Red face Can you prevent OBEs?

Okay for the past month, I've learned about controlling my dream and I've successfully had lucid dreams. But, I've heard attempting lucid dreams can lead to OBEs (Outer Body Experiences for the slow ones). And that sounds pretty damn freaky. I'd like my soul to stay inside my body thankyouverymuch. So, is there a way that I can prevent it? Because I want to have lucid dreams without worrying that I'll be floating over my sleeping body. Thanks in advance!

er, OBEs are still in your head. It's not like you're actually floating around in real life.

      Many would say otherwise,

      Nothing is for sure,

Have you ever experienced an OBE? If you did you might be saying otherwise,

I think there are things in this Universe of ours that we just can't explain, and things we shouldn't be so quick to dismiss...

      Just my view..

I guess you need to examine your reasons why you consider it freaky, and realise yes it could happen to you while you are sleeping,

but I think if you honestly dont want them, than you will be more closed to the experience and less susceptible to it

Just maybe research as much as you can about OBE's , and maybe you will learn its not something to be freaked out about, or you may just keep your view

Anyways, wishing you all the best

*Just on a side note * Most people in this forum would kill to have an OBE, haha, not as many would kill to NOT have one

      No worries

Yeah 2 kinds of OBE's. The dream state ones where everything is all trippy, and the real ones where you can know things you cannot know. Scientists can create the dream type OBE's from the temperole(sp?) lobe.

      I LOL'ed - It's out of body, not outer body .

The few times I have had an OBE, I just proceeded to carry on with a regular lucid dream. I didn't feel different, and I felt the same as I do in (most) dreams. Whether or not you want to debate what is really going on is the same as if you want to debate whether or not dreams have messages...It all depends on the person.

If they make you uncomfortable, that's perfectly fine. The only time I seem to have OBEs is when I wake prematurely from a dream into Sleep Paralysis, and have to roll over to get things moving.

Lucid dreaming isn't always intentional. Astral Projection usually is! Just research astral projection and know how to do it, and then just don't do what it says. Obtaining and OBE is not as easy as people make it out to be!

As for me, I'll just stick with lucid dreaming. I don't want to talk to the dead and encounter demons and other evil spirits. I especially don't want to open any doors through astral projection, if you know what I mean.
