Non-Lucid Dreams
This took place in a video game for some time. I have no idea what was happening early on, but I do know that I had a lot of junk in my inventory and that every monster killed would drop a humongous pill shaped like a Sweet Tart. Eventually, I happened upon some kind of a demon guy who offered to take me to a shop. I accepted. First he told me to put some things on a raft in some water (I put my whole backpack on the raft) and he teleported me. He transported me into this small room with a couple of tables (the kind you would see in a school cafeteria, but without seats) covered in plastic table cloths. Apparently, putting things on the raft automatically sells them for you, which is annoying because everything I owned was in that backpack. Fortunately, I got the backpack back as well as a good share of cash. Each table had a handful of items for sale on it. Most of them were pretty worthless for me, such as packs of M&Ms, but I did note a pair of gloves and some jewelry. Upon further inspection, though, the jewelry was made out of plastic. The pair of gloves was beige, rather worn, and made of suede. A simple pair of work gloves. However, for whatever reason, they were highly enchanted. I picked them up and bought them and immediately put them on. I tried to see if any of the plastic jewelry was enchanted, but I noticed that it (among most things in the store; the gloves must have been an anomaly) cost "tickets" instead of cash. I only had one, so I started walking out. Along the way I bumped the jewelry cabinet with my backpack that had suddenly become full, and I was ushered out very quickly. Some time later, I was in the dungeon to the south of the demon guy. My inventory was nearly full again and I was traveling to the shop. I had very little money, though I had apparently recruited a lot of IRL friends. They told me to go left of where I was currently, and I did. I found a giant coin (which apparently earned me absolutely no money) as well as some assorted loot further down. The entire area was pitch black. I exited and finished traveling to the demon that transported me to the shop, only to discover that the area was flooded. My friends apparently had the ability to place rafts to reach him and were bickering over how to orient them. They finally settled on an arrangement, and I jumped to one raft where the salesdemon was. I noticed that there was apparently something on one of the other rafts, so I jumped to it. The raft was not very stable, however, and flipped over the moment I landed. A minor commotion rose up among my friends who claimed that if the rafts had been oriented their way, I would not have fallen in. I ignored them and climbed back onto the salesdemon raft. The selling raft was a good distance away and I figured I could just sell me junk directly in the shop, so I began to ask the salesdemon to teleport me. Before I could finish, though, one of my friends stopped me. Everyone collaboratively threw their entire inventory onto the sell platform so that I could buy everyone (me included) some new equipment. But mostly me, because I was awesome. I resumed teleporting. In essence, this did NOTHING. When I arrived at the shop, I only had 50 gold (in comparison to, IIRC, 1987 gold from the first time). Apparently putting items on the selling platform resulted in the owner gaining money when they teleported, not the next person to teleport. Only one person came with me, and they had nothing in their inventory to sell. It seemed like nobody would buy my items, either, so I was stuck window shopping. The store was completely different this time around. Instead of looking like a makeshift school store, it looked like a distinguished magic shop. Various magical and magic-related items were stocked on various shelves. Immediately after teleporting in, I saw a fire-shooting staff that would definitely come in handy; I figured I could attempt to steal it since it was apparently inside a small box that couldn't possibly fit a staff. When I went over to it's shelf, however, it had been replaced by something else. The items were widely varied and all magical as I said, but everyone except for the shopkeepers seemed to be incapable of magic. I noticed that the dark of the place was dark, so me and the one friend that came with me took out a flashlight and entered the darkness. We could see a rack of very dusty, cobweb-ridden barrels of various sizes (even something that looked like half a liter) for sale. There were some equally dusty picnic tables scattered around, and a wooden (!?!) fireplace centered in the room. The darkened area was like a whole new room, being a lot more rustic and a lot less modern than the actual shop. We noticed a door in the dark area. We figured that we could possibly score some loot from the area behind it, as it seemed like nobody had gone to the dark area for literally ages. As soon as we started walking towards it, I woke up. Interestingly, magic shops accessed via teleportation appear to be recurring of all things. Not long ago I had a dream where if I clapped my hands together, locked my legs, closed my eyes, and concentrated, I would teleport to a magic shop that also happened to be selling a very crappy katana. The stock changed every time I went to that magic shop, but the room layout was the same.
