OBEs- a different type of LD?

About 10 years ago I discovered something quite different in my LD. I had been having OBEs quite regularly when I would nap after work in the late afternoon, but I had not much success in “moving around”.

Then, one afternoon, I found myself in a “cave”, looked at my hands, and realised I was dreaming.

To my left side were sitting my two young “nephews”, who had appeared before in my LD as DCs.

They looked at me expectantly and one said: “Go on then!”

I didn’t have a clue what they were talking about, and then one said: “Go on then! Do the jump!”

I realised that they were telling me “to jump”, so I took it literally and jumped up in the air on the spot. I rose up seemingly about 20 feet and then I came to a standstill at the top of the jump.. and then.. BANG!

There I was, in my living room, looking at my sleeping body, having an OBE..

I had “jumped” from a “normal” LD scenario into an “OBE” one, and I began to realise that an OBE was another type of lucid dream, closely connected to "normal" LD.

I have done it again since and it works almost every time, although often, as is the case with LD, I forget to try it, lose my dreaming attention, and get pulled into some bizarre dream with no lucidity.

Has anyone here had a similar experience? Does anyone here have OBEs during LD?

[NB For those who think that such a post belongs in the “Beyond Dreaming” forum, I would beg to differ].

Not directly related, but I have to agree that OBE is a kind of LD. My second LD was an OBE, I saw myself sleeping, but not in my own bed. What was weird about it was that I clearly saw myself as as having a bit more weight that I thought of myself, only to have my wife tell me later that day that I have taken some weight - like in my dream I saw myself more realistically than what I normally think of myself. But it was definately a lucid dream.

Good reading on the relation of LDs and OBEs at the Lucidity Institute:OUT-OF-BODY EXPERIENCES AND LUCID DREAMS

Well..thanks for the link, but I've read better. When you boil this article down, there's not a lot of substance to it.. and lots of filler to come to the conclusion which just says "maybe"..

.. but I appreciate your action.

Can any of the Mods explain why this topic was moved from the General Lucid forum?

Because if you read my description, you will surely see that there was a connection between my LD and OBEs...

I moved it because the General Lucid Dicussion is for LDs only - anything related to OBE's, etc., belongs in the Beyond Dreaming forum. I understand your topic also discusses LDs, but I felt it was better suited here.

IMO OBEs are just LDs without the story/weird crap going on..

I've only had one concious OBE/astral projection, but I've been trying to do more and I find I can't because I always am either not relaxed enough, or I maintain a TOO high level of conciousness...

I really want someone teach me to do them better...

Yes you can be in a lucid dream and go into a OBE.
