    1. Red manor maiden.

Once again, I've neglected this online dream journal.

This is something I have to share, though... It's really just a vague recollection of a dream that seemed to go very quickly.
I dreamt I was in a large, old style house, a very lavish one at that. It was dark and cold outside, seemingly autumn due to the orange leaves visible on the ground. The events that transpired in the manor were unclear, but there was a lot of "red" symbolism... Red walls, red flowers, particularly roses, and a young girl clad in red gown, who seemed to be attacking and killing people (or monsters disguised as people) in the manor... More red, in the form of blood.
I recall talking to her, but she wasn't hostile. She seemed like she was protecting something, rather than being malicious. She gave off the impression of being on my side, and she was startlingly mature for someone of her age. I don't remember anything else, and it was an earlier dream of the night, so I'm lucky to remember much at all.

The reason I've posted this, however, is that upon telling one of the friends I live with about this dream, she asked if the flowers were red. I said yes, and she shared a story of having some hypnopompic imagery of a vase of red flowers the same morning after I had the dream. This was interesting as it was, but I continued to explain, especially in terms of the mysterious girl, and she asked if her hair was straight and black, which it was. It seems she has dreamt of her as well in the past.

    2. Witch hunt.

Once again, the dreams just before waking were both the most vivid and the most memorable.

I was attending a new university, and it was probably November, judging by the mixture of fall leaves and faint dusting of snow on the ground. I was wandering around inside, looking for my class in the building, whose walls were ocean blue with slate-grey floors. I met someone who noticed that I was lost, and she helped me find my way to class.

Class must not have been interesting, since it ended very quickly, to the point where it felt like I had skipped it altogether. I met up with my new friend in the courtyard of the school. The sky was a mixture of streaked-grey and pale blue, and the courtyard had a large platform made of pastel-coral bricks. We sat down, and my focus shifted to another pair; a woman around my age with auburn hair a bit past her shoulders and glasses. She was with a dark-haired female friend, and she seemed to be watching someone, a man. He walked by and called out a surname, likely hers, and she called his back, but he walked up to another girl and kissed her. I could sense that the auburn-haired girl was disappointed but tried to hide it (I had gathered that the other girl shared surnames with her, hence the misunderstanding). The man looked back at her and mocked her.

Suddenly, the administrator of the school (or so he seemed) appeared and the sky went dark; he shone a spotlight from above on the auburn-haired girl, and made an indistinct speech. It ended with an accusation - he called her a witch, and said she needed to be exterminated. He called out to four students in the four cardinal directions, and assigned an element to each of them (Earth, Air, Water, Fire). They then used seemingly normal objects (such as a grate) to concentrate energy on the center of the courtyard where the "witch" was. She was enveloped in a dome-shaped barrier that seemed to keep her inside. The administrator then ushered everybody inside of the school building. I had a feeling that he was going to leave her in the elemental prison he had constructed until she died of exposure, starvation, what have you.

I felt very bad for her, and somehow like I was connected, and possibly in the same situation as a potential witch myself... Why I felt this, I am unsure. What I did know was that I wanted to help her, but I woke up before I could do so.

      Notes:

      - My point of view shifted a few times from my own to that of a third-person view above the auburn-haired girl.
      - This dream has given me an idea or two for a book I'd like to write... Dreams are inspiring, aren't they?
      - This was the first night after I resumed taking a 5-HTP supplement (not specifically for dreaming, but it does have an effect as I've noticed with past dream-related use). However, I was taking it in three separate daily doses, not at bedtime, so the REM suppression effect probably isn't as strong as a single nighttime dose.