Unfortunately, my recall has been shoddy recently so I can't explain the whole dream. However, one part particularly stood out; I was sitting at my desk in the living room (which I haven't done in years), flicking through some gameboy games. I took a look at a game in a red cartridge (as if it were Pokemon Fire Red) and noticed it was one of my "favorite" games. I then explained what it was as if my dream were a television program as snapshots of gameplay showed up in my vision. What makes this most interesting is that I had been inside this game before in a previous dream, playing it like a top-down Zelda game. The only thing I saw in this dream of it was the character killing a snake in a room that gave me a lot of trouble, but it still amazes me that that particular dream decided to show itself again.
This dream is split up into three parts; a part before that focuses on my two new dream brothers, a middle intermission sort of thing where I become lucid and teach some hobo-looking guy how to become lucid as well (and fly of course), and a third part with all the psuedo-Norse mythology woven in. The first part I don't remember too well. My mother had given birth to two baby boys, that were apparently fist-sized and swimming in a coffee concoction with marshmallows (I tasted a cup of it without a baby in it; it was actually pretty good and tasted like hot chocolate with a bit of coffee, but I had no idea what a baby was doing in it; I think it may have been some sort of life support because they were so tiny?) Most of the time in this part of the dream I just talked with my family, including the brothers (yes, they could talk). At some point the dream abruptly switched to a zombie apocalypse game similar to a TF2 server I play on. Since there were no classes in reality, the best way to survive was to hide, so I hid alone behind my mom's bed (I should mention that most of the house was different, but my mom's room and a nearby hallway were the same as in reality). No zombies ever drew near, and eventually time ran out and I won. Most of my family (including aunts, uncles, etc) had become zombified, leaving only my immediate family alive (sans the brothers, they vanished at this point): me, my sister, and my mother. My memory of the dream is shaky from here, but I believe we play again. This time, there are classes from TF2, so I switch to engineer and build a sentry in my mom's hallway. I put a dispenser behind me, and two teleporters in front of the sentry (in-game they stop a variant of the demoman class called a demoknight from charging due to the small height change). I wish that I had more support and turn around to see that there are two more sentry guns placed behind me from two friendly engineers; I later realize this is impossible because the max limit is two engineers, but I paid no attention to it. The dream is fuzzy from here. Notably, my father never appears in this segment, my real one or otherwise. In the intermission, i'm at a park; it was sort of like an area of New York I had seen, it may have been Central Park. I notice something is amiss and I become lucid. The vast majority of the people walking around also seem to wake up as if they had become lucid in their own dreams, and they collectively fly away together. A man is left behind that looks sort of like a hobo, who looks pretty grim. I ask him what is wrong, and he says he doesn't know how to control his dreams. I go over the basics for him and then I goof around with flying (which I have not done for several months due to a lack of LDs; fortunately for me, they have begun returning and i'm getting one every few days now). At some point during the intermission (not sure when but it was before I came lucid), i'm standing in a classroom. A very pretty girl asks me where I live, and I respond (for whatever reason she says that it isn't a real town even though she asked me if I lived there by name, and I say that it is). She then tells me where she lives tells me that she likes me (lelz) and that she would like to meet me at her house. Since it was pretty hard to refuse, I said "all right". She then vanishes before my eyes. The dream gets fuzzy from there on out, but I remember being annoyed that she simply vanished and that for as long as I can remember in that part, I stayed in the classroom. After this, I lost lucidity. The third part is a continuation of the first part. My family (this time with a father, though not my real father) has moved into a new house. It's several years into the future; my sister is only at the house for a small time as she has to go to New York for school, and the brothers are now around four years old and walking (and capable of advanced speech; this doesn't surprise me even now, as they could talk while they were swimming in coffee). I begin to feel jealous of my brothers, now that I am not an only child (this is false, I was never an only child; I conveniently forgot my sister here). I walk around our new house, exploring (it looked miles better than the old one) and chatting with my family. Eventually, I got annoyed and went outdoors. There are a couple of farm buildings around our house (but no barn). I approached one and discovered that we now owned some sort of chimera-like creature, a horse with a giant chicken head. It's behavior was a lot like a dog, though it also acted like a cat in that it wasn't very noisy. For whatever reason, I decided that it was a good time to fly away, so I flew up and over the trees surrounding my house. I was flying horizontally with my belly facing up and my back