Lucid controlling

I had a dream last night where i was walking around, Something struck me as odd so i told my self "Hey im dreaming!" But as i did reality checks they didn't work, I looked at my hands and they weren't weird like when i had another dream. I had no control of the dream, Can anyone give me any tips on how to control my dreams easier, Thanks!

Congrats on lucid dream too!

Remember that you had control, you could control your dream body and that's already dream control, think positive. As for problem you were having, were you expecting whatever you were doing to work, without doubts? As for reality check, are you doing them on auto or actually putting thought into them? Before you do reality check, look around, search for dream signs, then put emotions and questioning into it, like "Wow, am i dreaming?", and then do reality check, while expecting it to work.
