Only one dream fragment that I can remember, and not a very detailed or interesting one… I’m in a school cafeteria––some weird mixture of my middle & high school cafeterias. I’m sitting at a table with some of my friends. At least, I remember Abby and Christopher (two of my best friends) being there, and some other random people. Christopher has an iPod with him, and Abby and I steal it (or, you know, just take it away from him temporarily––not like we’re taking it from him forever). We start messing with it and making some weird playlist. His iPod has some weird feature where you can like, make a playlist within a playlist. So, our playlist actually has like four parts or something. It’s pretty neat. (I guess it would be kind of pointless, but it would be cool if it actually existed seeing as I tend to make such long playlists... Haha.)
I’m on a boat with my family. The inside of the boat is full of water, and we’re all just floating around in it. But then, I guess the water drains out because suddenly it’s all gone. I’m talking to my sisters, when suddenly I remember that I might have forgotten to pack my laptop. Part of me doesn’t care that much because apparently we’re going to be somewhere that doesn’t have any Internet access anyway, but I still wanted my laptop around so that I could write on it and stuff. So, I go to double-check my luggage. There are some plastic bags lying around and I start looking through them, but they’re all just full of shoes. Finally, I find my backpack, but it looks like I didn’t pack anything very useful. Apparently I only packed a few items of clothing and then a bunch of Beanie Babies. And I stuffed everything into the front pocket instead of packing it in the main part of the backpack. So, I stand up again. And right then I become lucid for like two seconds. It just randomly occurs to me that I’m dreaming, and I run out onto the deck of the boat saying, “I’m lucid! I’m lucid!” I decide I’m going to jump off the boat and into the water. So, I do that. But, as soon as I do, I just find myself back on the boat again and I’m no longer lucid. Oh well. When I’m back on the boat, I see that my dad is standing at a stove and cooking something. When I get closer, I see he’s frying a bunch of snails in a pan. And they’re not normal snails, either … They’re like, super gigantic snails that are probably like six inches long. My mom is standing nearby and starts complaining about how disgusting it is and how my dad will just have to eat those by himself. At that point, I start walking up some stairs, because apparently the boat has two floors. On the second floor, there are a few rooms that look like bedrooms, and one room that looks like a kitchen. For some reason, I’m convinced that my friend Hannah lives on the second floor of the boat. There are a ton of cats on the second floor. I don’t remember all of them, but … There’s this one, huge fat grey and white cat that’s just sitting around. There are a couple of small, grey kittens. And then there’s this really exotic-looking cat who has a black head, but the rest of her body is orange (possibly with some white … I don’t remember very clearly). She has abnormally large ears. And when she blinks, her face kind of like, folds in on itself so you can’t see it. It’s weird. But anyway, I really like this cat and start petting her. Just then, Hannah’s mom comes up the stairs, and I feel guilty because apparently the cat is hers, and it was in her bedroom. But she doesn’t seem to care I’m there. Suddenly, all of my family comes upstairs and they’re all wandering around. I start playing with one of the kittens, and I try to pick him up, but he scratches my finger. I look down and see that my index finger is bleeding. I walk over to the exotic-looking cat and let her lick the cut. My mom is watching and she’s like, “Awwwww.” We’re now standing in the kitchen on the second floor, and everyone is pouring cereal into plastic bags and then … layering the plastic bags on top of each other. It’s sort of hard to describe. But anyway. Apparently the whole time, we were taking the boat to a family reunion of some sort. It’s at some theme park––I guess kind of like Disney World? Anyway, I end up waiting around for this Cinderella-themed ride. It’s this huge white and gold boat that just like, flies up into the sky and swings around. So, the boat comes down out of the sky, and two ladies dressed as the evil stepsisters get off it, complaining that the ride has no seatbelts. So I’m like, “Oh boy.” Just then, two of my sisters show up and we all get on the ride. Sure enough, there are no seatbelts. There are just a bunch of benches running across the boat. There’s this random Asian guy sitting at one end of the boat dressed as Prince Charming and he’s like, “HELLOOO.” And we’re all like, “… Hi.” The boat flies up into the sky and starts swinging back and forth. And we’re all pretty much just sliding around like crazy. And I’m afraid I might fall off, except there are a bunch of these wire fence-type things around the sides of the boat, so I figure I’ll be okay. Even though only my sisters and I got on the boat to begin with, there are suddenly a lot of other people on the ride as well. The ride keeps going upside down, and when it does, we all just have to sort of hook our feet under the benches and hang there. Then there’s some point where the benches detach from the inside of