Can't control things at ALL!! HELP!!

      Hey,

Today was my first lucid dream in a long time.. and I can thank that on doing reality checks again (looking at my hands is a BIG key for me)

But anyways, in the lucid dream, as soon as I became lucid, it started to fade away, but then I tried hard to stabalize it, and I said increase vividness, and it increased a little bit and I seemed to be fine. But then I went looking around and tried to make someone appear. I said to myself, when i turn around, i want <so and so> to appear. I then turned the other way, and then turned back, and no one was there. I then walked further into another room and turned me back again, and said it again, and then turned back around, and no on was there. I then gave up on that and then walked back over and searched some more and found a clock on my wall. I then tried to make the clock dissapear. I said this is my dream, and i want that clock to disappear

But once again, that clock wouldnt disapear.

I then went back into another room and tried to make someone else appear but then I lost lucidity and the lucid dream transformed into a normal dream

But can someone give me some tips on how to control things? I dont get it at all.

I realize now I should of done more non-advanced things (just go explore things, maybe eat something, try to fly, etc)

But as for making objects appear, 'expecting' them to appear just doesnt work for me.. or maybe i need more practice

      Anyone have any suggestions?

      Thanks

Doors! Doors a BIG help for me. Imagine what you want on the other side of the door and expect it to be there because this is your dream and you have control. This works for pretty much anything including things, people, and places. If there are no doors around just wander around looking for that person and they'll eventually show up. Summoning things might take more practice, so try to simplify it a bit. If there's no doors reach into a river to pull something out or look behind a bush. The door thing might take a few tries just don't give up! Expect them to be on the other side and if they're not close the door and try again. Good luck!

Yeah I’m having trouble too. I stopped practicing lucid dreaming for maybe two months and now that I’m doing it again I sux. Last night I tried to walk through a glass door and could not even do that. I use to have flying down to an art and now it takes awhile for me even to get that sorted. It quite frustrating seeing that before I stopped I was gaining much ground and advancing quite quickly, now I just sux. I guess I just have to build it up like I did in the first place? The only good thing about last night’s lucid dream was flying into a bunch of beautiful White and Monarch butterflies.

      Peace Sensi.

Yeah, don't think you're alone. My dream control comes and goes. In some LDs I seem to be able to do just about whatever I want, other times nothing works the way I want it to. I think you just have to be in the right frame of mind. And I imagine that you get better with practice, though I'm not sure I really have enough LDs under my belt yet to answer to that one for sure.

Imachinchilla gave you great advice and I've used the door technique successfully myself. I'll have to remember to try the "pulling someone/something from the river"!

Sometimes the strength/stability of your lucidity can effect your control. You might try stating "INCREASE LUCIDITY" to see if your dream quality improves.

As far as "sucking" after a lay-off .. I'm right there with you. Due to "life", I've been in a dry spell for about a year (mostly due to my lack of motivation and stress). I am back now, re-dedicated and have had three lucid dreams in 5 nights of trying. Were they the quality and duration that they used to be.. not even close.. but I will keep working at it until they are!

      Don't ever give up!!

I've been LDing for years now and I basically have stable, vivid LDs everynight(unless I am very tired or my mind is too chaotic). Yet, i have no control either. Dont focus too much on control Control isnt everything. Explore your dreams, there is so much to see! You can simply walk even!(flying should be no problem, i find that things only effecting me personally do not count as 'control') There is an endless world for you to explore, to experience and to see, and its never the same. And hell no you need control for that! ^_^ Control is not always the most fun! Trust me So dont worry about it too much, and if you really want to control, then I sugeest you build up slow. When you get lucid, dont start with trying to control stuff right away. I think that is a common mistake alot of LDers make..they turn lucid and in all their exitement they start trying to control stuff. Good chance this will just disturb your dream or even wake you up earlier, ultimately. Try just staying lucid for a good while first, try to just 'live' normally in the dream for a while. Without dreams fading or everything getting all messed up. Who wants to learn how to fly if you cant even walk

Just my 2 cents, you can try it in whatever way you see fit. Good luck! Im sure you'll be fine!

My problem is more to do with control of the mind! (If there is any other form in and LD )

In other words, I want to be able to think as clearly as I would in reality, and remember everything I want to remember. And be able to just think: "This is a lucid dream, what did I want to do in a lucid dream?". Unfortunately, however, I don't ever remember to do this, but I think if I were, say, to be transported into another world, I would be amazed and think: "what is this place?" and start to explore. But in my dreams, when I become lucid, I either try summoning a bird to shag, or just try to fly and stuff. What's the fun of doing stuff if your mind is not there? That's why I don't always like taking drugs, because, as far as I'm concerned, if you can't think about what you're experiencing while you're experiencing it ... what's the point?

Exactly!...I tend to prefer a mixture of control and uncontrollable aspects with a splash of randomness tossed into the mix.

But in my dreams, when I become lucid, I either try summoning a bird to shag, or just try to fly and stuff. [/b]
And don't be discouraged if the girl plays hard to get or you only get spurts of altitude control on your first attempts at flight...it will all click in due time. Good Luck!

I think you need to learn some self-confidence. Objects won't appear unless you're more stubborn about what you want to happen. Opening a door is also a good idea though, because you just "recieve" the object without really making too much effort. I've had many cases where i suddenly lose confidence and get booted out of a lucid dream. With practise you will be able to do whatever you want without anything to stop you. The problem with me is remmembering to do reality checks, but once i find out i'm in a lucid dream, i know i won't lose it.

But that's the problem. That's exactly what I would do, but it takes control to be able to do even that! Control of your thoughts! If I could do that, I could probably do anything!
