      Bloody Mary help.

Ever since second grade I have been scared off and on for about month at a time. People always talked about Bloody Mary. I know it's probably fake.. hopefully... but even my dad said he saw something and he doesn't believe in that stuff. Now, my imagination has been re sparked and I am sick of it. I know it's probably not real, just a folklore but I still can't get it out of my head. It's like my mind screams Bloody Mary in my head in the dark. I can't take it anymore.

      Is it real?

How do I get this out of my head?

Go say it to a mirror. When nothing happens, you will see nothing can or ever will happen.

Yeah, you need to prove to yourself that its not real.

As the legend goes, if you say it three times in front of a mirror then she will kill you.

So try it, and I am sure you'll be fine.

When I was a kid me and a couple of my friends were obsessed with paranormal stuff. When other kids our age were at the school dance we'd sit around in a darkened room with lit candles playing around with an Ouija board. And we've tried the bloody mary thing more than once. And as far as I can tell, we're all still pretty much alive. And, atleast physically, unharmed.

I think at a certain age, it's ingrained in our minds to push the red button!!

Why else is your mind having this battle? One side saying Bloody Mary and the other side saying, "no...don't say that!". It's become this red button in your mind.

I don't think going to a mirror will help you. Since you're already saying it in your head. It would be different if you only think about it when you look in the mirror, but that's not the case. .

When I was in middle school, I was always afraid to look at the mirror at night time. Not because I believed in Bloody Mary, more so because I was afraid I would be......tempted to say Bloody Mary. Being Catholic, that was a no-no . Temptation, red button. Same thing.

In my catholic childhood I was afraid that the words themselves could invoke evil into your life or being. In other words, even when nothing happened after I said it in front of the mirror, I still had the fear I just invoked something evil.

My fear didn't end at the mirror. It carried into my bedroom at night too. So I too had thoughts in my head I became afraid of. To the point when one night I actually gave myself an anxiety attack when the troublesome 'evil' thoughts wouldn't go away.

I know you're problbably thinking crazy! But I was young and I had a strong catholic background which loves to lecture you about all the demons after your mind.

But do the words Bloody Mary invoke bad spirits? No. But if you believe in the supernatural, fear is troublesome. Or if you don't believe in bad spirits, your fear can still make you see and hear things.

It's not the words themselves you need to worry about. Just the FEAR of the words. Or the fear of anything for that matter.

The only reason why your mind is thinking "BLOODY MARY!" is because you had some fear of the word. Maybe because you believed in the supernatural (is that why you posted here?) Because you feared the word, your mind labeled it as a red button. Which then the other half of your mind was like...OMG RED BUTTON LET'S PUSH IT. So, it pushed it. At least thats how I see it from experience.

Once you stop fearing the words, you're mind will find the words boring and will stop pushing it

Let's say you are still having trouble getting a control of your thoughts, and you hear your thoughts screaming "Bloody Mary!". Take control of your thoughts by altering the sentance. "Bloody Mary....is a silly superstition". You can do this with any troublesome thoughts that keep you up at night.
