My wife and I were outside looking at the night sky. I was bewildered by the amount of visible stars, we almost didn't need our telescope at that point. I squinted my eyes at a very bright one, only to find out that this star was actually the planet Saturn. It was very large and I could easily make out its characteristic rings. Further off, towards the east, I was able to see a very bright swirling pattern of stars - a galaxy! It was the brightest thing in the sky. My wife and I were astonished. If we looked closely enough, we could even see it gradually spinning. It was simply remarkable.
