    1. Finger Induced Lucid Dream (FILD)

      FILD (Finger Induced Lucid Dream)

      Short Version:

      Simplified Directions:

      The Setup:
      1. Go to sleep. It's that simple.. No hypnosis or visualization required.
      2. To perform this technique, you have to be extremely close to falling asleep. The best time is either in the middle of the night, or in the morning. However, using this technique in the morning can often cause shorter LDs.
      3. If you want to try FILD during the night, you have to find some way to wake up. There are various methods.. Find one that works for you.
      4. Once you wake up, the first thing that should be on your mind is the FILD technique. Immediately relax, and try to go back to sleep how you normally would. The goal here is to get to the point just before you fall back to sleep. Once you've reached this point, begin the FILD technique. If you fall back to sleep, don't worry... you can try again when you wake up.

      The Technique:
      1. Imagine for a second that you are playing a piano using your index and middle finger with one hand. Your fingers are side by side on two keys. Now, press your right finger down, leaving your left finger up. Next, press your left finger down, and lift your right finger back up. Repeat this up and down motion.
      2. So you have the motion down? Try this: Imagine you are playing the piano again (using the same motion), but this time, press the keys so lightly that they don't go down. Give it a try on your computer keyboard - you should basically feel your muscles contract, but your fingers should hardly move.
      3. You're almost there. All you have to do is use this finger movement when you wake up. Once you reach step 4 on the setup process, start moving your fingers. Focus on the movement. By directing your focus, you will fall asleep within seconds. Do not count your finger movements or talk to yourself in your head. Also, do not try to make yourself go to sleep.. that will only wake you up. That's it!
      4. Once about 10 to 20 seconds have passed, take your other hand, and perform a nose RC. Simply pinch your nose and try to breath in. If you can, you're dreaming!
      5. If you find that the RC doesn't work, don't worry.. you can try again. Just go to sleep normally, and try again when you wake up.


      Original Directions from LD4ALL:

      1. Go to sleep:
      - You want to do this tech when you are the most tired. For some people, it's 3 hours after you have gone to sleep, for others, 5, or you can do it in the morning (harder)
      - might help to tell your self to wake up after your dreams (Like in the MILD tech.).. haven’t tried this yet
      - Try playing very soft music in the background when you go to sleep if you want to wake up during the REM state. Make sure it's very very soft, and has no beat/voice in it.

      2. This is the hardest part of the technique. You need to get into a state where you are very tired, and feel like you could easily fall asleep. To achive this, you either have to wake up from a dream during the night, set an alarm clock for the time where you will be the most tired, or use the dream period in the morning.

      2a. (Unreliable, but easy if you wake up) If you find that you have just woken up from a dream in the middle of the night or you set your alarm to wake you up, you should already feel very tired. Continue to step 3. (if not, just go back to sleep. You could try to relax, but I dont think it would work too well.)

      2b. (most reliable) If you have set an alarm clock for 3, 5 or however many hours works best for you, you should wake up in a tired state. Try relaxing, and when you feel like your very close to sleep, contine to step 3. However, if you have woken up, and dont feel tired at all, I would go back to sleep.

      2c. (hard and unreliable) If you have woken up in the morning, you might not feel very tired. (You might be relaxed, but you would find it hard to start sleeping agian.) To get into this "tired" state, you should go back to sleep. In about 30 mins (or more), you will wake up again. When you wake up this time (try not to move or open your eyes), try to relax as much as possible and see how tired you feel. (Be carefull you dont fall back to sleep) If you feel very tired, continue to step 3. Otherwise, go back to sleep, and try again when you wake up.

      3. Relax. Once you think you are about to fall asleep again (You should already feel like this when you wake), you need to start moving part of your body, It should just be a very small movement, and it needs to be repetitive. I recommend using your fingers.
      - What I do is this: Right now, imagine you are playing a piano with 2 fingers: your pointer and middle finger. Push one key down, lift it back up and at the same time, press the other finger down. Just keep going back and forth between the fingers. I have my hand under my pillow when i did this, but Im sure it would work anywhere. Just make sure the movement is very small, and takes very little energy to perform it. (I was just doing this on my right hand)
      - Another Note: When you are moving you fingers, don’t try to visualize anything, just think to you self that you will do this for 10-30 secs, and then check to see if it's a dream.
      - Also, do not tell your self all the actions you are going to do, and do not "count" while you do this tech... Just say to your self, you will do a RC in 10-30 secs, and then just lay there, moving you fingers.
      - Try to focus on the movement, and just try to relax.
      - Do not focus on trying to fall asleep (it will keep you awake). Keep focus on your fingers, do not let your mind wander.