towards the canopy. Occasionally, I would see a massive tree that looked something like a deciduous redwood. I had to dodge one once, as it was in my way. They got more and more abundant the further I went, and eventually the canopy of one of the smaller trees below me rose up enough to stop me in my tracks and entangle me. I struggled to get free. After a while, I managed to get out, and I promptly flew back the way I came, this time actually looking where I was going (in other words, I flew with my belly facing the canopy and looking forward rather than my belly facing the sky and looking up). After some time, I reached my house again. I was very fed up with how everything was going, so I decided to leave (somehow) by "exiting out of the server" as if it were a game. I magically opened up a menu, but in place of what I expected to be "exit", it instead said "ascend". I clicked on ascend (somehow), and out of nowhere some sort of a valkyrie appeared, said some things I don't recall, and caused a kind of magic spring to appear at my feet. A few things to note about the spring; it wasn't in the ground at all, it was on the surface surrounded by these crystal walls that shimmered various cool colors (primarily purple, pink, cyan, and blue in that order of rarity). Some of the rocks lying on the ground near the spring also became the same kind of crystal, but it was merely a pale, transparent gray. Dipping it in the water caused it to glow like the crystal walls for a moment before fading back to gray. The walls themselves had some sort of a pattern on it; there were waves (or was it a pattern of double helixes?) etched into the crystal, but in the center of each wave was a circle. The water itself, as I said, caused the crystal to grow. However, the water tasted excellent! It was just cold enough, with a very faint sweetness, and you could almost taste pure power in it. I sensed that it had healing properties as well. I went back inside. The brothers, my sister (she was back somehow), and my mother had no idea what it was, and my whole immediate family was standing on the second floor looking out a window at it. I said something about it, (I think I said something incredibly out of character, along the lines of "So what, i'm barely old enough to summon it..."; when I said this, the number 3102 flashed in my vision briefly) and my "father" reacted. He said something along the lines of "You summoned that, boy? You shouldn't have done that! Not with all these omens, anyway..." He got angry, and (switching back to video game elements) I said that I could just reload from my last save to before I summoned it. He questioned me further and I told him that it was from some time before I summoned it but after I went outside, and he told me to reload the save. I did. I was back outside, in a second stable (the first one from before contained the chicken horse; this was a different one). There were, for whatever reason, female rumps sticking out of the walls. My sister was nearby and called me a pervert. I shrugged it off and left the stable. The dream gets fuzzy from here, but I made sure not to click the "ascend" button again. After some time, the valkyrie came again and took me away. Next thing I know, i'm in a very small sort of mausoleum. It's floating off the ground, and it's made of a transparent gray glass, and it's lined with some sort of gold-colored material. Outside, I can see thousands and thousands of excited people crowded in some large circular walled-in area; it's a very grand looking place, made of stone and decorated with the same gold material as in the mausoleum. I can detect that you can only see through the glass from the inside; the people on the outside cannot see me or anything else in here. I stop looking outside and look ahead. In front of me is a very old yet powerful looking man, and behind him is a stone coffin. Next to me is the valkyrie; for the first time, I can get a good look at her. She's half my size, so I assume she's a dwarf; she looks kind of like She-Ra, but with slightly darker skin, and she also has angel wings. The old, powerful man explains to me that he is Odin and that I am his heir, and that I am next in line to take his place as a god. He then explains my job (quickly) and that the valkyrie was my servant. He wishes me luck and enters the coffin. For a moment, my vision shifts out of myself and I can see the mausoleum from the side; once Odin enters the coffin, his robe-like clothes pop on to me, and my vision promptly switches back to my eyes. The coffin vanishes, and the mausoleum rockets up and eventually shatters. The valkyrie and I are both floating high above. Since i'm now a god, I decide to exit the arena-like place and fly around the city a little. It's quite spectacular with the gold decorations and the stone (I like stone ), though I still have no idea what it is (it matches up to a Christian heaven more than Asgard). Shortly, the assistant valkyrie mentions that I have duties to attend to (unsurprisingly) so I ask what they are. She says that I have to create more of those magic pools I had seen earlier. Since I was new to the job, the valkyrie would help me with this one. She showed me that I had a way of calling upon a radar to see where I was needed (I explain it at the end of the page), and she showed me a rather danger-free area where a pool was needed. She poked the spot on the radar where the pool was needed and we both teleported there. I appeared on the ground in a small town that looked similar to one in Skyrim in Whiterun hold. This was fitting, as