Lucid Dreams
I have read about lucid dreams before, and tried to lucid dream, but every time I realize I'm dreaming I wake up. Last night before I went to sleep my friend was telling me about the lucid dream he had had the night before, and talked about focusing on the horizon when you think you're waking up. I went to bed thinking about lucid dreaming, but not really trying to. I was sleeping in my bed at college, but in my dream I was in bed at home. In the dream, I was going back and fourth from a "dream" and being in my bed at home. I thought about focusing on the horizon, like Joel told me but I thought it would wake me up. I was for a short time in nothingness, complete blackness, and everything was rumbling. It was at this point that I decided to attempt to focus on the horizon, so I sat up in bed, still in my dream, and pulled my blinds apart so I could focus on the horizon. It worked. I looked down out of my window and saw my dog. Then a 15-20 ft tall wolf came around the corner. I was lucid dreaming so I thought, now my dog is that big, and then she was. Then I thought, now the wolf is regular sized and a puppy, then it was. I tried to think of what I should do next when I heard faint shouts having to do with "night terror". At this point I began to hear my self screaming in real life, and realized that I couldn't wake up and couldn't move. I saw a flash of my friend Devon's face asking me something, then I woke up in a dark quiet room with no one around but my roommates who were asleep. Parts of that dream were terrifying, but I'm excited to explore lucid dreaming more.
