Hi my name's Clippy, I'm 15, and I am relatively new to lucid dreaming. I love the idea of being able to know I am dreaming and control my dreams. It makes me feel like I am taking control over a completely new part of me that has somehow been there the whole time.
Anyway, I first discovered lucid dreaming at a summer camp when I was 13. One night, a counsellor was telling us about this amazing ability that anyone can learn to control their dreams. He hadn't really caught my attention until I heard him say "It's like living your life, exactly how you want it, for another 24 hours a day". At that point, I was listening to every word. He told us about how you just need to do reality checks every day throughout the day, and be aware. I did this for the next two days while at camp, and after 2 DAYS of doing reality checks, I had 2 LUCID DREAMS in one night. To this day I am amazed at how I was able to do that. So I lost interest in lucid dreaming a while later.
Fast-forward to one month ago. I am browsing the internet, when I read an article stating that apple juice helps improve vividness of dreams, and I remembered about lucid dreaming. So I do some research on lucid dreaming (being me, I did tons of research). I started to journal my dreams.
For about two weeks I have been attempting DILD, and so far I have gotten close once, but not had a quality LD yet.
I have good recall, and my one almost-lucid dream was me talking to my friends when all of a sudden a floating tongue come out of nowhere and I said "this is like some kind of dream" but I had taken melatonin that night and was too tired to care.
I have a few questions:
1. Will having bad vision affect my vision in dreams?
(My vision is 20/200, or ""legally blind"")
2. How long did it take before you could have 1 lucid dream a week?
3. Is there anything that beginners tend to do that should be avoided.
I am very excited to learn how to lucid dream and I hope I can get to at least 1 every 2 weeks. (Long term goal)
LD Goals:
Fly
Conversation with DCs
Visiting past dreams
Waterbending
Build a mansion
Set things on fire
Growing into a giant