the word "Skyrim" appeared in white letters in the middle of my vision, and faded out soon. The valkyrie began walking in some direction, and I followed her; we eventually found a sort of hay-filled indoors area where a person was sitting. The valkyrie showed me the incantation required to summon the pool, and soon enough a magic pool very similar to the one created for me when I hit "ascend" appeared. Something was amiss, though, and soon the valkyrie noticed several tiny blue imps with pitchforks flying around in the sky. The dream was fuzzy here, but I seem to remember a second valkyrie appearing to deal with the imps and both me and the assistant valkyrie heading back to the city. People in the city were starting to riot; the blue imps were here, too. Here and there were a couple of valkyries fending them off, but even though they killed plenty they seemed to keep coming. The assistant valkyrie told me that in order to stop them, I had to create more of the pools, which would somehow help the valkyries fend off the imps. Unfortunately for me, the assistant had to stay and fight or else the city would be overrun by the imps, so I had to summon the next pool alone. Worst of all, the pool was required in the red region, and the valkyrie mentioned that most valkyries that went there did not return, and that I had to be very careful; it was probably best, then, that she stayed or else she would be slain. When I poked the place where I was needed, it took me to a sort of overhead look at some sort of organic place. Two people were talking in the background, and saying that it was a wretched place and it was a miracle that people survived there at all. They mentioned one small town which was apparently major, and said that it was conquered by some sludge thing. Eventually, I found myself in some sort of a fleshy tube. The path ahead was filled with all manner of nasty monsters. My view zoomed out so I had a third person view of myself, though as a consequence I lost control of myself. The Valkyries were right; I was having a tough time killing the monsters here (I even encountered one of the sludges that singlehandedly wiped out a town, as the two voices mentioned that gave me a hell of a time), and I was a god. The dream fades as I fight in the horrifying place, and I wake up. A few notes on this dream: from what I can tell, the valkyrie is based off of the one from Nethack. It's especially probable, considering that the first time I seriously played the game and for a good while after that, I was a dwarf valkyrie. The strange thing, though, is that dwarven valkyries are always lawful, and lawful valkyries (whether dwarf or human) worship Tyr. Only neutral valkyries (which as I said cannot be a dwarf and must be a human) are capable of worshiping Odin. The dwarven valkyrie also could not have been wearing a Helm of Opposite Alignment, as that would make her chaotic rather than neutral and she would thus worship Loki instead. This indicates that, in order for her to become neutral by in-game standards, she would have to pray at a neutral altar with negative alignment as a lawful valkyrie, which would cause her to lose luck (meaning she would probably no longer be able to pray) and would change her alignment to neutral. What surprises me is that this valkyrie is probably the one most loyal to Odin, despite the fact that it would take a long time to get to good standing with Odin compared to a human valkyrie that started out worshiping Odin. The position of Odin in this dream world is probably in name only. From what I theorize, the original Odin in this world is actually long-dead, unless the dream world is incredibly young. The various Odins are not immortal like you would expect a god to be, and age just like a human and can die of old age (though they probably are immune to disease and whatnot since they ARE gods). Thus, when they get old, they choose the next suitable person; this happens to be their heir, if there is one. Thus, the old Odin dies, and the heir takes up the throne and becomes a new Odin. Sort of like the Dread Pirate Roberts from The Princess Bride. Of slight note is that I, as Odin, did not use Gungnir. I had a whip of some kind. Granted, when I ended up in combat, the dream started falling apart. Apparently, hitting the Ascend button changed the timeline. In the button where I got the magic pool, someone else must have become Odin, and the valkyrie showed them what they needed to do to create the pool; since the valkyrie created the pool for me the first time it was required when I was Odin, this would explain why the valkyrie created the pool for me when I hit Ascend, since I became Odin in the second timeline at roughly the same time as I got the magic pool in the first timeline. Allow me to explain the radar: it was shaped like a semicircle and split into five parts. The leftmost part was red, the part above that was some kind of greenish red (isn't that an impossible color?), and the remaining three points were green. I believe the green areas indicated areas of low danger where pools were needed. Since an area in the red zone took me to the horrifying place, I can only assume that the red areas are the dangerous areas. The greenish-red area must lead to an area of slightly more danger than the completely green areas (it wasn't THAT reddish) but I never went there so I could not tell. There was also a button centered on the bottom that took me back to the city with the gold gilding. Holy crépes that was long. Haven't had a dream that long in a while. My recall must be improving.
