    1. Lucid kiss

      by , 03-22-2011 at 10:36 AM
This is the first lucid I've had in a while. I ate Wensleydale cheese before going to bed - maybe that helped!

I was in a spacious house. Everyone was getting ready for a big journey in a car, and a guy my age was packing up - I heard his family calling him "Hey, we've only got a few minutes to go, you can't pack both of those at the same time!" or something. "OKAY, OKAY!" he shouted back angrily. I knew there were two pretty girls in the house, and I wanted to impress them. I walked over to the guy. "Need me to carry one of those to the car for you? I can help," I said. Without me even noticing the change, this kid turned into my brother all of a sudden. "NO. I don't need anyone else screwing stuff up for me, I'm stressed enough already! Now piss off!"
Needless to say, this made me pretty mad. There was some sort of drawing board in front of us, with a few diagrams sketched on it. Harnessing my mental power, I blew the drawing board to pieces just by wanting it to happen.
"See what I can do? I asked if you wanted any help, and you told me to piss off. I can end this world, you know!" I said. Walking away from more sarcastic comments, I strode over to a window. At this point, I wasn't even lucid yet! Looking out the window, I saw a car parked in the road below. People were getting into it one by one. Realising what I'd just done, I came to the conclusion that I was dreaming.

I think I jumped out the window then, landing safely. The two pretty girls were sitting in the front of the car. "Now or never," I thought. I walked over to the car and got in. One of the girls turned round to face me. "This is it! My perfect chance," I thought. But part of me still clung to reality. Everyone was watching me, and I feared their reactions. "If this isn't a dream, I'm screwed".
I leaned in closer to the girl, and kissed her. She kissed back. Nobody else even cared! It was great to just kiss a complete stranger like that with no repercussions. When the beautiful kiss was over, I was going to get out of the car and run back into the house, which was my home, but I decided to stay in the car. I wanted to see where the journey would take us.
"Looks like I'm staying, haha," I said, as we started to drive away. I felt myself losing clarity, so I rubbed my hands on the seats of the car and did a few reality checks, but nothing prevented my from falling into darkness, only to go into another dream.

    2. Working on world-building skills

      by , 01-16-2011 at 02:36 PM
Had a lucid dream last night. It didn't go as I expected, and I faded into non-lucidity without realising. God, lucid dreaming can be tricky stuff.

So I was standing on a platform which jutted out from a skyscraper, way up high. Lined along this wide platform were huge artillery guns. The ground far below was brown-red, and scarred with craters. A war was clearly taking place.
Rolling along on the ground were big truck-like things. It was hard to tell what they were, because they were so small. In the sky were various aircraft, such as blimps. Anyway, I believe someone else was with me on the platform, but I can't remember who.
I knew we were under attack, and without hesitation I ran to one of the futuristic artillery guns. Pressing a button, I targeted a ground vehicle. A red box appeared on it, like in a flight simulation game, to tell me it had locked on.
The cannon fired. A glowing shell flew through the air and hit its mark. I noted that encircling the platform was a very faint, translucent bubble, which shimmered and shifted in the light.
I knew immediately that it was a force-field, an energy shield of sorts. It was the only thing protecting us from the aircraft.
After shooting with the artillery a little more, I reached out a hand, and touched the shield. Summing up my strength, I directed energy into it, feeling the power flow through me into the shield. It turned brighter and less translucent, more corporeal. But with the attacks of the aircraft, I knew it wouldn't hold forever.

I somehow came to the realisation that I was dreaming. I think it was because I used powers, and the only time I usually do that is when I'm lucid, so it triggered something inside me.
Nonetheless, I remembered what I'd said in waking life, about wanting to enter another world, one of my own creation.
But which world? I struggled to think of a decent place to go, and in the end it came to me - the one I most wanted to go to was the world of my unmade Java game! That was one of my best fleshed-out worlds, I knew it fairly well.
I brought to mind the concept art I had drawn, and imagined the land I had thought for so long about. For the second time ever, I attempted a dream-spin, concentrating on my destination.
The world changed without me realising it, as I spun round and round effortlessly. But when I came to a stop, I was looking at... a game, on a computer screen - my game. I haven't even started actual work on the game yet, only drawn concept art and written about it, so it was sort of cool to see it in a finished form (albeit not exactly like I am planning it). But I imagine the finished game in my head practically every day, so it's not anything new.
No, what I really wanted was to be able to feel the world, to breathe the dusty air of the desert planet I'm designing, to be able to speak with its inhabitants.
A voice, my subconscious I think, said exactly what I was thinking:
"Not quite what you were expecting, eh?"

A cruel mockery of my intentions - I wanted to see the world of my game, and in effect I got that. But it was literally my 2D game, not the real world I was hoping for.

