreed that was his great-grandmother's name, they called her LeLe, which may be short for Eliza. Of course, this could be just a lucky guess, but I bet more likely, they had a long interview w/ this guy before the show, which you don't see, and he mentioned her name, which was passed on to Sylvia. Some great psychic.

They do things like that, except more sneakier. On some shows, the people that are going to be "read" or whatever are waiting in the back room off-stage - these are just normal people mind - and they start talking about what they wonder if she'll predict, inevitably mentions names of people, hoping if they will know anything about their dead so-and-so who is called Gwen, etc, and those nuggets of information are passed onto the psyhic. I've got to hand it to them, it's a clever way of doing things...but not exactly clever that they're fooling these innocent people.

Yeah, I know John Edward plants microphones or shills in his audience when they are all standing around talking, before they take their seats. But the sad part is, he doesn't need to do that, he could just throw out random guesses, and people will still think he's some kind of psychic God. I've been reading on his fan club message boards, from some of the people who have been to his shows, and they were mostly very disappointed, talking about how "off" he was, and how rude he can get, yet they still don't see the light, they make excuses for him, saying he was having an "off day" or some other such drival. Now I've seen him only on the Sci-Fi channel, which of course is highly edited, and supposed to show him at his best. I am just amazed at how bad he is, at his rapid-fire mundane questions, very vague suggestions like a "father figure", (which can mean: father, grandfather, uncle, cousin, co-worker, doctor, dentist, neighbor, friend, mail-man, preist, Rabbi, teacher, past, present, future, etc.) and some fool will pick up on it. I just wish I was in that audience, and he picked me for a reading. Of course, what I would say, wouldn't make it on tv.
And I hate his English grammar. He usually will refer to a single person as "they", which of course is wrong, should be he, or she, one would think that a psychic would at least know the sex of the person who "crossed over" and use the proper pronoun. And he always seems to know how a person died. Let's see. If he finds out it's an older person, he usually says he died from "some kind of disease", or, "something to do with the chest or head area". Wow! Aren't the most common causes of death in the US, for an older person, cancer or heart failure? Aren't most of your vital organs in the chest or head area? The man's a genious! And if it is a younger person, he'll say the cause of death is "some kind of accident, or blunt force" Let's see, most younger people who die, it is caused by accidents. And blunt force? That could be a shooting, stabbing, car wreck, falling, suicide, murder,etc... They're really aren't a lot of ways to die. And even if he is wrong, that is promptly forgotten. My favorite cop-out that he uses, when he is completely wrong, "Well, then, it will happen" How can he go wrong? That "r-sounding" name that the person couldn't connect with, will be significant a few months from now (long after that show is over)

      a little of both

Sylvia does make many accurate predictions from serious things (like capturing saddam hussein) to silly things (like jennifer aniston and brad pitt breaking up). However, some of the things she says are far-fetched, like aliens will start to appear in 2010 and help us with anti-gravity devices like they did when they built the pyramids in egypt. This is only 5 years away. If this is true, i will believe everything she says.

      Sylvia

I was reading a transcript of a show Sylvia did on CNN a few years ago. It was quite funny, she told a caller she was positive that her mother died. The caller was really surprised at this revelation since she just talked to her mother recently, and she was very much alive. She told Sylvia she would call her mother again to see if she's alive. You just can't get shit this funny watching Comedy Central!

See...this is why I am usually afraid to share my visions with others, even those close to me. It's arrogant frauds like her that give true seers a bad name and rep.

I think that she is just showing off, & trying to get herself some attention. To tell you the truth, I can only make 75% accurate guesses if I am in solitude or if it isn't simualously . Oh, well. Also, did any of her guesses come true, & if so, how many in a percent?!

Oh yes, Sylvia Browne — the Unsinkable Browne — predicted a Kerry victory in the election, but we might have expected that, since she also predicted that Bill Bradley would win the 2000 election. One thing you must admit: Sylvia's consistent.

uhh.. actually, i watched her 2004 prediction show on Montel and she said that Bush would win.. and she did predict that kerry would win the democratic seat in the election.. maybe you got mixed up

What date was it that she predicted Bush to win? 5 days before the election, when all the poles showed Bush leading? She certainly did make an earlier prediction that Kerry would win, but that was removed from her web site, of course. Too bad she can't predict that her own marriages would end in failure! --Remember when that fake psychic Jean Dixon predicted the Kennedy assassination? This was actually put in her obituary that she predicted this. But they left out the part where she predicted that Kennedy would lose the eclection. How convenient..

Um, I think we are getting too many quotes within quotes, so I don't know if the previous post is asking to prove, as I have stated, that there are no true seers, or are you asking someone to prove that there are? Now I certainly beleive that there are no true seers, there has been no proof whatsoever that there is such a thing. Why doesn't someone offer some solid proof otherwise? And by the way, saying that I can't prove that is not possible for seers to exist, is not proof either. Does that make sense? Maybe an analogy: If a cop pulls you over for going through a red light, and he didn't see you do it, he should give you a ticket anyway, because he can't prove you didn't. Lack of evidence is not evidence

it was around december 2003 when she predicted it. She always has those year in prediction shows on Montel in which she tries to predict whats going to happen in the upcoming year.

Shakespeare once wrote, "The lady doth protest too much, methinks." The thing is, all of these women are fakers who want attention so bad they'll claim to be something they're not, so much so that the whole idea that they cling to is utterly discredited.

I said I'm a seer, and I gave evidence, damnit. Granted I've only had one vision for which the event actually came to be, and any staunch realist can rip it to shreds, but whatever.

Heh I understand, my fancy twisting-in-on themselves words aren't great when you want something easily understandable. I was asking for proof that they are not frauds.