      4. Once you start the motion, try to relax (as much as you can, but don’t force it. Dont "try" to fall asleep) and wait about 10-30 seconds (keep your fingers moving). During this short time, tell your self that you will wait about 10-30 secs, and then you will check to see if you are in a dream. (Don’t count in your head) Once the 10-20 secs have passed, do a nose RC (Where you pinch your nose closed, and try to breath in.. If you can, you are in a dream). If the RC fails, just try to go to sleep normally for a few mins (no motion or RCs), and try the tech one more time. If it fails again, go to sleep, and try again later that morning. If it works it should only take 10-30 secs. Do not lay there doing a RC every 30 secs over and over, it will just wake you up even more.
      - The first time I did this, I thought that It wasn’t going to work. After the 10-30 secs, I still was sure that I was still trying to fall asleep, with my fingers moving. However, when I did a RC, I realized it was a dream. I thought to my self "wow, I’m in a LD, I guess it does work"
      - On 7-4-04, I found that whenever I started to dream, I had a tingly sensation all over my body.

      5. If the nose RC works, try to get out of bed...
      - I found that in the morning, when I tried to get out of bed in the dream, I would wake up immediately when I tried to move. If this happens to you, you should try this: once you realize that you are dreaming from the nose RC, keep your eyes closed, and keep pinching your nose. Continue to breath through your nose. Wait about 10-30 secs, and then try to visualize your room in your head (like your looking at it thru your closed eyes). The image should slowly come to you, and once it has, get out of bed, and you shouldn’t wake up from the movement.


      NOTE: When this works successfully, the real world (where you were moving you fingers) will be transitioned into the dream world (You will dream that you are still moving your fingers, and trying to relax).

      Some people are telling me that they are trying to move their fingers, and then do a RC every 30 secs.. That's not what you should do. If the 1st RC fails, stop the finger movement, and RCs, and try to relax for a few mins, then, try the tech once more. If it fails again, go to sleep, and try again later that morning. Hope that helps

      Things to try: Instead of waiting only 10-30 secs, see what happens if you wait more like 1-5 mins. (When I discovered this tech. I kept waking up from what I thought was the real world, and realizing that it was entirely a dream.. So I tried again, and told my self to wait a few secs, and then do a RC.. and it worked). I think that it is either going to work, or it's not going to work, do not lay there for 20 mins moving your fingers. If it doesn’t work, go back to sleep, or try relaxing for another few mins.

    2. Revolving TV

      The dream takes place in an apartment with some old Mount Carmel people like Jippy, Lauren M., Melissa M., etc. Additionally grandma Phelps is randomly there sitting on the same couch as me. She asks me a question but I kind of ignore it and feel really uncomfortable in general at this party. I don't really know anyone there well but decide to wait a little while to leave. One cool thing that happens is that they have a TV that revolves in the wall around with a hidden side for storing jewelry. Eventually I don't want to be there anymore and so I look for a way out. I see an elevator in the apartment and it is made out of glass. There are about 6 Chinese people in the elevator and they are all masturbating which makes me think this is a lucid dream. I perform a finger into hand reality check but it doesn't seem to work. Despite this, I know that I am lucid. I just cannot seem to gain full lucidity. I decide to take the elevator a floor up and explore around. I walk into an office of people where I don't belong and make the whole office not react by using my expectations. I walk around and then leave feeling annoyed that I know I'm lucid but cannot get the reality check to work.

    3. Warhammer Store

      In the dream I am at a really cool warhammer store with Michi and Sammy. We walk around and see that they have set up several stations for battling other Warhammers around the store and we go around to each station taking the Warhammers we battled after we win. We got around the whole store like this and have a box of a lot of Warhammers and I grab a couple other supplies as well. Finally at the end of the store we ask if we can take them all home but they say we need a subscription in order to do all the battles in the store and end up giving everything back. Michi tries to pay for everything with 200 dollars but it only costs 4 dollars since I want one small thing.

    4. Football Ride

      The dream takes place in Vaughn's car with his dad driving us to a football game. They pick me up at my house and my dad wants to know the details of my game so he texts me 12 times asking about it. Interestingly it is an 8 PM game but we have practice before the game at 6. In order to find out when the game is I look online at a pop-warner site even though it is a high school game.

    5. Beer for Grandpa

      The dream takes place at grandma Gourley's house for a family reunion or something. We are all upstairs at a table in grandpa's room at one point and Jonathon asks if I can grab him a beer. Grandpa then asks me if I can grab him a beer too but a light beer instead so that he can chug it. I search around in the kitchen for a light beer but then Jonathon comes down and grabs one himself. I notice grandma is downstairs as well making little bags of banana bread.

    6. Illuminated Waterfall

      The dream takes place in a jungle like scene where Dave B. is hiking with me up a river to a waterfall. We go up many steps filled with water and finally at the top reach the waterfalls which are illuminated with many different colored lights. There is also a bridge leading to the waterfall and a restaurant or something on top. Dave tells me that you can get there by car and that I should bring Michi. After we decide to head back and Niki and dad are with us. After we descend the steps we enter an underwater cave where we have to hold our breath and swim through different parts to get out. My dad leads and Niki swims behind me but runs out of breath at the last part so I have to go save her.

    7. Obi Wan Adventure

      The dream takes place once again in third person where I am watching Obi Wan escape from something. He is running away while at the same time using his lightsaber to deflect shots from drones and using some badass moves to kill the drones. He also is doing some crazy moves like running up walls and using the force to get his lightsaber back if he loses it in the action. The dream then at some point transforms into me as the jedi still running away from some people. I use the lightsaber to kill many more drones and at some point meet up with some friends who also are running away from whoever these bad guys are. We take a staircase up what seems to be a parking garage and jump from one level to another until we finally find a way out. We are then in a desert like star wars environment with our enemies trailing behind us. We find a large block with some cover and jump up to start shooting at the bad guys. I find a ton of guns near our cover and start giving them to my friends who begin shooting. Suddenly we notice that the guns are air soft guns but seem to be fairly effective.

