Tightness in the Eyes and Brain

I woke up early in the morning still tired and decided this was a good opportunity to try to do an OBE to see if I could put my body asleep with my mind awake, about 15 minutes into it my eyes started moving randomly even though I was seeing no dream imagery and also a tightness came into my eyes and they moved down and this feeling was also inside my skull, I started seeing faint colours and couldn't feel my body at all as this point and then it disappeared.

Was this on the verge of my body going asleep or something else?

      *Ahem*, could be many things.

Your body is usually stone dead before your eyes start doing the trippy thing.

Your eyes could have been moving up instead of down, since you had the pressure feeling, and possibly some third eye stuff going on there, but doesn't usually happen, unless you have no thoughts running around, and are concentrated on nothing.

Faint colours? Probably hypnagogics, though since your eyes were moving by themselves, and you only got the faint colours then, it could be something else.

Your body felt like it disappeared, or was it more like you weren't at your body? ie. you felt like you weren't in your body, or were in the darkness and your body was moving away.

I know a few DV members will disagree with this, but it sounds like your pineal gland being slightly stimulated, though it all depends on where your concentration was; I've come to realize that i get a strong "pressure" in my head when doing anything meditative.

Though, it could just be some hypnagogic imagery, and you nearly had an AP, or a WILD.
You merely have to change your point of view slightly, and then that glass will sparkle when it reflects the light.

I was concentrating on putting my body asleep while keeping my mind awake, I just felt the body go limp and my feeling in the body gradually decrease as it got further and further relaxed. The only OBE's I have had so far have been exist techniques I have used while being lucid in dream.

Since you seem to have your body going dead pretty much down packed,
concentrate, at this point, to get your brain waves down to the next level.

Imagine you're in an elevator, going down with each exhale, but stopping on the inhale.
It doesn't have to be in an elevator though, you could imagine you are floating on a feather, a leaf, or you are in a bubble.
This "fallinf down" will mentally put you into lower brain wave sequence.

You'll know when you are there, because everything will seem bigger, as if the whole world is there. You'll be able to hear tiny little things, and sudden loud noises will actually feel somewhat slightly "painful" (like a blow).

Once you are in this stage, stop the falling down technique.

Now, you can proceed using a conscious exit technique.

The ROPE technique is extremely effective, so you might like to try that one first.
You merely have to change your point of view slightly, and then that glass will sparkle when it reflects the light.
