This place where I used to work seemed haunted. Lots of strange things happened there. I am wondering if anyone else has experienced a haunting and what it was like.

My study last year was v. weird.
Loads of stuff kept falling off the walls when conversation stopped and at one point an empty bottle of ice tea flew across the room as if it had been thrown. Although I'd like to think that this was probably just a draft caused by the awkward shape of the room and not some poltergeist who was trying to start more conversation.

edit: It was a small room with a shape that resembled a wind tunnel with a window on a north facing (therefore very windy) wall.
Expect the unexpected - when it arrives ask it if you are dreaming.

I was once riding my bike home from a late soccer match, and on the dirt road to the farm house I was staying in with my aunt and uncle, I saw this figure on the side of the road in the moonlight, a tall thin man wearing a cloak and a top hat, he was incredibly black if that makes sense (not african american, but like, dark shadow black) and he was looking at me, even though I couldn't see his eyes under the shadow of the hat I could feel his eyes boring into me.

I was overcome with fear, like terrible panicky fear, I was sweating and my mind was racing, my heart beating really fast, I was so terrified I wanted to jump of my bike and run away (which makes absolutely no sense, because I could ride away faster than I could run) because I believed he was death and that he had power over things like motor-bikes, and I knew in my heart that there was no way he could be anything other than death himself come to collect my soul, with that certainty you have as a child when you run away after flushing the toilet at night because you know that when you turn off the bathroom light if you don't run away the bogeyman is going to come up out the loudly flushing toilet and rip out your eyeballs.

I didn't flee in terror, I kept riding and when I got closer he became a sunflower in the moonlight. This all happened in about 2 seconds. When I rode past 'him' I felt like I had just witnessed something big, like an energy in the air, and I felt like if I listened really carefully I would hear distant laughing.

That's not exactly a ghost story, but I think it qualifies as freaky anyway!

When once you have tasted flight,
You will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward,
      For there you have been,
And there you will always long to return

Well...my apartment building used to be a parachute factory in WWII and there used to be a lot of deaths by heavy, dangerous machinery.

Anyway...once I was watching tv and this thing we have hanging on the wall just fell off and a trumpet case close to it fell over. I thought that was weird and got a little scared (especially knowing in the back of my mind that people had died in the building).

Then a few months later, my husband and I decided to sleep on an extra bed we had downstairs instead of our bed on the second floor. Late that night I wok up FREEZING looking for more covers. When I sat up I saw a male figure standing a few feet away from the bed wearing a hat. I closed my eyes real hard and when I opened them, nothing was there.

Then a few months after that I was walking from my car to the parking lot (it was rather dark)and looked up to the third floor into our windows and saw a figure of my husband in a blue shirt and a hat waving to me. I waved back. When I got upstairs i told my husband I thought it was cute that he was looking out awaiting my arrival home. He said he's been upstairs for hours. I asked hime, "No, you were just waving to me from the window..in a blue shirt." He said he wasn't.

So pretty much I'm seeing a man with a hat a few times a year...nothing really too scary.