So, here it is - I'm terrible at dream spinning. But I'm grateful for getting the chance to try.
Next time I'll try using a door portal, but I doubt that will work. I'll probably just wake up when I close my dream-eyes, or there will be nothing on the other side of the door.
Anyway, I shall try again if I get the chance.

I find lucid dream powers fickle and mostly a game of acting (expectations turn into results in dreams, I just pretend to do something and it happens). For me, the enjoyment is in experiencing the dream world.

    3. Ninja powers and more!

      by , 12-30-2010 at 02:37 PM
I'm really happy, because I've had a new lucid dream. This one rocked, although I didn't quite get to do all the things I wanted to.
My top dream goal is to reach an amazing place, built from my imagination. I know every place in a dream is built from my imagination, but I want to go somewhere of my choosing.

My parents and I were in an odd, slightly medieval looking house.
The house was on a bank of pebbles, in a very shallow lake. Around the lake was a big cliff, so we were in a sort of basin.

After some unmemorable things happened in the house (something to do with losing a rubber ball I think), I went into the lounge, which had a door to the outside.
I suddenly gained awareness that I was lucid. I don't remember doing a reality check, but I may have done one and forgotten.
My thoughts went something like this:
"Am I dreaming? It's so realistic, just like waking life. Amazing."
I walked around the lounge, touching objects and looking at them close up.

Then, I stepped outside onto the dry pebble bank.
"Now it's time for some fun! I'll try exercising my powers" I thought.
I'd read about people using the kamehameha attack from Dragon Ball, so I decided to use that for practice.
With a confident attitude, I drew back my cupped hands.
"KAMEHAMEHA!" I shouted. A blue beam of energy fired away from me, and fizzled out.

Hah. Then I had another idea - I remembered they used hand signs in Naruto, so I thought anything was worth a shot.
I tried to form some hand signs, but I couldn't do them correctly. I managed to pull it off, however, because I shouted the name of a made-up attack as I did the hand signs.
      It was something like:
      "Landslide cliff destruction!"
It worked. The cliff face shattered - huge slabs of rock broke away from the cliff, and collapsed into the lake. This is where things got a little bad.
The mass of the rocks falling into the water caused the water level to rise in an exaggerated way. I ran back inside and slammed the door. The water level was as high as my chest outside, but luckily the door was water-tight.

Somehow, I ended up back outside, standing on the edge of the cliff, looking down on the lake. The lake seemed to stretch out for miles, with no end in sight. I find this in a lot of my dreams.
To lower the water level, I used a ninja hand sign and said something about the moon, and dragons. The main point was for me to convince myself that I was using a real ninja power. The water exploded in certain locations, releasing bursts of steam. In no time, it was drained of most of its water.
I decided to put it back to normal, not empty, not full, but just right.
Using another power, I sent spouts of water into the lake. That topped it up just right, so it was shallow but not empty.
      I went back inside.

"Where can I go that's highly populated, so that I can speak with people and maybe cause some havoc? Somewhere I've not been before..." I pondered.
Then I realised - New York!
I attempted a dream spin for the first time.
I started spinning round and round, and I thought "New York, New York, New York", picturing the busy city streets in my head. It was surprisingly hard to keep the image there, and I had to concentrate hard to keep thinking about my destination.
I stopped spinning, and the last thing I saw was the interior of a prison cell, before I woke up.

      So much for New York!

    4. Breaking the dry spell

      by , 12-13-2010 at 05:37 PM
So, I was in the large conservatory room of some house. It was nighttime, I believe.
The conservatory had a single glass pane, which comprised the whole wall. It was more of a single huge window at one side of the house, actually.
I was non-lucid at this point. I walked into a lounge area, right next to the glass wall.
My older sister was sitting in a comfy looking chair. We spoke, but it obviously wasn't important because I don't remember what we said.

I started play-fighting with her, but I suddenly became aware of the possibility that I was dreaming.
Unsure, I stepped back and looked around the room. It was quite small now, and it had shelves along the walls, which were lined with sturdy mugs. I said something like:
"Hang on, I think this is a dream" to my sister.
I stretched out my arm, hand open, pointing at a mug. I willed it to fly into my hand, trying to exert a gravitational pull.

      Nothing.

      I tried again.

      Nothing.

Then it clicked - I only needed to imagine the mug flying into my hand, and it would!
So that's what I did. I pretended the mug was actually flying into my hand at that moment, and guess what?
It whipped off the shelf and landed in my hand, in milliseconds.

Unfortunately, my satisfaction was short-lived. As all the possibilities of what I could do hit me, the dream quickly degenerated into me walking around the house and deleting blocks, now in a game of Minecraft.

A spark of lucidity flickered inside me:
"Must try and get back to... before..."
I thought, before that spark was snuffed out, and my feeble effort to gain control faded.
