      Trapped In Purgatory

Last night I had one of the most active dream nights and can remember. I can recall 6 dreams. Some vague & some vivid.
But here is the deal. Last night I was having a nightmare and I was becoming Lucid which slipped me into another dream. I again gained the ability to go lucid. The dream began to change into that same nightmare when I told myself - I am in control!
This is where it gets freaky. When I tried to change the dream seen everything went black. But I was still conscious. Conscious for what seemed to be forever. I could not snap out of it. It scared the crap out of Me.
Was this some sort of sleep paralysis but with my eyes closed?
Or was I stuck in a dream void or something. All I wanted to do was wake up. It freaked me out! It was as if my mind was determined to have that nightmare.

Hi Howetzer. I think I may have some kind of idea in regards to what happened to you during that uncomfortable experience. I believe what may have happen was, once you realized the dream and became Lucid you were probably just ending your REM Period. Once you're out of REM then of course as you are well aware then you are not dreaming. Your body at this moment is resting, but you were still conscious during your non-rem period. I've actually had that happen to me once. Its like you're watching a movie and then all of a sudden the lights go out and you are watching a blank screen.

I think this may be what you have experienced but I could be wrong. Just try not to let these things discourage your Lucidity. Keep on doing what you are doing. You are fine, Maybe the next time it happens to you, you can call out my name and I'll come and sit in the dark with you. =)

I think your right. Your experiance sounds similar to mine. and also thanks for the support. The dark is not a fun place to be by yourself.
Thanks You can turn the switch on

      WELCOME WELCOME WELCOME

Thanks. The more I think about it the more I am convinced I was trapped in sleep paralysis but with my eyes closed. I guess. If that is possible.

I read about this before actually. It happens when your mind can't keep up with your actions in your dreams, so you end up getting dumped into nothingness. It also happens sometimes when you walk through mirrors and/or spin around without actually visualizing your destination.

The way to fix it would to be spin again while concentrating hard on your thoughts.

Though this was only what I read. Switch's thought about sleep paralysis is probably more viable because she's experienced it herself.

      Good luck with it though.

I call it limbo land or simply the void, I think its more of a place between waking and sleeping, you can either get into another dream or the astral plane from that or wake up, but getting stuck there forever doesnt happen so dont worry about it, I end up there all the time

HEY!! Actually squall, when I did tried to change the dream seen I layed my head back and closed my eyes. But your right. I had no prethought destination. I just wanted out of that seen.

Lucius Well it apparently happens to several people, so next time I will concentrate on a desination instead of freaking out. THANKS!

wow that's weird. Recently, everytime I knew I was dreaming, the same thing happened; all the images and sounds would just dissappear and leave me in the dark. The only difference is that I didn't find that freaky, only boring. Everytime this thing happened, i would tell myself "Damnit! I wanna dream!!!! "

Life. Have you tried concentrating and spinning to another seen, like squall had mentioned? That is what I am going to try if it happens to me again.
How ling did it seem like you were in the void?

I had another type of thing happen to me several days ago and lucid apple explained it quite well. But because of the dubmbass hijacker the post is lost. I will ask lucid apple to again explain it to me.
Last night I had an even more odd expiriance than the last. Lucid apple explains somthing in regard to near death expieriances. I need for him to eloborate on that one some more.

The second expieriance seemed to last as long as ten or more minutes where I was concious but I had no audio or visual input. I was just there with my thoughts. I guess it would be like being deaf and blind & paralyzed. It was very freaky.

I will explain the third incident after Lucid apple explains the first two. I would make an ettempt only to mess up the facts.

      hmm... i think

I think what lucid apple said was that it was only Deep sleep. The kinda sleep where your mind is resting and Your mind doesnt really put out any dreams, the only thing there is your thoughts. You can sometimes get there from sleeping in a lucid dream, and sometimes go into a deeper sleep and have a "near death experiance."

This sounds like you experienced some time in eternity. Scary stuff if your ego goes with you.

next time it happens... let go and enjoy

if you have no thoughts while this happens it's amazing.

Hello midknight. I believe you are new.

How on earth (or not on earth) do I just let go. I have a difficult time letting go in my LDs.

Just don't worry about anything. I know the transition between sleep and awake can be terrifying. But once you break through and are thoughtless. It can better than living out your fantasies.

Just let your mind be off for a while. I love it.

Not to mention calming down will let it lead to an L.D.

The greatest ruiner of an L.D. is excitement

Believe me it is not that I do not eprreciate LDs, because I do. But instead of leading onto a lucid dream I want to expieriance this near death expierence that has been discussed.
It is as if when you go some where in your mind there is no going back.
Everytime I think I have expierianced most of these techniques & topics somthing new happens. It's great
