      dream empath??!!

ok last night i had a dream and this is the first time i realized it that people in my dream act differently than in real life not in the fact that its my dream but in the fact of their emotions and feelings.

i can remember i had a dream a few weeks ago . and one of my freinds was upset and he acted upset. the next day in real life the same freind was upset.

last night i had another one of the dreams where every one was acting out there emotions so today i am going to keep a watch out for those people i saw in my dream

has any one ever had this before and not just preminitions and yes i cant spell preminitions

Empathy: n. 1. The ability to sense and/or understand emotion(s) from another person, animal, inanimate objects incorporating stimulation to any and or all of the senses (including the 6th Sense) without verbally being told and/or without obvious visual clues. 2. The ability to be sensitive and receptive to outside emotional stimuli. - adj. empathic or empathetic., v. to empathize

      intuition

That is a real interesting question docthory!

Something I should pay closer attention to. But to answeer your question, I personally don't recall this for myself.
But to add my two cents (thats only worth 1/2 a cent) I would think with our highly intuitive makeup and the countless signals that a person can give off through body language, tone of voice, gesture etc.

I could most definitally see how our subconscious could put together a fairly accurate assumtion on someones emotional state.

I'm gonna play around with this idea a bit.. empathy really comes natural in waking life.. but in a dream.. this i gotta try to check out. It would be interesting to know more of the "why" after i see if i can do it..

That is a good point. In my regular dreams I have shown empathy as like you said TheUnknown, "Empathy really comes natural in waking life."

But as far as where I stand now and what I believe dream charachter to be, I don't think I show the same empathy. I have looked back and thought about most of my lucid dreams.
I think that dream characters are some manifestation of yourself. I have not shown anything but frustration or anger at my DCs. Not thinking of this at the time of lucidity.
Now I think could I show the same empahty towards a dream chracter if I do not believe them to be real people?
And if they are some aspect of myself........Well shouldn't I be nice to myself

hehe, I've already done the next level. Keep control of your dream body, while taking over the dream character, and be both at the same time. Sounds impossible eh? Well, its harder to explain then to do. Basically, you just need to believe you can do multiple things at once, and since the mind is alot freer in LDs.. its possible to become the dream character.

I played around with this a bit.. and found i could sometimes go into the minds of the dream character, and they would not have the same thoughts and memories as I had in "my" mind.

This is starting to open a whole new world to me, the ability to become more then one person, and to bilocate in a dream.. I wonder.. if this can be extended to go as far as dreaming while awake? Or even stranger.. how about an OBE while still controlling your body, and the OBE outside of it.. (one could imagine the possibility during a boring class and such).

Unfortunatly, i'm not very good at OBEing.. so I can really only try this sorta thing in an LD. The first time I did it was so creeepy.. I was talking to the person.. and then I relized I could see myself, and hear myself talkingm and talk back and forth.. it was REALLY REALLY strange..

As for dreaming while awake.. long time ago I used to sometimes sleepwalk while in a dream.. and be aware I was sleepwalking, and dream at the same time (i remember one time i was flying through the clouds, while simultaneously going to the bathroom walking into the kitchen and drinking a glass of water before i snapped out of it.)

Love to know if someone else can do this.

The First lucid dream i ever had (and i have a posted this in the forum many a time)

it was really long, like 15 mins, which seemed like an eternity of course..
near the end of the dream...
      A doctor said to me.

      "Dreams Are Apathy... or Empathy,"

      I'm not sure which one..
      haha, but anyways,
if it was empathy, that'd be neat,
They say dreaming is dead and noone does it anymore. It's not dead, it's just been forgotten, removed from our language. Nobody teaches it, so nobody knows it exists. .. waking life
