Have seen it, it's many thoughts in it that i have been thinking of for a long time. =) |
|
I didn't like it when I first viewed it; I didn't even finish it the first time. But when I got interested in philosophy and tried watching it again, I absolutely loved it. |

If I could wake up in a different place, at a different time, could I wake up as a different person?
i wish i had seen this before posting a topic |

Suspend your disbelief
I've never seen a Richard Linklater film that wasn't far and away better than 97% of the crap out there, even his screwball comedies. |

If you have a sense of caring for others, you will manifest a kind of inner strength in spite of your own difficulties and problems. With this strength, your own problems will seem less significant and bothersome to you. By going beyond your own problems and taking care of others, you gain inner strength, self-confidence, courage, and a greater sense of calm.Dalai Lama
I liked it. |

It is a mental film. My guess would be that many watch it expecting otherwise. |
|
If you mean mental as in "off-the-wall", I thought is was incredibly dull. And if you mean "thought provoking" the only thought it provoked me to think was a general hatred towards a world which would allow the talentless, banal, dreary and general hopeless lead to get a paid job of any description, let alone a major role in a movie. |

I think it does help to be familiar with several of the perspectives presented in the movie, so that it's not just information overload and you can follow the journey. For a more grounded but lower production value version, try Linklater's early film, Slacker. I think my favorite movie of his is Before Sunset, the sequel-10+-years-removed to Before Sunrise. |

I was just going to mention Before Sunset as an example of a great movie that is completely dialogue driven. |
