You could get the book "Astral Dynamics" by Robert Bruce. It's very highly recommended by most who do AP/OBE. I have it but haven't read it yet. |

Knowledge is power.
yea I believe in OBE but I do not believe at all that it is the physical seperation of your body. It's all in the mind. From what I heard from my mom people get it when they are under so much stress. A mechanism in their body creates that so they feel good and light, because they are under so much stress. It is protection that we have because otherwise you could go in shock or whatever you're going through would be unbearable. It is a chemical in your brain that does this. |

Never had anything close to an OBE but now I want one |

Neither Will alone, nor Strength alone.
From the books I've read, in a lucid dream you are in your mind and you are the master of the world. You can change it, control it, shape it to your own desires, you are literally "the man". In an OBE, you're not just away from your body and you're not always in the real world if you even are at all. You travel trough astral planes which are described in many books. Your perception is altered, you don't see with your physical eyes but with your mind. If you visit an area that you know nothing about, the images are blurry and shapeless. You can often get attacked by astral creatures like in the book "Techniques of astral combat". Unlike when you are lucid dreaming, you can't just will these creatures away, you have to fight them or run. But you may not even see them properly, or the world around for that matter, like I said you need some preliminary knowledge to recognise the environment and you need knowledge of the entities to be able to shape them and attack them. In that book the technique described for achieving astral projection is quite similar to the WILD technique for a lucid dream, they just call it "trance induction technique" and they speak nothing of lucid dreaming. In the books where both lucid dreaming and astral projection are seen as existent, it is said you can use lucid dreaming to go into an AP, one way is to climb a tall building and jump off, willing yourself out of the body. There are also visualisation techniques, it is said that if you imagine a well and then you imagine yourself falling down into it and plunging into the bottom you can induce an OBE. There is also the famous technique by Robert Monroe, but it's a little bit complicated, even if stated to be effective. The Monroe Institue has also released some audio cds that can help induce lucid dreaming and astral projection, just search "hemi-sync", it's the technology used in the audios. |

You've probably done it unintentionally anyway. It's not something you have complete control over. Often what you thought was a dream has actually been you leaving the body. It happens. Some even say it happens at some point every time you're asleep. I've even heard statements that Lucid Dreaming and Astral Projection, or Out of Body Experience, are simply different names for the same thing. Yet others claim there are no APs and OBEs, it's all just LD. Or the opposite, it's all AP, you're never really dreaming. Lots of people, scientists, religious figures, etc with their own theories and beliefs. |

So, in theory, when you have an OBE or AP and you fight these creatures, if you're injured, your spirit or soul gets injured? Much like how if you screw a succubus in your sleep you'll wake up exhausted and possibly even in pain? |

Well those are often the creatures you see in your dreams. They only want to feed on you. So the question is actually whether a nightmare can kill. Well, surely, if you're on your death bed and have a very faint heart, you won't survive the shock of a nightmare. Astral combat is about confronting those creatures instead of just running away from them. The form of your soul is created by your mind, so it can't really be damaged, but feels pain that can also be transmitted to the body. They say in dreams it doesn't hurt. They lie. |

Pretty much anything. They usually draw shapes and textures from your memory to take form. Often they are wild animals, alien creatures, etc. If you lack the knowledge to recognize them, they could appear as shapeless blobs. It's written in detail in the book "Techniques of Astral Combat" by G. Travels. I've read several books on OBE and I found this one most interesting. |
