Make your vision turn completely BLACK

      Who else can do this?
Say it's nighttime and I'm sitting in my bedroom. Its gotta be at least pretty dark. I can make my vision completely black with my eyes wide open. If i think about it or move my eyes at all it goes away though, its tricky like that. I used to do it when i was little and couldn't fall asleep, but now its a bit harder for me.
I've been thinking about practicing doing it to improve my concentration
      thoughts?
I know some other people can do it

I do it by making my eyes go out of focus.

Works in the same way as this -

Focus on the cross in the center and the purple dots will magically disappear

I've done that before. Only it doesn't have to be a dark room. I've been bored and practiced on unfocusing just out of curiosity. In a bright room everything will look white, and in moderately lit room, well, it will look gray. Basically, things get fuzzier and fuzzier, blend together, until it's a solid color. But I don't suggest doing this a lot I only practiced at it a couple times and I had a hard time getting my vision to return to normal, was still a bit fuzzy for a minute after I stopped.
      well wishes,
      lily

I've done that before, quite a few times. I can do it in the light as well, if I stare at a certain object for long enough, though in the light it doesn't go completely black. I'm pretty sure this doesn't belong in Beyond Dreaming, however, because it's not a paranormal activity.

That dot's not really green. If you try to focus on it you can see there's really no green dot at all.

That's what I told [user-name], he said to the other guy to stare a little longer and all the dots will disappear.

Well, since the green dot technically doesn't exist...

Try following the green dot around the circle with your eyes.

That green color is opposite from the purple color on the color wheel, so it's really only the after image of the purple dots that you're seeing. The purple dots are blinking on and off: While off, we see the after image, which has the appearance of a green dot.

      Hmmm

This illusion is called Lilac chaser, it uses "Negative retinal afterimage" to do its trick.

Read about it on wiki here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lilac_chaser

Try to change the colours with this interactive illusion!
      http://www.michaelbach.de/ot/col_lilacChaser/index.html

This is one of the more interesting illusins with afterimages!

Only one green dot. When purple ones disappear, can't you see a green dot moving in a circle?

      Specialis Sapientia, thanx for links.
