I can not tell you if it is possible or not, but to me it sounds like a strange dream if anything xD
I will put this on my lucid dream checklist, to see if I can have the same effect.
If this is truly viewing an alternate reality, I would check to see if you can do it again! (I know this entry is a bit old)

Congrats. I've definitely noticed, our dreams get off on humiliating us with awkward situations - like hosting parties with bitter rivals.
