I'm too scared to astral travel

When I get close...I get this sleep paralysis, but I also feel things around me and hear whispers and people talking when no one is there, I feel a drop in my stomach, and feel like I am moving at the same time. It is too scary and I cannot continue. what should I do if I want to astral travel?

Realise that it is all a Dream and not a psychic phenomena... that tends to help.

Just use the words "Wake Initiated Lucid Dream" to define it rather than "Astral Travel" and voilla suddenly it's all fun again (not only that but your definition will be correct this time! )

      Good Luck

on the contrary =p many people find comfort in the belief that what they are experiencing IS a phychic phenomena and that it isn't just all in their head.

a WILD and astral projection are two different things not only depending on the intent of the person but also on how they are achieved i.e actually leaving the body opposed to immersing yourself into HI.

As for advice I have to admit that what your experiencing is also scary for me some of the time. The best way to get over the fear is really only by experiencing it more and realizing you are in no actual danger. of-course your mindset from the start can affect things but I do not think that anyone that is new to AP isn't frightened by the transition phase to out of body. What your experiencing is normal and honestly I do not know anyways to avoid the symptoms of the transition if that is what you are looking for. The best thing to do is just get more accustomed with them. If you have to stop then you have to stop but still your making progress.

Yeah it's a little scary... But you will get used to it, all you have to do is get past that stage and it's gone... I'm speaking from my experience ofcrouse.
