      Sleeping into myself

      Hi,

first of all, sorry if this has been discussed before. I've tried searching but I'm not good at it so it's very difficult for me to find things.

I'm new in this forum, but I thought I might tell something which happened to me a few years ago, in order to get some comments.

Usually I dream a lot of strange things, and occasionally 'special' things happen. Anyways, this event happened about 3 years ago while I was in the navy in the mediterranean, on one of these NATO 'fighting terrorists'-missions. It was very stressing and tiresome, so a lot of strange things happened on that trip.

Well, one of these times, in the morning, I was half asleep when I noticed I started to 'fall into myself' (the kind of feeling when you are sinking into deep sleep). I lost the outside world but remained conscious. I sunk deeper and deeper into myself, much more so than when I usually sleep. It was extremely comfortable and I felt very relieved. I wanted to sink even deeper. But then, I got a feeling that I was sinking too deep; I was about to sleep away for good and never wake up. It still was immensely comfortable, but I didn't want to allow myself anymore sinking, afraid of what might happen.

I had to struggle to get awake. I can usually awake myself from a dream if I find it necessary, but this time it was very difficult. At last I got higher and higher, and finally opened my eyes.

The whole experience was a bit scary, especially since it was so very comfortable to 'sink'. To this day I still don't know what would've happened if I hadn't stopped. This kind of thing has happened once or twice before that, I think.

Any ideas or comments would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like the beginning of Astral projection effects (or a Wild). Some believe we actually leave our bodies every night, and some believe we are just inducing lucid dreams. Had you continued, you probably would have started to feel the vibrations associated with astral body generation. The falling sensation is the first of these that one feels.

This was just a hypnogogic hallucination. Most likely you were entering something like WILD. Worst thing to do in such situation is panic and struggle.

I had experiences smoking salvia divinorum that were very similar - I found myself in another world and had this feeeling that I'm about to switch and forever live in that new world. I even went along with the flow and dared that to happen, but as you can see I'm still here

      you are so right Ev,
I have experienced 3 really intense Psilocybin/Psilocyn Mushroom trips and they have all had a very similar nature as dreams have. And the most Important thing: DON't Fight it, don't try to gain Controll .. No matter how wild the ride is...just go along with it and let it take you wherever it decides to.
Fighting it would only be fighting yourself since Mushrooms and other Psychedelics bring out the True Self in people , The SubConcious Mind (which by some is percieved as Profound religious/spiritual magical experiences and by others perceived as too overwhelming and hellascary). It's not The Psychedelic substance or, in this case, dreamsensation that induces the fear but your Reaction TO it.

Dreams are an everynight Psychedelic phenomenon of somewhat the same nature:
In fact I once used the Insights (those of NOT to struggle and Fight whatever is happening to you) obtained by mushroom trips to counter the intense fear of waking up while still paralised. Sometimes I would ''wake up'' , then find my body still completely asleep and paralised. I have always freaked out and tried to sit up straigh and really waken as it felt as though I couldn't breathe either. This usually fails. sometimes I wake up with my eyes on Paranoid and gasping for air.

On a certain night after 2 of these mushroom-trips I found myself in this same state again: Like my Mind awoke but my Body wouldn't awake with it. I recognised it as the state I had experienced so many times before. But this time I didn't Freak out. It was a bit of a scary in the ''I lost control!'' sense of way, but then soon I told myself not to worry since this isn't anything out of the oprdinairy or dangerious. and I fell back asleep peacefully and fearless. The mushrooms have taught me not to just Freak out and ''flow with it'' when I find myself in another State of Conciousness. Great Lesson to be learned.

BTW:I have smoked Salvia Extract 5X (the weakest extract) but alas: no trip.Very brief and mild relaxing sensations though. I might try Salvia extract 20X one day.
