Our dreams are firsthand creations, rather than residues of waking life. We have the capacity for infinite creativity.

I used to always have dreams about a guy I went to high school with. I had a crush on him for the longest time, and we were good friends but never dated. After leaving school, he would always show up in my dreams - I think he represented the perfect guy in my dreams, because I was always trying to impress him in my dreams and if we were ever together at all, I'd wake up disappointed that it was just a dream. I actually made him one of my dream signs because he showed up so often.

Well, the last time I've seen this guy in real life must've been about 8 years ago. That's more than enough time to let him go. Plus, I'm married now so I always felt guilty after dreaming about him.

The other night, I dreamt I met him for dinner. But this time he didn't appear as I remember him at school, but older (and not as attractive). I remember admitting to him in my dream that I had a crush on him and always dreamed about him, but now meeting him after all this time and seeing how he is now, I think I can give it up. Then he tried to take advantage of me and I ran away back to my husband.

After I woke up, I felt like this was a breakthrough dream - and I'm relatively confident that I will never see him in my dreams again. It's just funny that I have this feeling. I guess all I needed was to confront him about it in my dream and get closure.

      Just felt like sharing that.
I think I have almost the same problem as you have had. My freshman year in high school, I had a crush on this guy at school, and even though I never really knew or talked to him but I started dreaming about him, and I am almost ready to graduate high school and I have a fiance, but I have been dreaming about him all of this time. Now, it has gotten to the point that he is usually not the central character of the dream , but he is always in the background doing something. Once I even told the dream him that I was dreaming about him. I need to do what you did to solve your problem. I would probably be a lot happier with my dreams.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one with this problem! And I still haven't had a dream with that guy in it since I had that "breakthrough dream". It was kind of an accident that it happened, though - I didn't plan it. I never became lucid in any of the dreams he was in, which is why they always seemed so real at the time, therefore I couldn't control what happened in them. But suddenly I have this dream that was different than all the others. Very weird things happen sometimes, I guess. Good luck with yours.

Thank you. I wasn't lucid in any of those dreams, weither. The one time I told this person I was dreaming, I wasn't even lucid. Sometimes, even if I know I am dreaming, it just doesn't click, therefore I couldn't call it lucidity. I hope I can have a dream like yours, with control so I could do just that.

I have kinda the same problem... except that it's not a problem. In my dreams I'm alone very seldom. I'm always with my little bro or with one of my closest friends. And that's not a problem, I'm just thinking that because they occur so often, they could be some sort of dream sign for me... But how can I do that? Even in the dreams they act pretty normally. I see my bro (I live in the same house) and friends every week, should I just do a quick RC everytime I see them? After all they are in about 80% of all my dreams so I'd like to benefit from that.... to become lucid.