the boat––and we all have to hold on to a bench as it shoots off into the sky. And when that happens, everyone has a ray of magical color streaming out behind them, and it forms a rainbow. After that part, there’s this other part where each person gets filmed individually while they dance around holding a fake gun. Apparently there’s going to be some event where we all pretend to shoot each other, for some reason. I stand in front of a computer, watching the people who have been filmed so far. Everyone has to dance against some weird, purple background. Anyway, I wander off and then my mom and I start talking to some old guy who is apparently related to me. He talks about how he loves that ride that I just went on, and how his favorite part is the shooting part, because it reminds him of when he fought in some war. Then he starts talking about the war and about how horrific it was. And he talks about how he had this wound in his leg, which he claims looked like a gaping mouth with razor-sharp teeth or something. And I’m like, “… What.” I start thinking about how horrible it would be to be in a war. And suddenly I’m afraid I’m going to get drafted into a war or something, and I’m going to die. Then one of my younger siblings comes up to me––I think Annabelle––and she wants me to come with her, to find some fireworks that are apparently going on. So, I go with her to look for them. For some reason, she thinks they’re in this nearby dark room. But nothing is going on in there, and there are people in there sleeping in sleeping bags. So we leave. And I think that’s all.
DREAM #1 I’m on vacation somewhere with my family. We’re staying in this big, old house. I explore around the house, and I keep finding weird secret passages that lead outside. Later on, I check my computer and I find out that the second season of “The Legend of Korra” is going to start the next day. Then I guess it’s the next day, because I go to find a TV. When I find one, there are a bunch of other kids there. I guess they’re like my Korra-watching club from my college, but I don’t really take a close look at their faces. I guess the TV doesn’t work or something, because we don’t actually end up watching anything. I wander off to go see this performance that apparently is somehow related to “The Legend of Korra” … The performance is outside, and people just sit on random benches around the performers and watch. I can’t find a bench to sit on, so I just randomly walk around. Anyway, the play turns out to be like, the Ember Island Players basically. So, it’s really bad. There’s one girl in the play who just wanders off to the side and starts laughing because she realizes the play is really bad. And then her father, who is also in the play, starts yelling at her for ruining everything. But, then the play just continues. There’s a large group of people sitting on one bench, but then they all get up and leave. So I’m like, “Oh goody! A free bench!” So I rush over to it. But then I feel guilty about stealing the bench in case those people come back, so I just sit on the arm of the bench or something so I’m not really taking it. Some other girl comes over and sits down on the bench. And she and some other girl argue about who gets to sit on the bench … But, I’m not really paying attention. I also just stop paying attention to the play and start reading some book that I have with me. The book has a lot of illustrations … or maybe it’s a graphic novel or manga or something. I don’t recall what was in it, really. Eventually I leave and go back to my room in the house, and check my computer again and go on Tumblr. I see that people are posting all these clips from the new “Korra” episode. And I’m like, “AAH SPOILERS.” There appear to be like … pirates in it, or something. I decide I’m going to look up the episode later. My sisters tell me that we’re all going bowling at some apparently awesome bowling alley. But, the dream ends before we actually go there. Too bad. DREAM #2 … Or this could be a part of the same dream? I’m not entirely sure. I’m at home. And, my parents decide I’m going to go back to college right away, even though I haven’t packed or anything yet. So, I try to start packing but I can’t find everything I need. So I’m just like, shoving random things in the car. I find some books that I’m going to pack … and then some weird thing happens, like I have a memory within the dream of buying those books. It was at some small bookstore, and I remember picking out books, and then shoving ones I didn’t want under a table or something, and feeling guilty about it … I don’t really know. Anyway, so there’s this closet where I’ve been storing a lot of my dorm room stuff over the summer (in real life), so in the dream I go looking for it. But I find that someone has moved a big dresser in front of it or something, so I can’t get it open. I start kind of panicking and realizing I don’t have time to pack everything. I go outside where my parents are waiting for me. Except, my mom looks like one of my great aunts and not like my mom, which is weird. But anyway, I start explaining to them that I don’t have time to pack everything, and that if I went now I’d just be alone on campus for like a week anyway. At first, they don’t seem to care. But then they finally say I don’t have to go back yet. But they still want to drive to campus just to look at the pretty autumn scenery or whatever.