    8. Family Vacation Town

      The dream is about a family trip to the movies where some guy tries to give me a new red phoenix jersey in the bathroom but then had to sign up for it. I sit down and start filling out the paperwork for the jersey but my dad said we have to go because the film was starting. Interestingly, the dream takes place in a town that is very familiar in my dreams. I am sure I have been there before and the location is some type of vacation town with several old western like saloon places. Also located near that town there is a sunsplash that I have had a recurring dream of in the past.

    9. Basketball Road Trip

      Dream about playing basketball again for coach Bryant and coach Atkinson. Rocky was on the team and dad came to watch. We were playing a shitty team but I only played first five mins then he took me about despite playing well. In some wierd court in like a ring below. My dad left at halftime because he couldn't stand the game and encouraged me to do the same. Then at half we started traveling to another game and had to apparently rode a train to get there. I had to pee and finally found a place where I peed for like 5 mins long. Then dream then transformed into something weirder. I was traveling around the whole dream setting in a mini train and the dream setting had different aisles of food which I sometimes grabbed. Hannes was also there.

    10. Grandma's House Discussion

      Dream that I had to break up with Michi because she cheated on me with some random guy four times in an Ikea bed. Then we started talking about it at grandma G's house where a family party was taking place. We started inside but it was too loud so we moved outside near the lake when I started hearing aunt Stacy and my sister arguing over whose family makes more money. I took it really personally then yelled at them but they said they were only joking and looked really offended so I told them I'm just heated because of the breakup.

    11. Mount Carmel Reunion

      The dream takes place at the 15th Street house as some sort of reunion for all of the Mount Carmel classmates I had. John, Luke B, Jippy, and Lawrence are there and everyone is drinking and having a good time. We decide to all take an aerial picture of the class using a drone as a big group. Suddenly Jippy starts throwing punches at John C. John tackles him and lands some big punches essentially knocking him out. Then Luke. starts to attack Lawrence and even says he is on drugs. Lawrence beats him up pretty good and I then break up the fight. Luke tries to attack me but I tell him I don't want to fight and we shake hands. After the fight some girl comes up to me and says she is Luke's drug dealer and needs compensation for the fight. She also knows my sister and decides to call her to ask if she can get a blue something at a weird apartment with the same address as the 15th Street house. I call my sister to no avail and my mom picks me up from the party. We head to that apartment and on the way see Luke with his brother speaking fluent Spanish walking to the left of us. Several cop cars drive around us and we take a right. As we near the apartment, Luke comes at the car with a bat trying the break the windshield. My mom has her left window down so I tell her to roll it up and that she needs to run him over when he tries again. She does but almost rolls into the opposite lane with oncoming traffic. She gets ready to try again when I see Lawrence approaching Luke. Interestingly the road we are driving is closed off. I then wake up.

    12. Police Break-Out

      The interesting thing about this dream is that I watch the whole thing from an outside perspective. The dream is about a policeman on the run from other because he helps break an innocent woman out of jail. Inside of the jail there is a ton of money and the policeman calls the governement to ask if it is okay to break out of jail. When the government says no, the two break out anyway and attempt to drive away in a black SUV. Inside the SUV there is a police radio that alerts them to the fact that the police are looking for them. All of a sudden a cop car is behind the SUV casually following. They decide to park the SUV and get out walking casually away but are then noticed by some other policemen and taken into custody.

    13. Back to Rosewood

      Me and Baskin for whatever reason decide to move back into Barrett Rosewood. At the sign-in, I realize that we need two people to secure the room but unfortunately Baskin is gone. All of sudden I find Carson and ask if wants to be our third roomate. He agrees and we tell him he can pick the fourth.

    14. Server Nightmare / Magic show

      I am working at a restaurant as a server with a two top. I then get sat with a 12 top and greet them. They start off with a lot of alcohol and then begin to order food. They take forever to order and every single person gets 5 modifications on there food. This continues in for a long time and I get super stressed because I haven't even put their drinks in and my two top has been waiting forever. I run to my two top and Nadia says it's okay but I started crying for some reason.
      Before that dream I am doing a professional magic show. I have a huge audience at a venue and my grandpa is there. I feel pretty confident with my magic tricks and then I take a break. Baskin is up next but nobody really laughs at his jokes at first. Finally they warm up a bit and I go back on. At the end of the show grandpa tips me 4000 dollars on his 2000 dollar show which was super cool.

    15. Kitchen Presentation

      I am in Germany working at a restaurant kitchen where they have a guest speaker. She is a super cute girl with an Australian accent and after I do most of my work I talk to her about living in Germany and how it's hard to speak English after so much German time. I accidentally spill water on her notes and I hoped that she wouldn't notice. I wish her good luck and then start leaving the restaurant which then turns into a target type store.
