      Second life and the Dreamscape

      technology has progressed to the point where we now have an online 3d world called second life; a place people can go and talk to others in a 3d realm with very little rules. Its all open-source and people can see your artistic expsression unfold in real time. Is it possible we are trying to progress technologically until we only live inside our imaginations, just like lucid dreams?

      The discovery and use of fire was the catalyst for a major shift in Human evolution. With fire came improved tools for hunting and the ability to cook and preserve meat. This resulted in a huge increase in the amount of protien humans could consume and metabolize. This resulted in a significant increase in brain size and physical stature.

      Who's to say that the recent explosion in technological advances are not similar to the evolutionary catalyst of fire? Perhaps the next step in Human evolution will be similar to a Borg-like existence...
