      I had a crazy idea...

I remembered watching this program where they asked everyone viewing to concentrate on something to make it happen. Yeah, yeah its probably bullshit but why not try it out ourselves? Just for a laugh like.

We'll all concentrate on making one person at a time have a lucid dream that night. You know you're curious.

I'll pick the person at random from whoever wants to take part, using the random number generator at random.org. Then we'll try it on everyone who signs up every few days, in random sequence, no favoritism!

We'll give the hours in local time when the person will be asleep so we know exactly when to concentrate the POWER of out thought.

So sign up! or not. The choice is yours, I leave it to you...

Better yet, everyone could concentrate on sending some kind of crazy dream sign to the person!

"Now remember. When you see Bill Clinton you will become lucid"

I reckon we'd all have to be pretty good at telekinesis for this to work.

I'd like to try this also! I'm a skeptic in nature, but all the things we keep finding out makes me less skeptic about everything.

Very interesting. But how do we agree about when exactly we're concentrating on making someone lucid? Noone has written their sleeping times so far.
And the form and length of concentration. Do you just feel a strong wish that someone has a lucid dream, is that enough? And for how long do you concentrate?

Wait for a few days to see if anyone else is interested and then sort out the times etc. I think. Then probably everyone just do their own thing - pray, meditate, believe, light a candle, wish, anything you want. Does that sound good?

Hey I for one can Vouch that the technique works I'll tell ya how. When I was a kid in Grade School I had a huge Crush on this one girl. So I remember sitting up in my room and closing my eyes and thinking extremely hard on her and thinking over and over to myself that she will have this dream of me. I created this dream scene which was a little funny. It was a night setting and her and I would be sitting on this green bench and there were an abundance of stars and 2 Moons in the background. I know it's cheesy! But the following day this girl who was one of the most popular girls in grade school because she was super cute, actually acknowledge me. while we were having lunch she came over to my table and told me her exact words "I had a dream about you" My mouth stood open and she was my girlfriend like the next day. I actually tried since on several occasions but they were all unsuccessful but at the same time I don't think my whole concentration or my whole heart were in it like when I was younger. I just thought I share that.

I saw a video where a "mind controller" showed a picture to about 30 people and told everybody to scream the thing, whatever was on that picture, in their minds at a blindfolded person in the room. And he guesses what it was .

      Oops, I forgot to vote
That will be fixed in a moment.

Jess, maybe you could at least set an amount of time for people to pray, say incantations, meditate? I mean, what if someone just thinks: 'Ok, I want that one to go lucid tonight'. A pretty short thought, a person could at least think that a few times

      My time is CEST.

Hey, Ne-yo's (incredible&#33 story gave me an idea.

Is it really necessary to concentrate on one of us becoming lucid while they are asleep? Can't it be done anytime the day before?

It's just that some of our time differences might be kind of inconvenient.
For example, if my longest REM period is at 4AM, everyone who lives in Britain will have to concentrate at around 9AM. But around 9 most people are at school or work so it's not the most convenient time in the world, is it?

BTW, I was one of the people who didn't vote 'cause at the time I wasn't really sure if I wanted to participate. But, now that I've thought about it, I realized that there's nothing to lose and A LOT to gain.

Yeah, I agree, I don't think we're dedicated enough to stay up all night willing one of us to become lucid . So as you say LABWA (can I call you that? its a lot shorter! ), we should do it throughout the day, whenever we think of it.

Follower, yeah you're right. I think if we do it throughout the day it could work. BUT we could also arrange a specific time (using the handy meeting planner ) to do some some HARCORE MANTRA CHANTING! all together, for maybe 30 minutes or more/less. If everyone is willing of course. I think that, together with doing it throughout the day should be a good combo.