I only remember two short, not very detailed dreams from last night. Blah. DREAM #1: I’m in a train station. I think I’m trying to figure out what train I’m supposed to be on but I can’t figure it out. Or I miss the train. Something along those lines. This isn’t the first time I’ve had a dream about missing a train, being on the wrong train, etc. DREAM #2: I’m at a grocery store, and I’m trying to buy my groceries. I’m trying to use my debit card to pay for my groceries, but I find out I don’t have enough money on it. I have a separate ATM card for my savings account, and for some reason I think I can use that to pay, but I can’t. I feel disappointed and realize I’ll have to put back all the groceries I was going to buy.
Two dreams from last night ... Both of them pretty long, neither of them lucid. But they were pretty memorable and detailed, at least. DREAM #1 Time: 1:05 I'm with my family. We're staying at a huge house in Cape Cod with really large windows. In part of the dream I have to sleep somewhere weird like on a chair in the kitchen. I wake up there and think it's the middle of the night, but then my mom is in the kitchen and tells me it's 7 AM. Everyone else in the family is in the living room, which is joined with the kitchen, watching TV. Then there's a huge lightning storm outside. I stand next to Milo (my little brother), and we watch the storm. We can see the ocean from our house, and it's getting closer and closer. Waves start coming in under the door, and Milo starts screaming and freaking out. I keep yelling at him to calm down, but then I'm secretly worried that the house is going to collapse. So we all run around the house for a while, admiring all the beautiful lightning outside, and stuff. After the storm is over, my mom is telling us about how there's going to be a photography competition for people who took pictures during the storm. My sisters and I plan to go to the awards ceremony for this contest, because apparently there are going to be cute teenage boy photographers there or something. I'm sitting on top of a large bouncy ball during this conversation. The ball has a map of the world on it, drawn in blue and white. My dad walks in and hands me a really beat-up envelope with green Crayon drawings on it that I assume were drawn by Teddy (my other little brother). Inside is a letter telling me I got into Ithaca College. For some reason everyone in my family seems to find it hilarious. It's either because the letter is old or because it got sent really late, after I've already been through a year of college. Don't know. Anyway, I feel disappointed because I thought the letter would be something more important. Side note: my sister woke me up from this dream asking if I was okay...apparently I was moving around a lot during the last 30 seconds of the dream or so, and she thought something was wrong with me. Ah haha. DREAM #2 Time: ~7:30 I return to Hampshire (where I go to college). When I get there, none of my friends are living in the same hallway as me like they’re supposed to. So, everyone else is a complete stranger. I go into one girl’s room. I sit on her bed with her. She has really curly brown hair. She asks me what I’ve been doing lately, and I tell her I’ve been doing a lot of writing and drawing. No one else in our hallway is there, because apparently they’re all on “Project Runway” and are off designing clothes all day, and don’t come home until late at night. The curly-haired girl and I decide to go to some party or something that’s going on. It’s this outdoor event where everybody is sitting at round, black tables on some kind of patio or something. There’s a guy giving a speech, and everyone gives me and the curly-haired girl mean looks because we walked in on the middle of the guy’s speech. The girl and I sit down at a table. The guy giving the speech says that there should be a bowl of fruit at the center of our table, but the bowl on our table is empty. When I look around, I see that all the other tables have huge bowls of blueberries and strawberries on them. The curly-haired girl is very upset that we don’t have any fruit. After that, I go to talk to my mom and Fiona (my sister) who are apparently also there. They’re standing next to this pile of what looks like Spanish rice, with tiny mussels in it. It looks really nasty, but my mom says we have to eat some of it. I pick up a handful and eat it, and discover that the mussels just kind of taste like black beans or something, so it actually tastes quite good. So, I keep eating the stuff. For some reason, as I’m eating I think about a time someone apparently told me that you could survive if you only ate three grapes a day––which I’m pretty sure is not true, but in the dream I’m like, “That’s such a fascinating fact!” Fiona is still reluctant to eat the rice, but