Felt an etheric body rise out of me - not my own. What could that be?

I've had numerous experiences with OBEs, however, recently I've been experiencing something quite different. Instead of feeling my own etheric/subtle body rise out of my physical one, when I relax my body before sleep, sometimes I feel someone else's etheric/astral body rise out of me, while my consciousness remains in my physical body. It feels very much like OBE, but the only difference is that my awareness is in my physical body and I observe/feel someone else's ethereal body or energy (whatever it is) rise out of me.

What could this be? It definitely doesn't feel like my own essence. I've read that sometimes a spirit can inhabit a person's body, so could that be it...that whatever spirit has inhabited my body was leaving it? The whole experience was a bit freightening and I'd just like to get some feedback on what it could be. Thanks.

      freaky!

you know what, why don't you head on over to the astral projection forum. they have an extensive forum that offers advice if you feel, something, freakish has happened to you

      http://forums.astraldynamics.com/index.php

look at psychic defense and spirit problems

I'm not an avid OBEr. so I couldnt tell you if this is a normal thing for OBEing or not. the regulars on the forum though are friendly and experienced in what ever it is they do

      Hi there!

It happens when you have no recollection of the double's experiences. For some reason the memories don't get downloaded to your residual etheric body so the only thing you are aware of is the separation. How far you can perceive the double? If it fades gradually and quickly then I guess you like to shoot up into the sky right after separation but you never finalize your projections.

Instead of going as far as you can then waking up suddenly, you can spin back to your body with memories fully intact. One way to do that is to anchor yourself somewhere out there and start to think about the room you sleep in. You don't want to think about your body but rather the energy field that surrounds it. Then try to swirl that field around your body while still anchoring yourself to your "astral" environment. Start to zoom the spinning sensation on your sleeping body and you will be drawn back with full memories.

WBTB means wake back to bed, usually a period of sleep interruption that takes more than 15 minutes.

      Hi LNF

Robert Bruce talks about a "Mind-Split" phenomenon over at astraldynamics. I think that is what is happening to you. Your consciousness remains in the physical while the etheric separates.

I’ve had experiences where my consciousness is in both bodies at the same time.

If you want more information, hike on over to the website and do a search for Mind-Split.