I was sitting in the back seat of my car, wearing an excessive amount of clothing. At the time, I only knew that I was wearing a heavy black overcoat/trench coat and that I felt very heavy due to all the clothes I was wearing that I couldn't see. I was discussing coats with someone in the front seat. He mentioned something about my coat, and I said something else I cannot remember. At this point, I took off the heavy black overcoat, revealing a very pleasant (and much lighter) beige coat that I called an "undercoat" although it was just as long as the overcoat. The person in the front (I never noticed what they looked like) commented that I looked pretty nice with the undercoat, so I double checked in the mirror. For whatever reason, I looked (and, as soon as I looked at myself, felt) fantastic; the coat was clean and pure without any lint on it. There were two brown ornate buttons on the coat holding it closed and a piece of brown cloth was used as a belt. In addition, I was wearing a very nice fedora of the same color with a large feather stuck in it (though the brim was absurdly large to the point that it resembled a sombrero slightly). My hair was very very long and was golden, contrasting with my brown hair that looks shorter than it really is. I appeared to be two or three years older than I actually am as well. Some people may have thought I looked somewhat girly, but I thought I looked great. Some time later, I checked in the mirror again. This time, all I noticed was the face of an old man; my view zoomed in on him, and he looked rather unpleasant; wrinkled and chewing on something. At the same time, he bore an uncanny resemblance to me. I realized that this couldn't be me since I was much younger, and upon realizing this I said aloud "Hey, that old man is in the car in front of me, my reflection is in the corner!" (Side note: The mirror was pointed away from the car in front of me, yet the old man appeared in the mirror anyway.) I saw my own face in the corner of the mirror, looking like a normal (though somewhat younger) me. The rest of the dream is fuzzy, though I remember the car was driving around my regional high school (not the one I actually go to however) and there were lots of people selling things in small stands outside. I remember having a nice brassy ornate ring in the same style of the buttons of the "undercoat" but after a while I realized it was just junky plastic. I suppose that the golden-haired coat-clad me is a representation of what I want to become (or will become, though probably sans the hair) in the future: a bright person who is fairly wealthy and intelligent. The ugly old man probably represents an alternate future person who is who I will become if I don't play my cards right; after all, I dismiss the possibility of me going down the wrong road as unlikely, which may be why I said in the dream that the old man couldn't possibly be me. The small younger me in the corner of the mirror probably represents the current me, as I had been acting more immature than usual in the past week. I have no idea who the man driving the car is (though, since I did see my dead father in the dream a couple of times, it may be him) and I don't know why we were discussing coats (besides the fact that I like long coats).
My memory of the dream is rather shaky, but here it goes: I was a dwarf living in a dwarf fortress, although everything seemed to be rather manmade. There were a lot of tunnels we used for transportation that were, for whatever reason, filled with water. Strangely enough, I was a wizard. From what I recall, the plot of the dream goes like this: I'm trying to get through a tunnel, but some construction workers stop me because it's filled with water. I wait until it's ready and go through, and I end up in a place resembling a playground on a giant plate. I climb to the top to where the mayor of the fortress is, and from there I begin practicing magic (essentially I looked for a random critter on the plate and blasted it with a tornado of fire when I saw it). I did this for a while before I went back through the tunnel to my home (which appeared to be the ONLY thing underground). It was connected to several other rooms, sort of like a hotel. A loudspeaker went off and told everyone that a tournament was being held, so I got ready to fight and went to the arena, but I woke up before I could enter. My magic abilities were similar to using a staff in Cubeworld, and the creatures resembled creatures from Cubeworld. There was also the odd mention of an absurdly expensive "green marmalade" that could be used to tame a "brown forest healer" but I only remember hearing about the green marmalade in fragments (except for a bit where it was announced just outside the arena) and I only saw the forest healers in a fragment once (they resembled the Black Mage from FF1, except their clothes were brown).