she eats some of it anyway. I decide I’m going to go make a sandwich, because apparently there are sandwich-making materials around. I have difficulty finding two pieces of bread, for some reason. The bread is kind of dark … whole wheat, I guess? I put several pieces of orange-colored cheese in the sandwich––and I want to find some turkey, but I can’t find any. I find a row of fruit, and I’m excited because I decide I really want some fruit. There’s a different set of tongs for each kind of fruit. I want strawberries, but the strawberries don’t seem to have their own set of tongs––so I use the ones that are supposed to be for cheese. Some lady––who looks like my 11th-grade Chemistry teacher––comes up to me and starts yelling at me, saying I’ve made the strawberries taste like cheese or something. I also feel guilty because I realize that, if someone was allergic to strawberries, they can’t eat any cheese now. I go to look for some coffee, and I find that there aren’t many coffee cups left. There’s this hippy-ish guy with a long, pale beard cleaning out all the coffee mugs in a sink, but he’s not doing a very careful job. He’s just kind of carelessly rinsing them out and putting them on the counter. I pick up a mug that he just rinsed out, and it still looks dirty. But the other mugs left are weirdly-shaped and I don’t want to use them. And uh, that’s all I can remember.
Not much to report today. When I woke up this morning, I couldn't remember any dreams. I went back to sleep for about an hour ... I think I had a brief dream in which I was watching "Dance Moms" (which I'd watched the night before, before I'd gone to sleep). And some of the moms were complaining about some weird screeching noise that one of the other moms kept making, or something. Very hazy, don't remember much of it ...
I recall four dreams from last night: DREAM #1 I go to some village with my family... I guess it's kind of like Old Sturbridge Village or something. We don't have long to be there because it's about to close. They make everyone take out their phones and iPods and leave them at the front entrance on top of a blanket. I felt self-conscious because my iPod looks really small compared to everyone else's. In the village place, we go to a bookstore. I dance around in the bookstore singing a song about Pinkie Pie. ... Yup. DREAM #2 I'm at a library, and I'm helping a woman return her materials. But then I'm not sure where to return the CDs because I can't find the slot for audio/visual returns. Suddenly there are like a hundred different return slots at the library desk and I can't figure out what any of them mean. So I just leave the CDs lying around and hope one of the librarians will find them. The woman I helped sends her son to find me, and he gives me a card with money in it. Then I go outside and my dad is there to pick me up. I'm still worrying about the CDs. DREAM #3 Brief dream about some kind of family reunion, I think at my grandma's house. My mom is complaining about how she doesn't like one of her cousins, which I find shocking since I thought they were friends. DREAM #4 I'm being forced into a Hunger Games type of competition, where a bunch of kids have to fight with each other and one kid has to kill everyone else. Except, we all have to wear ridiculous outfits while we're fighting. We each have some kind of personal assistant who shows us what we're going to wear. My assistant is this kind of chubby bald guy, and my outfit is this ridiculous Victorian-looking yellow dress with a lot of buttons up the front and a tiered skirt. Then I have to wear a yellow leather jacket over it. We all get changed in the same room. I change next to Fiona (my sister), because she is also in the competition. She has to wear a purple dress. The bald guy is in the room with all of us, but he politely turns and looks at the wall so he doesn't see everyone naked. I'm already starting to plan how I'm going to kill anyone who tries to attack me. Apparently I will have a sword for my weapon, and I plan to throw it at anyone who comes near me, and I think this is a totally foolproof plan. Later on, I'm doing my hair next to some girl with pale, short blond hair. For some reason I know her name is Juliet, and I'm convinced that she used to go to Hampshire (where I go to school) but then dropped out, even though she doesn't exist in real life. Anyway, she says something to me like, "Everyone who dies will be a ghost. And the person who wins will be a monster." And in my dream I think that's the deepest thing ever. Afterward, we all get a last dinner with our families. So I'm sitting at a table with my family, but I'm still thinking about what Juliet said. Fiona is like, "I have so much energy right now!" And I'm like, "But Fiona, we have to kill people!" And that's about where the dream ends.
