Being lucid but not having control!

I've only had few LDs, and most of them are very short (I always get too excited when I realize that I'm dreaming).

But one thing that bothers me is, even though sometimes I discover that I'm dreaming, and I know %100 that this is a dream .. but I can't do anything unnatural!

The finger-thought-palm test only worked once .. even though I tried it in like 3 or 4 LDs.
I mean, I know for sure that this is a dream, and I want to do things, but they just don't happen! I don't think that I was being in doubt or anything ..

      What are some possible reasons?
is it because I'm getting excited?

same thing happens to me! I wish someone would show me another way, though the in a corner thing does work sometimes.
      I do not like signatures.

Well, unfortunately I believe being lucid and having control are two separate things. Control (from what I understand) needs to be learned.

I also have that problem in some cases. I think it really comes down to how confident you are in the dream about what you are doing. You have to really believe that what you want to happen will happen. I know, sounds kinda Peter-Panish, but.....

I am usually able to fly at will - because this is one of the first things I was able to do when LDing, it is something that I am confident will work. It's something I expect to work. One fairly simple thing I've been trying with no success yet is to summon other characters. You'd think that would be as simple as just yelling out "dream characters, appear now!" But so far, I end up just sittin there like an idiot very lonely.

So, I guess all I can suggest is try to think of things you want to do before you go into dreamland and try to convince yourself in waking life that it will happen in your dreams - because in dreams, it's all possible, ya just gotta believe...

      advise

I just had my first Lucid Dream where i could actually control myself and move around.

Here is a method that no one has discussed yet im sure all have experienced.

When you know you are in the dream use your senses to concentrate on the high pitch ringing sound you commonly hear when it's quiet or from a rock concert. By focussing on that very sound, the tone will amplify louder and louder until you can hear the sounds in your dream. It feels like as you concentrate more on the humming sound you go deeper into the dream. At that point you will naturally be able to control your movements.

Since im only a beginner it has only lasted me 6 seconds lucidity. be careful not to focus too much on the pitch sound or you may experience mild body vibrations and shock upon awakening (nightmare).

For controlling, start with simple things that have a before and after - that way you can imagine the end result of what you're trying to control.

Say for example, you want to make a cupcake appear. Move your hand infront of the spot where the cupcake appears and imagine a cupcake being there when you move your hand away. Tell yourself "there's a cupcake there". Now move your hand away, and it will be there.

LD but don't care in dream, and don't do anything special

LD but don't care in dream, and don't do anything special

I need to intend to actually do something. I could try to look at my hands again (a/la Carlos Castenda) but that doesn't feel right in my gut.

Any suggestions? When I try to think of something cool, my "watchers" in my internal dialog just shoot me down.

Maybe hearing another voice with a COMMAND may shut them up.

Please command me to do something! I will let you know if it happens.

      THANKS
