Question I think it would be safe to post this here, too...

If not, just delete it, mods.

Strange experience I had the other day.
I think it was a really creepy dream or something, some people seem to think it was sleep paralysis.

      Here's how the dream went:
First thing I remember is getting up and walking over to my parents' house to use the bathroom (I live next door to them, my house is under construction, so I'm over here a lot). My little sister (who, in actuality, was away visiting friends in Virginia) walked in and I asked her what she was doing home early. She told me that her and the friend she was staying with had just flown back. I asked her how they got home from the airport and she told me "Heather had a car waiting at the airport". I got the impression they were secretly rich and had been keeping things from me and was furious. Then, I tried to attack her. As hard as I tried to hurt her, she just smiled. Then, I realized she didn't look like her normal self, she looked evil. And nothing I did was hurting her, which was making me even angrier, so I left.
I assume I walked back over to my house and went back to bed because the next thing I remember in the dream is "waking up" in my room. All of the sudden, the dream was just extremely clear and real feeling, and I actually thought I was really awake for a minute. I can't remember which came first, hearing the voices or trying to get up, but I absolutely COULD NOT get up. I felt like I was so extremely tired, I couldn't move, couldn't bring myself to roll over or sit up or open my eyes. There were these voices, I can't remember what most of them were saying, but there were a couple lines that stuck out. Something about "because you think you're better than all of us", which was in a male voice.
Now, at first, when the voices started and I thought I was awake, I got pretty scared. I had a "psychotic episode" last summer and thought I was going crazy again. But, when they started, and I tried to get up to leave my house, because I felt like I was in danger and didn't want to be there, and I realized I couldn't move, I remembered I'd had dreams like that before where I felt like I was too tired to move. So I told myself 'Oh, I'm just dreaming. Well, this dream is scary, so I'm going to wake up now'. Continued trying to get up but couldn't. Voices continued, I started to get a little more freaked out. Then, one corner of my room, near the ceiling, started glowing/lighting up and it seemed like the voices were coming from there. I just wanted to wake up and get out of my house, but as hard as I tried, I couldn't. Then a voice said something about "needing energy". And then I remember it sounding like there were children outside my house, playing or something, and I was like 'ok I AM going to get up and see what's going on out there'. And then my room was filled with the scent of meth cooking (I have never been around meth and really have no idea what it smells like, but I hear it's a horrid smell, and when I went crazy I kept thinking I smelled it and the smell in my dream was exactly the same smell). About that time, I remembered something I'd read one time about astral projection, and people having trouble getting their astral body aligned with their physical body when returning, so I thought maybe that's what was happening to me, and began focusing on trying to make sure they lined up. I started with my hand because I could see it near my face (by the way, my vision didn't seem quite normal, it was like I could see around more than should have been possible). One of the last things I heard the voices say as I was doing this was something like "We're very disappointed in you, Auntie Elemental". Or it could have been Aunti Element. One of the two. And it was creepy, whispery, little kid voices that said it. And it really stuck out to me, for some reason. And I felt very guilty. And then, I finally felt like my bodies lined up and tried moving my fingers. I saw and felt them twitch slightly, and then jerked awake and gasped and my heart was pounding.

I could never put into words what that dream felt like, but it was so unlike anything I've ever experienced before, and I will never forget it. Has anyone ever had anything like this happen to them?

I should make a post about when I went crazy last year, some time. It was the weirdest thing I've ever heard of and I still can't make any sense of it or why it happened. Maybe someone here would have some insight.

Man, (woman) that shit used to happen to me all the time. You are not crazy. You had a false awakening. After your false awakening, you dreamt that you had sleep paralysis.

Those nightmare creatures feed off of energy. Fear is a very strong emotion, and we emanate a lot of energy when we are afraid.

The most important thing for you to do is to learn to lucid dream. Do not fear the nightmare creatures. I say, "This is a dream, I feel no fear."

The odd thing to me is that you felt guilty. Do you know what that was about?

I can lucid dream. I used to do it alllll the time, but I haven't been very good at it lately. =/ I'm usually aware that I'm dreaming (I used to ALWAYS know I was dreaming), and can often control them. Lately, though, my dreams have been very fuzzy and if I do gain control, most of the time I can't hold onto it very well. It's extremely frustrating for me since I used to control them so easily and everything was so clear and vivid.. And now I'm lucky if I even remember what I dreamed about. =| Like, today. Can't, for the life of me, remember a single thing that happened when I was sleeping lol. Sigh.

I knew I was dreaming after the voices started and I couldn't move. And I remember thinking to myself 'It's ok, it's just a dream. And this dream sucks so I'm gonna wake up now' lol. But then I COULDN'T wake up. That's the part that freaked me out the most.
I really think.. I was on the astral plane or something. I believe I have come very close to achieving astral projection before, I was able to pull my arms and upper body out, but it was really difficult. Like there's suction. And that's how it felt in my dream. I even thought about trying to pull all the way out but since I didn't feel safe, because of the voices, I just wanted to wake up. And I couldn't, until I made sure my astral and physical body were aligned.