I had three dreams last night (that I can remember): DREAM #1 I am semi-lucid during this dream. Kermit the frog appeared next to my bed. And then we both float up into the air and start flying down the stairs and out the front door. I decide that I wanted Kermit to glow, so he starts glowing. Then we’re just flying through the sky and singing together, and that's about where the dream ends. DREAM #2 I'm sitting in some kind of loft type place, with some guy with a beard, and we're watching soccer on TV. I have a feeling I don't like this guy. Not a very long or detailed dream. DREAM #3 I'm in my backyard, and Acacia and Abby (my friends) are there. I'm commenting on Abby's hair because it has all these weird braids in it that you can somehow see from the back but not the front. Suddenly, Acacia decides that she really wants coffee, and we decide to go to McDonald's to find some. There's this random McDonald's window near my house. The lady working there is one of the cafeteria ladies from my school. Unfortunately the McDonald's is closed. I check the time on my iPod and see that it's almost 9 PM, when for some reason I thought it was only around 5 or so. Acacia and I go to a different McDonald's, where we have to stand in line for a minute because there are a few people ahead of us. While we're waiting, I notice that Acacia is wearing a black hat and sparkling purple lipstick. So I'm like, "Ooh I love your lipstick!" And Acacia is like, "Thanks!" So I try to decide what to order, but I can't see the menu from where I'm standing. Plus there's all this random stuff piled up behind the counter. Acacia tells me they're selling one brand of coffee called Coldwell Scent that only costs a dollar, so that is what we both decide to order. The lady who takes our order has black hair pulled back into a messy bun, and I think she seems nice. I wake up before we actually get our coffee. ... Well, at least I was kind of lucid during that first dream. I realized I was dreaming and controlled one small thing. Not much, but it's a step forward I guess.
I've been awful at writing down my dreams for the past couple of months, so I'm trying to get back into it again. Here are the last three dreams I've recorded: Dream #1: Really brief dream which I don’t really remember. Something about watching an interview with some singer or something. I think he has red hair. And he talks about how he likes to hang out near dumpsters. Dream #2: I’m part of a group of kids and we are all troll hunters. We are summoned to a town that has some kind of troll infestation. We have special troll-killing weapons that we always refer to as “troll-floggers.” These weapons are basically just sticks with a spiky ball at the end. So, I guess they’re kind of like flails. Anyway, we go into this one house that looks like my grandparents’ house. And then we’re like, “Oh no, we forgot our troll-floggers! … Oh well, we can fight the troll with our bare hands.” But then we get to the bottom of the stairs (we’re walking downstairs for some reason … I guess the troll is in the basement or whatever). And the troll there is SUPER GIGANTIC. So we’re all like, “Shiiiiit!” Then one girl in the group jumps over the banister holding a hammer and I guess she’s going to use it to kill the troll. But then, the troll turns into a glass measuring cup. And she keeps smashing and smashing it. And then it like … turns into a dog … and she stabs it in the neck. I don’t know, it doesn’t make a lot of sense. Dream #3: I'm in a room with my sisters. There's bookshelf in the room and we're all discussing books. I see a book I've been meaning to read on the bookshelf and I'm like, “Oh, I didn’t know we owned that book. My mom must have bought it at the used book store.” And then I'm telling my sisters about a series I'm reading. It involves a bear and a dog who are friends, or something. There are four books in the series, but each book is actually made up of several shorter books. I'm trying to convince my sisters that these books are good, but they don't believe me. (It's kind of like trying to make them read books in real life...)
