I met another lucid dreamer in my lucid dream!

Without getting into a philosophical debate about whether our subconscious minds are personal or collective (shared between all in the same way as the physical world or only in our own minds). I had an interesting dream experience last night. In this dream I met a guy from New York city, I think he was sitting on a log or a stone. I sat with him and asked him if he knew we were dreaming. He said that he did. I commented on how amazingly real this world was and he agreed. We then chatted for a while about music and then performed some magic tricks for each other. I made coloured bubbles float out of my hands until they had filled the room, he made some kind of firework come out of his head and explode high above us in a dazzle of sound and light (his trick was better)!

Anyone else had this kind of experience - ie. meeting fellow lucid dreamers.
Has anyone out there met each other in a dream?
If yes have you ever proved this by each pointing out aspects of the dream to each other?

It would be nice to think that it is a world as real as this one?
Maybe the next whirl on the spiral?

do you mean pointing out aspects of the dream while still IN the dream?

or verifying aspects of the dream after you've woken up?

I mean pointing out aspects of the dream after waking up.

      This would prove subconscious connection.

If it happens again, ask for the other person's email address or name or something so that you can try find 'em and see if it was really another person or if your mind was making it up. I'm thinking the latter though

nah, im pretty sure if you asked a lucid dreamer for their phone number you could contact them

dreams are as real as waking life, they are basically the same thing as astral projection (which you can easily interact with other people) except with the addition of a lot of imagination

      ne way
      Why?

This isn't the first lucid dream I've had where I have met people. I had one a couple of weeks ago where I met a girl, took hold of her hand and said to her " listen, I want you to stay calm, but I've got something to tell you, we are actually dreaming now"! She said "Oh my god, your'e right we are"!

I try to keep a balanced opinion about this.

      Either I am:

Inventing these people and they are based only in my PERSONAL subconscious mind.

Or these people are real and we are all sharing an experience within a COLLECTIVE subconscious, or astral plain of existence.

I am going lucid 2-3 times a week now and I have to admit that when I am dreaming, I find myself in a world that seems every bit as real as the physical world.

I think your mind just created a very realistic DC. Unless you give me an adress I don't buy it... However, when I am LDing I will try to look for some other people and get their adress and stuff and check Seems like fun to see what your brain makes up =D

i agree with what the others have said. from the information you have given, it seems likely these are very realistic dream characters.

perhaps you should create an easily remembered email account- eg. [email protected].

when you encounter what appears to be another lucid dreamer, tell them the address and get them to repeat it many times. then, tell them to remember it when they wake up, and email you describing the dream.
if you actually get an email, you can have almost solid proof.

I meet a guy who dreamt all the time about going around seeing people sleep walking in his dreams he spent heaps of time trying to explain to them they where dreaming. He was a friend of mine in my old home town....... he was a interesting guy only drank water and would only have the purest materials on his skin and so on, more so than anyone ive ever met... so anyhow the last i heard from him through a good mate of mine is that he was having one of those dreams and he met someone too who was just as lucid so get this the girl he met in the dream and they swaped addresses and hooked up in real or walking life!!!!! its amazing I never heard or bumpped into him to confirm it, it would be great if i could dream of him and find out

another variation of this is from a a group of lucid dreamers that said to each other before they slept that they would all look at the same postcard of a mountain and that they would meet at a certain point in the picture and then lucid dream together exploring the post card.... this was in a book i read years ago

its all very far out but would make for a great experiment!! maybe someone could post a pic here on a thread and we could see what comes?

Thanks for the ideas earthtriber and asher, I like them a lot and will certainly give them a go. Maybe we could combine them? The research forum has a thread for a shared dream experiment that many have signed up to. I will try to find a good picture to post. I am thinking a landscape, not to gloomy, maybe with a building? Could post it here and on the shared dream experiment thread in the research forum.

If we can get it started I will start a new thread in research to monitor progress, and so we can confirm/ disprove dream contact with each other.

If we can get a picture with a building, I might try and hide an object in the building during an LD for others to try and locate and discover what it is. I know that sounds unlikely to work, but it might add a bit of fun.

Maybe we will all bump into each other, although even if it is possible time zones could be a factor.

I've met "lucid dreamers" in my LDs several times. It turns out however that they were just dream constructs. VERY VERY real dream constructs.

You could always tell the dreamer to come to dreamviews and PM you.
you must be the change you wish to see in the world...
