Was hiking down a mountain. Got to near the bottom when I realized I had forgotten something. Against my personal ethic of taking care of myself I offer to pay a younger man to hike back up to fetch it, assuring him, truthfully, that it's not too far up. He accepts... I forgive R.

Received an official notification that a certain man from my hometown of Italian descent had passed away. To my surprise he left me something that was locked away in a vault. I had a certain amount of time to retrieve it. Luckily, I noticed, I'd be back to my hometown from Tokyo before the deadline. Assumed it was an old school photo.

Streets were flooded due to heavy rains. People rode boats down them. In a house with BB. Talked about the need to not calk outside sidewalks and such because the water is not draining. BB said he hates it when people don't want to kill animals. A bit perturbed, asked why? He didn't answer. I figured that's how he avoids conflicts. Later an enormous elephant (even by elephant standards) was being mistreated. It broke out of its shackles. Was thrilled by this. It went on a bit of a rampage but did not stomp on any of the people and in fact calmed down.

Was watching a woman practice horseback riding. She was making the horse leap over other horses. After awhile the jumping horse inadvertently kicked a foal in the head. The foal fell and was writhing. I thought it would be needed to be put to death. The woman kept riding. Tried to jump over an adult horse and the same thing happened--kicked it in the head sending it down and writhing. This time, in an act of mercy killing, she clubbed it on the head. Later we gathered, I thought to mourn and say kind words. But she said, 'You know, that horse never did it's chores and was just listless. It's for the better.' Was silent but angered thinking, 'You pulled it from it's family, forced labor on it, and kill it. You have no right.' Was thinking what to say when the scene changed.

Middle of night mild nightmare startled me awake and caused a shout. About what? Towards morning at an outdoor square where shirtless David W. was getting shaved by a young girl. As I walked past twice or more she was shaving ass hair, presumably, from the outside of his gym shorts. Thought it strange and something sexual related.

Was at some sort of huge country inn. While wife and kids slept in the room I walked around some other rooms that were open to all guests. Couldn't sleep. People were milling about. One young woman took my arm and started talking to me. After just a minute or two chat she asked, 'Do you want to do it?' Was shocked. Had hardly had time to feel attracted to her. She showed me her belly. Was tempted to go with her. Mentioned my family in the next room. Didn't go with her. Went outside. Was night. Somewhat scary scene as large gangs of guys came by. No one bothered me.

Was at an open air gathering joint. Across the way surprised to see PW, AM, and ? (all from NY) sitting at a table. Made small talk with them. They said they came to go disco dancing. Was surprised. Chatted a bit. Decided to go talk more with them. Attracted to PW of course. Expressed surprise that they'd disco dance--and it was only 8pm! Thinking it such a cliche asked had the DJ played 'Don't you want me baby?' Had they came yesterday? No, started early. After a few minutes they got up and left, cooly. Thought, 'Ah, hurt their feelings the way I laughed about disco dancing. That's why hometown people don't like me, too critical. Didn't mean to mock.' Felt a mixture of guilt and defensiveness. Went back to my table with BB. He tried to recline with shoulder on my lap but I wouldn't let him at first, then did, not wanting to offend. Still thinking about encounter with three who left.

Was on a crowded train. Sat on a small section of open seat. A stranger nearby indicated that I should get up. This was taken kindly. He indicated that I was crowding the person sitting there (who was important somehow--with an infant? a soldier?). I obliged. Later the train became less crowded and I sat down.

In a hostel-type place with a maze of narrow hallways: one led to the beach but I kept going to another then a third exit. Stormy weather and I was outside. N. came to see me which made me very happy. Had a nice chat. She had left my stuff scattered on the street and I went to pick it up. She appreciated it. Saw some food stands (reminded me of a wide Siberian street, few cars) but most of the sweet potatoes were gone. I figured the rats had gotten to the food. Some of my stuff, including my bicycle, was there. Saw some other red and black seats and briefly wondered whether somebody didn't steal mine.
