Anyone ever try to LD up a stranger in their dream?

I had this crazy idea last night while lying in bed, thinking of things to do in a lucid dream. Now, I'm very skeptic about everything but I also try not to shrug anything off as impossible. I only half believe in this theory I have but I figure it would be interesting to try it out anyways and I would like to see if anyone else has ever thought or tried this before.

As anyone's probably noticed already, our dreams sometimes take place in familiar surroundings and at other times in very unfamiliar ones. Both sets are however often filled with unfamiliar faces. These strangers look just as realistic as anyone else. The same thing goes for unfamiliar locations, they are often just as realistic as any real place you might go back to in your dreams. What's more, at least in my case, is that many of these unknown locations and people are revisited many times. I know the most likely explanation is that the human brain sees no difference in recreating places and people than it has creating new ones from scratch but what if, just what if, in our dream state we either participate in someone else's dream or someone else participates in ours.

Here is where my crazy idea comes in ; What if after becoming lucid, we were to go up to one of these strangers and try to get them to LD up? Like "Hey you, this is a dream". What would happen beyond this is pure speculation. Of course if they are a figment of the imagination, our subconscious could very well make them react in any number of real ways. One way to verify the authenticity of the being in front of us would be to ask them their name and phone number, email or even reffering them to this site. The problem with the latter is that a non LD regular would most likely not be able to retain much clear information in the transition from the dream to the real world, let alone recall the dream. This also brings us to another possibility, that the person (most likely not a regular LDer) would dissapear in front of us as a result of him/her waking up. Wheter this could then be attributed to our subconscious mind thinking this would happen or the person actually waking up because he/she realised he/she was dreaming is a question difficult to answer.

In any case, this is something I will try in my next lucid dream. I don't really expect anything of it but it will be interesting to see what my subconscious comes up with when I do and perhaps will I even come in contact with a real person (if not, that would be one freaky phone call though "hello, are you the person I met in this dream we had" )

I've tried to do that a few times with mixed results. Once I saw my dad in a dream and I went over to tell him that nothing was real. He started freaking out and giving me a really strange blank look. It was kinda freaky. Haven't done it since.

I have tried this many times. I did get a name once, but that was it.

Now there was this one time over a year ago...

It was one of my first lucid dreams. I had decided I would try to summon someone into my dream. Now there are some people that believe you can summon evil forces into dreams. After summoning this person, I asked who he was. I also asked his email address and gave me mine. He gave me a single first name I don't remember. He would not tell me anything else and kept on ignoring me as I followed him. Eventually I looked him right in the eyes. I noticed his eyes were completely black, which I thought was strange. After that, he attacked me. I fought him only for a few seconds when I began to wake up.

Quite often, I will go up to a dream character and tell them this is a dream. They never talk to me, just look at me. In fact, I almost never talk to dream characters.
Still trying to decide on a sig.

you know, i had a dream once, at a very young age, and i remember it very well.
i know it sounds stupid but, hey, its a DREAM right??

"(1st perspective view) i went to the toilet in my, and suddenly this whole chamber went spinning, so i went out, and it looked as if i stepped out in a very
dark alleyway, so i talk to some guy, and i just knew that this was "the were wolf world" ( -_- )", so i talk to this guy in black, and suddenly all those people around there went crazy, something like wild or something. (changes to 3rd perspective view) then i run throught a toy shop where a POLICE OFFICER is standing, so i run up to this guy and i ask: "is this a dream?" on wich he answeres: "how should i knowm ITS YOUR DREAM." i run further. (changes to 1st perspective view) and i go back to "real world" and i wake up.........

I have done this a couple times... I've asked my parents before how it felt to be living in my dream. Their reply was something along the lines of "can't complain much" or something like that... The I asked my brother the same thing (while he was lying on the couch) and he lifted up and shot at me feet first, and just started kicking and kicking the crap out of me. I asked him another time in a dream too, and he came after me again like he wanted to kill me.

I've also done this several times and gotten various responses - many times violent responses from dream characters. This usually happens when I notice that I'm being "observed" or watched by these characters and then I begin to wonder why and find myself becoming suspicious that these characters are more than imaginary figments. Often, even the people who I recognize (family, friends, etc.) in LDS will become angry or violent or at least react in a surprised manner, then proceed to morph into another person or form (revealing their true nature?... ). Other times, charcters seem to walk about aimlessly and their responses make no sense.

I've had dream characters that 'crashed' and stood there empty-headed and frozen.
I've had dream characters that told me that they knew, and looked sad
I've had dream characters that explained that they are actually special and external to my mind
Funny enough, I don't remember having dream characters freak out

Yes, I have a few times, but what is the fun in that when my niece & I can be in the same dream? I think that that'll do just fine!

When I first started LDing I felt that dream characters might be something other than just my imagination, so the dream characters would sometimes act more aloof when I told them that I was dreaming. One time I talked with a woman who actually claimed to be more significant than the other characters in my dream.
But after dozens of LD's and many times experimenting with dream characters, I have personally come to the rather dissapointing conclusion that dream characters are nothing more than an exclusive creation of the subconscious. Now, with this mind-set, if I tell dream characters that I am dreaming or that "I am from the real world" they just don't seem to sit well with my statement, but they won't deny it. I've had a group of dream characters of which I was pleasently conversing get up and leave the room when I told them that I was dreaming, they were upset.

It just seems to me like if I "keep the secret" that I know I'm dreaming, things will progress more smoothely. It's almost as though they have dignity which they want to remain intact.

None of my dream characters have ever denied my claims either, but often their "reactions" lend even more to my curiosity/suspicions of them being "outside agents" or persons outside of my imagination. Though I do believe that dreams can be "infiltrated" or that one might "receive" outside influences, I also believe the subconscious is VERY powerful in terms of being able to create multi-dimensional/muti-facted characters that may only APPEAR or SEEM to be unfamiliar (but in actuality are creations/manifestations of the subconscious). - Kinda scary actually, if you think about the fragility of our minds and the ease by which one can be self-deceived or deceived...

      weird

Weird dream i had last night i summond a girl from waking life (that iv only seen a few times) but while visualizing her in my dream i couldnt remember the face, so after fading in and out of my dream a few times trying to remember the face i decided to just summon the rest of her and maybe when i see her the face will be intact unfortunatle later when i finally saw her i could only see her back and her hair, so i walked up to her and walked in a circle around her but as i walked her whole body turned with me so i could only see her back so i decided that i would run around her really fast and see her face, but when i tried this i ran super fast and right as i was begging to see her face she suddenly turned into some other girl with different hair color and different clothes

I had this experience a few days ago.

I was trying to escape from an attack with 2 other females - both probably about my same age. At some point I looked at my hands and RC'd. I became lucid. I looked at one of the women and said 'hey, this is a dream. do you want to be lucid?' She said 'Hey, youre right. yeah I am now.' and so we were both lucid. we located the 3rd woman and mentioned our lucidity, inviting her to be lucid also and she was easily lucid with just a 'yeah im lucid now'. I was leading the 3 of us and Im not sure what they were doing as they were behind me - I was focused on making the enemies in front of us stop being enemies and start being allies, which took several attempts but finally worked.

Anyway, not long after this I woke up. I did manage to go back into the dream in an ever lesser level of lucidity - but the women were not there....

They were complete strangers - no idea if I would ever encounter them again. Doubt it.
