      Clippy's Workbook

Hi my name's Clippy, I'm 15, and I am relatively new to lucid dreaming. I love the idea of being able to know I am dreaming and control my dreams. It makes me feel like I am taking control over a completely new part of me that has somehow been there the whole time.

Anyway, I first discovered lucid dreaming at a summer camp when I was 13. One night, a counsellor was telling us about this amazing ability that anyone can learn to control their dreams. He hadn't really caught my attention until I heard him say "It's like living your life, exactly how you want it, for another 24 hours a day". At that point, I was listening to every word. He told us about how you just need to do reality checks every day throughout the day, and be aware. I did this for the next two days while at camp, and after 2 DAYS of doing reality checks, I had 2 LUCID DREAMS in one night. To this day I am amazed at how I was able to do that. So I lost interest in lucid dreaming a while later.

Fast-forward to one month ago. I am browsing the internet, when I read an article stating that apple juice helps improve vividness of dreams, and I remembered about lucid dreaming. So I do some research on lucid dreaming (being me, I did tons of research). I started to journal my dreams.
For about two weeks I have been attempting DILD, and so far I have gotten close once, but not had a quality LD yet.

I have good recall, and my one almost-lucid dream was me talking to my friends when all of a sudden a floating tongue come out of nowhere and I said "this is like some kind of dream" but I had taken melatonin that night and was too tired to care.

      I have a few questions:

      1. Will having bad vision affect my vision in dreams?
(My vision is 20/200, or ""legally blind"")
      2. How long did it take before you could have 1 lucid dream a week?
      3. Is there anything that beginners tend to do that should be avoided.

I am very excited to learn how to lucid dream and I hope I can get to at least 1 every 2 weeks. (Long term goal)

      LD Goals:

      Fly
      Conversation with DCs
      Visiting past dreams
      Waterbending
      Build a mansion
      Set things on fire
      Growing into a giant

      Welcome Clippy!

      To your questions:

      1. Will having bad vision affect my vision in dreams?
(My vision is 20/200, or ""legally blind"")
      2. How long did it take before you could have 1 lucid dream a week?
      3. Is there anything that beginners tend to do that should be avoided.
      1. I am really not sure. I have read things that talk about how long you have been "legally blind" playing a part and it being a factor if you were born with that level of vision. I am honestly not sure though.

      2. Checking my LD log it looks like I was often averaging one LD per week about 3 months in but of course went through periods where I went a few weeks between lucids after that approximate 3 month mark. SSILD really seemed to work for me and I put a good amount of effort into my daytime practices.

      3. Yes! Most beginners make the mistake of not looking at this as a gradually improving journey and not coming up with practices that you can keep up longer term. Along those lines, I would like to issue you the same challenge I try to give to the younger students. The link below will take you directly to the challenge in the thread:

Awww yeeeaaahh! I had my first lucid dream since joining this website last night!

I have been trying to get one for a couple weeks now (doing constant RCs, ADA and some meditation), and I guess my work is starting to pay off!
Last night, I went to bed at 10:30 as usual, but that night I was REALLY tired. Before I went to sleep, I repeated the mantra "I am dreaming".

My memory of this dream isn't great because I slept in, but here it goes:
When my dream started, I was downstairs in my house. Since I am downstairs alot in rel life, I know exactly how it looks. So as soon as the dream started, I knew something was off because the lighting was really strange. I looked at my fingers and saw that I had 7 on my right hand. If anything, this dream was pretty clear before, but once I realized I was dreaming, it was a thousand times clearer than any other dream I have ever had, even my other LDs (which weren't so amazing). It felt as clear as waking life. I started to get excited, but then I remembered that is the biggest reason people wake up from their LDs. I decided to explore the dream I bit just for fun. I walk down the hall and I see my friend sitting on the couch with this lady my mom knows. I walk into the room, and just because I heard about this on reddit, I ask the woman what is 1 plus 1. She shouts out in a dutch accent "The answer is pear!". I decided I was wasting my time, smashed through the back window, and started flying. My flying was pretty much regular Superman-type flying. I loved the feeling of flying. I could feel the wind blowing past me and seeing buildings under me. And then I woke up.

When I woke up I was excited I had finally had my first lucid dream for a while, so it took me a while to realize I had woken up on the living room carpet. . . and that I had never woken up at all! I probably never would have realized if had had not started floating for no reason when I stood up. I counted my fingers, and I had 6. This dream (or continuation of my other dream) did not seem as clear. I barely remember what happened next, but I was at the side of my house being chased by a samurai. I was really scared until I remembered I was dreaming. The samurai came towards me and I kicked him. He broke into pieces that went flying away. Then my dream ended for real this time.

Very good DILD/MILD experience, only wish I would have done more in it thought.

Excellent work Clippy!! You not only had good awareness to become lucid the first time, but you caught a false awakening (however it happened...take pride in the fact that you didn't dismiss the floating) and then regained your lucidity when the samurai was chasing you! That actually reminds me of some of my childhood lucids.

Did you see my challenge? Keep up the great work!
