      When RC gets you.

Have you guys done reality checks when you were actually awake?

I've read that you should do it just to get the RC into a habit while dreaming, but do people do it in general because they are uncertain?
When I'm awake I KNOW I'm awake, and never try RCs. But could I be wrong sometimes, even though I KNOW? (you know the feeling of being alive don't you?).

Maybe 1 in about 100 or 200 waking reality checks I do because I'm really not sure if I'm awake or dreaming. For all the others, I just imagine that I'm not sure. I create a temporary false feeling, knowing that it's false. But even if one knows it's false, it still has the same effect, which is I'm trying to build a critical-reflective attitude towards the integrity of existence.

Didn't you know that the idea of waking RCs is to build this critical attitude so that you can carry it over into your dreams?
In a dream you believe you are awake, that's the whole problem with lucid dreaming. In waking life you believe you are awake as well. If you don't question waking life, you don't question dream life.

      Hey cath,
The problem is that you KNOW you're awake when awake, but you also KNOW you're awake when you're not
So you should practice RC's in the day so that it can become a habit. One day , eventually, you'll do it in a dream.
When doing the reality checks, always assume you're dreaming until you prove otherwise.
And do more than one RC when you check. You wouldn't want the frustration of a failed RC
Also think about what situations or things you dream the most about. Thing that happen every day in your waking life.
Then whenever these things happen, do your checks. This is called a dream sign

Yes I did, I said "I've read that you should do it just to get the RC into a habit while dreaming" - thus doing it while you were awake.

      Anyways, thanks for the advice.
How often would you recommend doing RCs during the day then?