So, I think we should agree on a mantra to use, and we could do it like MILD: Repeat the mantra, really mean it and want it to happen like your life depended on it when you say it (aloud/in your head), while at the same time visualising the person becoming lucid. Maybe we should also all visualise the same thing, say if the guinea pig tells us the last dreamsign they had in a dream, we could all see them recognising that specific dreamsign. Something like:

"The next time [whoever] is dreaming, I want them to/they will remember to recognise that they're dreaming."

That's obviously the basic MILD mantra. Open to any other suggestions. Also, do anything else you can think of to make it happen...wicca...chaos magic...anything you're into.

Maybe it can be Frenchified!! What was once "LABWA" become "Labois"!!
..As long as it doesn't mean anything dirty.

I can't wait for this thing to get started.

We could experiment with both or do a combination of the two. It could be the visualisation.

Labois - I think the closest thing in French would be Labo which is short for laboratory, so you're safe!

Everyone - Don't forget to let me know who you are if you want to be included in the lottery.

Oh, now I know what was bothering me about it -- there's a guidance counsellor at my school named "Mrs. Lavoie"

Anyways, yeah, I find it a bit weird that people are voting but not posting.

As only 4 people have voted 'Yes', I'm not certain so correct me if I'm wrong. Anyone who voted 'Yes' and hasn't replied here, let me know who you are. Also let us know your timezone - work out the difference here.

Remember, the more people who take part, the better it should work, in theory. Just 7 more people would mean a 100% increase in our POWER!!

I'm in and my timezone is MST. This seems like a very interesting experiment.

Also on that subject, a while ago a bunch of people got together in Washington DC and they tried a similar experiment. They were all in a room and thought of peace. On that day the crime in the USA went down about %25.

I'm in. So the people don't know until the next day right?

If so PMing the others would be good. And just to be sure the person doesn't know send one to the person with another name.

I think I'll post who the person is a couple of days in advance so everyone's ready. Or I'll post it and we'll keep trying on the same person for a few days before swapping. Have to wait and see what all the different timezones are to work something out.

Hm, I wonder how we're going to set time..

Btw read a book on psychology today, it sort of mentioned an experiment similar to this. That was a serious book, and the mentioned experiment was approved and not made up. So, a few people watched a man sleep in a dream laboratory, and when they saw that he was in REM stage, one of them went into another room and started trying to 'telepath' a few images to the sleeper. A pretty crazy thing to try to do for scientists. Anyway, after they woke up that man during REM and asked him what he just dreamt of, he named those images

OK Labois, Casualtie and Follower all suggest trying to send an image/dreamsign to the dreamer. That's good enough for me, everyone agree?

I say we do that, and also repeat a mantra/affirmation.

Obviously we all have to send the same image. So if you have one you'd like us to try, speak up.

I think maybe we could make up our own affirmations because it must be the intention that counts. So as long as we all have the same goal in mind its OK. The goal being that the dreamer becomes lucid.

I think the dreamsign we attempt to send must be the same with everyone to be effective, so as I say give us your ideas!

Once we agree on this I'll sort out who's the first dreamer and times etc.

EDIT: I had a look at the meeting planner to see if we could schedule a group 'power of thought' sesh, but it doesn't really look like its going to be convenient for everyone. So I reckon we all do it at our own times, as often and as focused as we can make it. We'll know when the person will be sleeping, so if we're awake we can concentrate on it harder then for example.

i like the idea of sending a dream sign. it sounds a lot simpler than sending a lucid dream to someone. i say, like you said, come up with a very easily identified dreamsign that will not be overlooked and we keep it the same for everyone. my suggestion would be a big, harmless animal of an odd color. my suggestions:

      a green giraffe
      a purple elephant

and i aggree that, jess, you should be the first one to go, considering you came up with the idea and organized the whole thing.

I think humongous African mammals might not be the most practical choice.

Maybe the Cheshire cat would be cool. First you'd see a smile come out of nowhere and then a cat would vaporise in front of you.

We should brainstorm on this, though. I'm sure someone will come up with a great idea.