What can you tell me about these "nightmare creatures" you speak of? o_o

And, the guilty thing. I'm not really sure. Before I went to sleep, there was something I was feeling guilty about so I guess that's probably what that was about.

Sounds to me like you woke up into sleep paralysis and remained stuck there for awhile. Everything you experienced during that was just hypnogogic hallucinations. They can be insanely realistic, frightening, tricksy. The more frightened you become during sleep paralysis, the worse the hallucinations are likely to become. The key is to remain calm, realize that nothing can hurt you, its just a dream/hallucinations, and slowly try to wake yourself up. I find that starting small works best...attempting to move a finger, then an arm, then usually I can really wake up. If I just freak out and suddenly try to wake myself up, I end up being stuck even worse.

This probably doesn't belong in BD does it?

      Why not?

But to me I agree, there are lots of shades of gray and overlap about states of mind and experiences like this. On one hand you can say that it was a false awakening and dream paralyisis, on the other hand it sounds like you might not be wrong in identifying it as an astral experience. Either way, the protocol is the same. I often visualize a circle of white light around me and white pentacles in the six directions all around me up and down, and on four sides before I go to sleep because of situations similar to this. It works. Whether or not it is a dream or an astral happening. The smell is interesting, that seems to point to a demonic energy.

I'd like to hear about how you went "crazy". I am very interested in that as I had about six friends who all went crazy in one summer. The summer of that comet Halebop about 12 or 13 years ago.

But the remedy is to empower yourself and get in touch with your inner power and divinity. That means that if it is just a wierd dream, to know that you are the dreamer and nothing has power over you. Or if it is an Astral experience that you are more powerful and have more light than any demonic creature if you relax into it with confidence.

okay, I'm just going to say what works for me. I'm really not wanting to turn this into a religious discussion, but it is directly tied to how I deal with demonic interference in dreams, in fact I had to do it last night, and it was harder than usual to do for some reason...like the demon was stronger than the usual ones in my dreams. I simply rebuke them, plead the blood of Jesus on them and comand them to leave. Tell them that I am a child of God, covered by the blood of Christ and they have no power over me. Sometimes I have to do it longer than others or say more things along those lines, get louder, more forceful, etc...but it always works! I really believe that when you feel that overwhelming fear, that is when you know that you have some demonic interference in your dream. The key here, is that if you aren't a believer (saved), this method probably won't work for you, sorry

As for the sparkly spot on the cieling...I get that a lot!! When I first wake, it's like I'm looking at a body of water that is dark and sparkly, and it slowly shrinks to an irregular shape on the cieling. If I'm not completely awake, it almost like it feels like something's observing me/my dreams from that location...or something's coming out of or in to that point...and it will linger for quite a while. If I wake suddenly and see the shimmering lake on the cieling...it freaks me out for a minute and it's gone suddenly. I don't really know what it is...a true physical manifestation of something from the spiritual realm, or a hallucination...but since you've seen it too, it's got me wondering
The Lord bless you and keep you, the Lord make His face shine upon you, the Lord lift up His countenance upon you, and be gracious and give you peace.

Stab them in the face with an axe. haha. Man, I think I am going to axe in dreams more.

Um, I am not going to go into too much demonology, because I don't want us to focus on that to much. You can battle them on the dream plane. How? Magic, empowerments, allies. Practice fighting in your lucid dreams, and it will help you to battle these creatures when you encounter them.

I think right now, you just need to focus on asking for protection. Do a ritual every night before you go to sleep. You can follow an ancient one, or create your own. I suggest burning sage in your room. Ask the angels to protect you.

Anything that Dannon Oneironaut suggests is awesome. I have learned the concept of using mirrors and giving empowerments from him. I am going to do the pentacles myself. Thanks, man!

I would like to add the Merkabah to this expanding menagerie of sacred geometry. Meditate and create the merkabah, and then go inside it. There is a thread on the merkabah, and also on sacred geometry.

Well then you will be happy to know that you two arent the only ones who see that. I have had about 4 "attacks" of sleep paralysis. they were attacks then because i knew nothing about it, i thought it was something paranormal that was paralyzing me. Eventually i learned to understand the noise and i dont fear it anymore, because for me, it is the same high pitched frequency type noise that i seem to hear when trying to lucid dream, you know the beginning.

But anyway on the second "attack" or it might have been the first, but i was laying on my back, this is the only time it would happen to me is if i was laying on my back, and i woke up, couldnt move, loud noise, but i could see the ceiling, and on this ceiling was a big black blob. this blob seemed to ease on off towards the wall and its like it just dissapeared. It is unexplainab;e to me because this wasnt a room that is possible of headlights or anything coming in through the window. the only source of light in this room was the light on the stereo and computer, and lights dont make dark shadows im pretty sure.
